OK will give this a go, thanks. See if I get bored!!

I did (however) have problems with this when I tried last, the bindings didn't "bind". Many months ago, I admit.

another thing you can do is write the macros out of game, since they're stored localy on your computer. If you go to the galaxies folder, then profiles, account name, there should be a macro.txt file. Its not the most user friendly of formats but if you've got a couple example macrosto look at you should be able to figure it out pretty quick.

Thanks for the info. Should make life much easier.

Hmmm. I don't see any copy/paste. Lots of other stuff, but no copy or paste that I can see.

I'm not quitting the game, I'm just not gonna play musician any more 'cause I do not find pushing a button every minute fun after hearing the tell chime.

I've had plenty other reasons to shrug off musician and have it just be yet another badge on my sleve, and this is just pushing me over, it's a horible, horible idea. And it's not even a well thought out solution to the problem. There will still be afk'ers everywhere, and to think they will just disapeer you are kidding yourself.

This profesion needs attention, and killing every macro in the entire game is not the solution.

Welp, I guess back to my true love anyway, crafting profesions. Don't have to worry about afk'ers ruining my profesion there.

I'm not the only one who thinks this way either, I know two of my best friends who I spend lots of time in the cantina with who are fed up with the entertainer profesions also. Soon as this comes, we've all decided to just give it up and let it go. I'm sure we won't be missed, and we don't want to be. But an already tiny amount of mind buffers just lost three of the most active buffers on tempest server.

*shrug* ah well, better get some ore ready to go at architect.

Well, since you are leaving the profession, Gungan head statues will be your friend. Just sharing with you to help make that climb to Master Architect easier on ya.

Okram2k, I'm with you on this one. 9 months of being a muscian/entertainer good bye!!!

I'm also appauled at the narrow mindness of part of the commuity and entertainer corrispondants on this (and the Devs of course). This "fix" fixes nothing (long term) and simply creates a challange for the people who abuse macros, while taking away another feature some people actually rely on. Some of you are on cloud nine, just cause you don't use macros, ones that don't repeat or even long ones. Why should others who have spent hours writing valid macros now have to spend even longer redoing them. For only to find out nothing has really changed and we all wait for the next nerf.

As for what nerf is next. The reason I stated that it would most likely be a limit on the number of lines is because historically these devs are lazy/slopping and take the easiest option, regardless of what affect it will have. Adding a timer, although only slightly more complicated is still more complicated as limiting the number of lines. Since they will have to introduce timing code that executes on each macro individually, while limiting lines is a one off occurance during the writing of the macro. Include the nerfing of /pause to smaller time slots and there you go!!! Easy, but thoughtless.

There was even another tread in the Dancer forum, which discussed other methods and even the method of coding a very simple fix that affected no one but the abuses. What happened, it got deleted and the corrispondant "magically" forgot what its contents were even though he'd made several posts in the discussion and was actualy one of the last to post only minutes before its deletion.

No one is asking for AFK buff bots or anything to stay, they just want a solution that doesn't affect their game play. There are other simple soultions to this, ones that would not take much development time.

We have batted a lot of ideas around to combat the AFK and buffbot problems. None of our suggestions seemed to be feasible to the Devs so they are probably doing the most cost effective thing they can do that will rid themselves of a lot more than buff-bots. You know, the perma AFK Jedi?

"Copy/cut/paste aren't bound by default. You have to go into options and hit the keymap button, and bind them to something yourself."

Could someone tell me how this is done? I have absolutely no clue when it comes to computers. Is this a game thing or a Windows thing? How do I do it? What 'options' are we talking about?

In-game. Go to Options <control-O> and then pick controls. On there is a button called Keymap. I assigned Copy/Paste to control-c and control-v, which worked. Other day somebody was trying to assign it to the number pad, and wasn't having any luck.

I think -darkshadow- hit it right on the head. People are starting to panic. There are people who have been rude, harrassed, and interfered with our performances/gameplay enough to earn a place on many black lists. Where are these people going to go, when they can no longer rely on their buffbots?

As far as ignore goes, that only masks the problem. Much like taking pain killers for a broken bone, without setting it. True, we can /addignore spammer/harrasser, yet potential patrons coming in to the cantina still get assaulted by it, and leave. This deprives us of potential haling, tips, interraction, and gameplay.

I applaud the removal of recursive macros. I use one now to perform, but I have no problem writing a longer one and refreshing it when needed. The only problem I see are those who will be using 'overlapping' macros with increasing delays before starting. If they can limit the duration a macro will run, not the number of commands, I can see a greater benefit. Now, we just need more watchdog programs to find the flebs using 3rd party programs to keep it up.

And yes, -darkshadow-, if you want healing or a buff, you had better be polite.

Yes, the recursive macro is going away! I've lobbied for this change for months -- really since last year. I'm sort of stunned that they're actually going to do the right thing. YAY!

Thanks for lobbying this. I am an ATK-Entertainer who usesrecursive macros, because I like to do my performance and be able to chat with the audience instead of hitting the flourish keys all the time.

Maybe you could lobby that the flourishes have to be hit in a special rythm? Make it that the flourish number appears on the screen every time and the musician has to follow it. Make it some dance-dance-sensation game.

Thanks for lobbying that your sight on it and your way to play is the only right one.
