heres one I brought up before. How about a "fame meter"? It could be hidden to the player, but the more gig missions you run, the more fame you collect. The more famous you get, the more reaction you get from the npc crowds.

Example:

100 gig missions - rank of "well known". A few cantina NPCs notice you when you walk in. Wave and pay attention to you when you play.

200 gig missions - rank of "celebrity". Nearly all NPCs in cantinas notice you and shout out relevent text. "Hey! Theres that Musician I've heard about! Lets go listen!"

300 gig missions - rank of "famous". NPC's in cantinas go wild when you come in! "There's %%! I've got all his holos!" NPCs on the street recognize you and ask for autographs.

400 gig missions - rank of "superstar". NPC's start following you to cantinas and cheer and dance when you play. Major NPC's (jabba, the emperor and luke and leia) generate special missions inviting you personally to play for them.

This is a great idea.

I don't think the Major NPC idea is going to work because of difficulty in coordinating those certain NPC's (getting in to see Jabba would require new 'gateway' coding on the NPC guards).

But the idea of NPC's reacting to you in the streets and cantina (as long as it doesn't end up spamming the place) is a great idea! We already know NPC's react to us via 'Faction' (Desert Demons shout 'Welcome Friend!' everytime I go by them).

It might require the addition of another invisible 'faction' in the system (there are lots of them, trust me) called "Entertainer Fame" or something, but then 'townspeople' factioned folks would react to you based on this new faction. And the only way to get the faction would be to do Entertainer missions.

But since the devs are always interested in balance, we will need a way to lose this "Entertainer Fame" faction as well. Say that for every 1 week of game time, or every 1 hour of non-mission-play time, you lose a couple points of fame (people don't know who you are, you aren't on tour anymore, etc)

This has the makings of a really neat 'content' addition.

great post, some really great ideas.

personaly:

1. speekers, mike craftable by musicians

2 . dynamic quests and missions with suitable rewards

3. clothes!!!

4. portable mini stages

5 hooverJets on my Nalargon LOL

The one thing the devs have shown is that they want "specific" ideas. I love the idea of clothes for entertainers, dancers, and musicians. I don't really know of anything off the top of my head but surely someone else does. So...

What types of clothes do we want for Entertainers, Dancers, Musicians?

Ssmoking Joe, don't we already have the "cantina song" as Star Wars 2? Personally, I'd like to have the main Star Wars theme as a post-Master "orchestra" number, only performable if you can find another dozen Master Musicians or so. That would be fun post-Master content. I'd like to see them do that with other Star Warsy tunes.

Brandon: I'd like a White Tie and Tails to wear while performing Ceremonial, or some Star Wars equivalent of a tux. I'd like Sergeant Pepper uniforms, even though that's not very Star Warsy. I'd also like to be able to hold a can of booze and drag on a cigarette (even though I don't smoke in RL), like all those cool jazz musicians. I'd like a ripped T-shirt and shades to wear while jamming on Rock. I'd like to be able to get an ID to transform me into a Bith for half an hour, for a fee. Wouldn't it be fun to be a Bith band, as in the Mos Eisley cantina?

Hey, great one there, Salporin! I love the idea of being able to do command performances for the big shot NPC's! This would defenitely make it worth my while to do the music missions. We already know that they can track these sorts of things, all they would have to do is add a 'visibility' log to us just like they have for the Jedi.

One thing I would suggest though is that they make it so that visibility rises and falls--in other words, in order to avoid falling out of the public eye, you need to not only make the original number of mission performances, but you must also do a certain number of missions per month to keep your stardom.

Oh, and LeBob? I don't know if anyone has replied to the thing about not being able to pick up missions for player cantinas? It is possible, just VERY rare. A few days ago when I was in Mos Elsewhere I wondered if it was possible so I ran to our entertainer mission terminal and after a whole bunch of clicking on refresh I got two missions for the Drunken Tusken. Just so you know...it is possible.

