Thread: Brainstorming thread: post your cool gameplay ideas for the devs to consider here
uhm sorry for this but I need to compliment the first post about the compose window =))
in the flourish window u must also have a tempo function.. where u set the tempo so all the flourishes u chose keeps the same tempo .. in that way they will all work to gether a bit better no matter wich ones u chose =)).. it would sound terrible if u had loads off different tempos =D
this will work without worrys for real life royalties and stuff caus u are just playing around with predefined flourishes madwe by u swg and I think this would really make a huge different about the entertainer proffession.
Thanks again =))
hmm feels like I said that before =)
Pop-up windows = Bad Idea:

can you explain how the 'pop-up' AFK fix 'as always, is a bad idea'?
can you offer a better proposal in it's stead?
as Sherlock Holmes said, (not quoted but smth to the effect)
The solution to a problem is what's left over after all other possible solutions have been deemed illogical.
- They're screamingly easy to get around
- They're more annoying to the live player than they are to the absent one (see #1)
I think the biggest, least talked about issue with this AFK problem is that:
There would be no macro-tainers if patrons stopped /watching and /listening to them... this is just as much a fault of the non-ents as it is of the entertainer class
however I think the point is becoming increasingly moot... I've been wondering if we need to still be so concerned with the AFK issue since the jedi system is being revamped... there will be ALOT fewer macro zombies around ![]()
I know there will still be some but I think we can put AFK on the back burner for now and try to get some other stuff going!
Hi There,
I'm pretty new to the musician profession. (only 3 days in fact
) but here's my ideas.
Make Musicians and Dancers like Bards! -A combat group bringsus along hunting and we can play while running along with thegroup and it gives everyone in our group bonuses to combat +dodge, +defense, +accuracy. and it can last fortwice as long as you have been playing (max 10 minutes) so that if the musician wants to get a shot in two he can. As if the song is stuck in the players head. Also perhaps our songs can put our enemies to sleep or dazzle them in combat making them stunned.
Have the musician be important to revealing secret temples etc. Perhaps there is a riddle on a stone somewhere out on dathomir and if the player learns that song he just needs to play it and a doorway opens to a secret dungeon.
Solanis: I love the idea of Musicians revealing secret doors or whatnot. Someone (was it Sweatyclimber? Monkey?) had a related idea: make Musicians a required "NPC-like" stop in multi-legged quests, in which we have secret information someone needs to finish a quest. E.g., when you play a single-player RPG, sooner or later you go to a bar/cantina and get information or a quest from an NPC there. Let us be that NPC! Require a player to talk to us to get a waypoint. Allow us to ham it up with some roleplaying.
Phew. Got carried away there. ![]()
Um, on Solanis' other suggestion: Holocron and other devs have said they don't want Musicians to be EQ-style bards, so I don't think it will happen in the way you suggest. OTOH, Holocron and other devs have said they'd be willing to consider giving entertainers some form of a mind-damage heal. Squad Leaders have gotten a limited mind heal since he said that, but who knows if that forecloses further heals. Personally, I'd vote for a holostim, "craftable" (or "recordable", if you prefer) only by entertainers, that would heal damage with the same magic heal tech that allows docs instantly to heal life-threatening physical wounds with a push of a stim.

that was me
But... i dont think we should be a leg in a npc type quest... I think it should relate to "current events" ie when the crackdown happens... i think it should shift focus of "tough crackdown" areas... I think we then should be able to find out where those area's are and relay it. Same with finding NPC's for bountyhunter missions. Essentially, not nessisary but usefull to the players.
Ah, got it, sweatyclimber. I loved the basic idea, in any case -- allowing us to serve as info brokers. I just think that's a cool idea.
Though I still wouldn't mind being the required leg in someone's quest, too. I wouldn't require that any specific Musician be found -- just that the quester talk to a Novice Musician or higher in order to get a waypoint to the next step in the quest. The Musician could get XP or cash for providing the info, and the quester would get the WP.
This thread has some pretty good ideas in it. I can't wait to sum it up for the devs in a post entitled something like: "You want ideas for new Musician content? HERE are some ideas for new Musician content!'
heres one I brought up before. How about a "fame meter"? It could be hidden to the player, but the more gig missions you run, the more fame you collect. The more famous you get, the more reaction you get from the npc crowds.
Example:
100 gig missions - rank of "well known". A few cantina NPCs notice you when you walk in. Wave and pay attention to you when you play.
200 gig missions - rank of "celebrity". Nearly all NPCs in cantinas notice you and shout out relevent text. "Hey! Theres that Musician I've heard about! Lets go listen!"
300 gig missions - rank of "famous". NPC's in cantinas go wild when you come in! "There's %%! I've got all his holos!" NPCs on the street recognize you and ask for autographs.
400 gig missions - rank of "superstar". NPC's start following you to cantinas and cheer and dance when you play. Major NPC's (jabba, the emperor and luke and leia) generate special missions inviting you personally to play for them.
This does several things for musicians...
a) gives a reason to actually DO gig missions.
b)Gives a goal to work toward.
c)endgame faction activities to get entertainers involved in the GCW
d)the adoration of the public, which is all we musicians want anyway eh? ![]()
