Well I just wanted to chime in here and say that I personally still prefer good player music to the jukebox. The lack of play list feature, and the lack of any visual effects, means that a good live band will still be better when it comes to creating a party feel.

Heh. While we're guessing, my guess is that they'll extend entertainer buff times to something more in line with Doc buffs (3+ hours. But of course we still won't be able to buff ourselves). That's exactly the kind of thing I can imagine a Dev seeing as "pretty exciting for the entertainer professions", plus it should take almost no effort for them.

And yes, warryyr, if they ever did put in a /setgoddessmode, you know we would be unable to target ourselves.

That's OK, I'd just go around doing it to all the Rebels that are PvP'ing. Then when they get all arrogant, I'll do it to the Imperials, too - and for once I'll watch a PvP fight where one side or the other isn't totally creamed in less than 10 seconds.

Just a quick question - does listening to a Jukebox heal mind wounds or battle fatigue?

This has been something that A Lot of non-entertainer players have brought to my attention this week. If it doesn't heal their battle fatigue then they see no reason for me to consider it a concern. I think that most of the playerbase is out of touch with the reality that we don't play just to be healing them. I seriously doubt that theyknow how we must change our performance style in order to compete with the buff bots. Do they even realize that we have functions beyond our ability to heal or buff them? Who knows..but how incredibly self-centered for some to think that their benefit might be the only reason I would play a game!

This is a big concern for me when thinking about any possible changes or improvements to the performance professions (sorry..I hate calling us the social professions..I'm not very social..plenty of people around here will gladly confirm that I'm a b!tch). With a few minor exceptions (& a quest that just bores me to tears), the vast majority of changes we've seen have been designed around the idea ofenhancing the game play of others. I want our dev time to be about our fun!

The problem is that our profession works. Game mechanics wise our profession does what it is supposed to do. In fact it works too well as you can see with buffbots.

What everyone wants, i.e more songs, would take much more time than the code changes that have been occuring. To me it seems like writing a song that works in game would take much longer than writing one to play in RL.

Yeah..for everyone but those players who have chosen to play our profession.

I disagree. Look at the structure of our non-canon songs. We have the base song which is just a collection of 5 parts, arppegiated and rhythmic. On top of this you have the flourishes; 8 different ones for each sound, a couple of measures of riff each. The songs themselves are not particularly unique but are very typical of the genre they represent..textbook even. They're not even that creative. And no lyrics. As a musician, there is nothing more painful to me than trying to write lyrics..I'm just not a poet. I've very little knowledge regarding coding them into the game though..that to me would be theimpossible part.

Quoting myself from other threads

I'm a musician and I happen to love the Jukebox. It does not play the same songs that I can play as a musician or if they are it's nothing like anything I've ever heard from a musician. And no in my opinion it is not the death of entertainers for one thing to my knowledge it can not heal wounds, BF or do mind buffs. True those three items are not the be all end all of entertainers but they do seem to be what most combat typesexpect from entertainers. I have already set up a Jukebox in our mini mall and set one up in our PA hall andI have every intention of replacing them when I get home from work tonight. They won't take the place of outdoor RP events either since they can not beplaced outside.Yes they play music we as musicians will probably never be able to play and yes it would be nice if we could playsome of those songs but some of those songs without a state of the art system will never be played by a live band anywhere.

I only have a couple of problems with them: A) they can only be heard in the room in which they have been placed and not all over the house, B) Having them last a 24hour period in my opinion would be better then a 8 hour period C) I think itwould be great if they would play a selection of songs being able to set of a list of songs they could rotate though would be great, being able to setup how long it will play each song and then it will switch to the next song in the selected list would be very cool I think.

As to the mention earlier of a singer/songwriter profession wth do you need SOE to set of a profession for it we have the /sing emote that lets an entertainer sing to her audience. I, myself, for a Chirstmas party that Solar Flair performed at macroed a number of Christmas songs to be sung while we played for everyone. Now I'm not much of a song writer but I can't see a reason in the world why someone who wishes to be a songwriter cannot do so right now.

There's a huge difference between songwriter and lyricist. The /sing chat function gives us the ability to recite words that show up in a pretty box. Unfortunately, too many people in this worldseem tothink that the only purposefor music is to serve as thevehicle for meaningful words. Yet, most music has no lyrics at all.

I would rather it do that then what it currently does. We already have a NPC BOT that gives those away - buffbots. so that would rarely effect me.