Well, i would welcome it, if we could bring some more differencies to the songs. Lets get some harder stuff for Outlawz (like Heavy Metal) or some normal Pop for the citizien or some Techno for the Footloose-Dancer.

And of course, do more Listen-Animations. You cant cheer and clap for Techno or Metal 8/

Add Combat songs.

1. The Song of Peace....Area of effect, combat stops for X seconds. Could help those Bio-Engineers get those samples they want so bad.

2. The Song of War...Combat song, needs a bonus that is different then Squad Leader or Medic. Increased rate of fire....is that a squad leader ability?

3. The Song of Hope...Lowers a players INC. timer when they are down.

4. The Song of Taming...Gives a bonus to CH Taming, but doesn't actually allow you to tame.

5. The Song of Tracking...increases a Rangers Tracking range.

Basically my idea's focus on the Musician helping/inspiring other classes. You could go on and on with the Song of.....list, as long as it helps each class skills just a bit.

Just my 2 credits worth. Hopefully someone can build on this. These songs will get us out of the cantina and into the field and more interactive.

Oh how about the Master level ability to walk slowely and play a small instrument at the same time

Player Cantinas

In addition to the hired npc/droid bandmembers, I'd love to have a way to set them up in my cantina when I'm offline or not able to play there.

It would just be very nice to have a 'chamber orchestra' who will play on stage while no one else is performing in the cantina. And if an entertainer comes in with the right hiring skills, they can recruit the band to join with them.

Otherwise they would auto-start if the live performer finishes, and auto-stop when someone prepares to start playing.

Let alone to being just plain cool, that would also help to always having something there to heal my citizens when they come in and I'm not around.

And obviously, the NPC chamber orchestra would give extremely reduced wound heals on their own, perhaps a porportion of the person who set them down.

My other idea about player cantinas is a personal one.. Theaters have a backstage room (though for a good reason - you can't put stuff on the stage or seating, right?) but they are only 3 lots. My 5 lot cantina is burning a lot of my money and.. my lots I can't afford another house with all the resources I've been digging up lately, so all my belongings are either on my person, or in packs at the back-corner of the stage..

Can we turn one of the side alcoves, or perhaps right at the entrance, into an elevator terminal, or stair case? I would love to have a loft apartment on the top story of my cantina

Great ideas everyone, thanks for the read, and sorry if my suggestions are very similar to others. I read most of 'em but I got sidetracked while thinking of my own ideas and probably only skimmed over some of the posts

One idea i had was to allow the entertainer classes greater acess to the game's features to be entertaining, thus for the musician:

1. Get X amount of master[?] musicians together with certain instruments and you can play music from the game's soundtrack, the rarer the song the more musicians it needs.

2. ''Sound engineer'' abilities, able to create various sound effects in theatres, cantinas if people listen to them

Lots of good ideas here -- I especially like the fame concept. I think travel should be incorporated into fame as well. That is to say, visiting different cantinas increases fame. It should make sense that the more places you've been, the better known you are. Of course, I'm a bit partial to this as it fits my playstyle: I've been to every "fixed" (i.e. non-PC) cantina in the galaxy.

A second idea I had the other night is "/squelch". The squelch ability would transform musicians into moderators for the cantina. Any musician registered in a cantina would be able to squelch any patron in that cantina from speaking in spatial chat (and from emoting). This would:
1) Cut down on rude and abusive patrons (who could, of course, continue their rudeness in /tells).
2) Cut down on the afk bots' macro'ing and begging spam

There is, of course, the potential for griefing. To this end, the "/squelch" should end after a fixed period of time (say 5 minutes). The ability should only be useable in "fixed" cantinas. Other than that, I hardly see how any more damage could be done by silencing people than the appalling behavior some cantina patrons engage in. Perhaps the ability should be restricted to masters, so only the people who put in a great deal of time, and theoretically are more concerned about the cantina.
