Thread: HOW TO AFK GRIND DANCER/MUSICAN

There were several sentences, trying to make clear that, we don't have to understand each other, but of course you didn't care about them either. You are like politicians. Grab a sentence that stands offensive ALONE, and attack...wooohooo..is this how you musicians live your lives?
Your initial statement discounted our existence in any way shape form or fashion. You even went as far as to say we should not be here at all in your mind. Such a difiniitive statement of disdain is difficult to turn around from and speak of respect. Can you see it that way, perhaps?Yeah, it's true, I don't want to learn ANYTHING about musician or dancer or ID. Just like I didn't want to learn anything about fencer, architect or stuff too.
*Mindlessly* mastering professions floats my boat, like *mindlessly* playing starwars2 floats yours.
There are methods for doing things in the entertainment professions that are not mindless. Some of which you mentioned. Two that immediately come to mind are chatting and coordinated performance. There are others, of course. I, for one, have a great time doing it, and do not feel at all mindless. I would ask you not discount what we do. Particularly when it is done with folks who have a passion for the profession. Also, if folks care enough to think on, give regular commentary to, and post on the Musician/Dancer/Entertainer forum then they are probably quite passionate.
P.S. No other profession is so obsessive as yours and dancers. I don't get it. Every profession has a thread *Hologrinders-Click here* but you don't. very funny, and if someone asks you a quetion, you all tear him/her up into pieces. In your opininon holo-grinders are mindless, I don't care what you think, but the only difference between us is; I'd sit and tell a nOOb fighter a lot of things if he asked me, give him weapons, armour and credits. Because I carry a tag *HELPER* and I deserve it. I don't go like *I have worked for it, you have to work and learn it yourself...you don't deserve this, it took me 2 months to understand this game*
But I'm not sure what you'd do if someone asked you something...
You are making a bit of a streched assumption in this case. I have received alot of help since I started playing and I have passed what I can to other folks. A large reason folks receive this attitude anymore on the boadrs is due to volume of questions and the rude nature of the question. How many times do we have to read "wnt 2 no hw 2 afk grind 2 gt thru this st00pid music thing, Y U waste ur time bing st00pid with it I dunno" It wears on the nerves, and that is why corrs in various professoins have stickied 'Holo-Grinders look here' threads. It may well be time to have our own so we don't have this same discussion ad nausem.
Thank god all musicians/dancers/ID people are kind in my server. They only kick AFK'ers out of the group if they don't perform, which I do myself, too. And it's very interesting, I m nearly playing the game for 3 months now, I have hunts in Dathomir, Dantooine, Corellia, everywhere, because I m a *mindless* holo-grinder. But I never can find a Musician/Dancer to buff my secondaries when I need
). there are two AFK dancers in Coronet Cantina, one AFK dancer in Dantooine Mining outpost buffing..That's all. Where are you DEDICATED guys hiding if I may ask? I'm on Ahazi. I shout *ANY Master Dancers/Musicians buffing? I'll pay 5000 for buffs* and no answer.
As a full time entertainer I'm ususally in my Player City on Bria healing and buffing guildies. I am almost always in the company of 4-5 others doing the same. Soon, though I'll take a trip to Dantooine or some similar spot to do some work there. Althrough I hear there are not enough persons present from hunting parties to make it worth the while. We shall see.

Damn what a miserable board you musicians have here.I have read both pages on this thread and to be really truthful find a lot of you to be a bit arrogant. If he wants to afk his way thru the proffession then let him do it what has it got to do with you,he pays his money like we all do so its his choice how he wants to play the game. The macro system was meant to be used or else it wouldnt be in the game and if the devs thought that afk macro grinding music and dance was unacceptable it would have been stopped long ago.As far as him ruinin the game for some of you,
just think about it the quicker the hologrinders get the proffession finished the quicker they are out of your hair and your Cantina will be yours again,I say yours but I mean ours the cantinas are for everyone not just the musicians and dancers ,so Entertainers get your head out of the clouds and stop flaming people in such a nasty way there is just no need for it and it makes you look very imature and childish.I enjoy Grinding my way thru musician and spend many hours talking to friends in the cantinas but if for some reason im called away from my keyboard for any length of time i run a afk macro and that is my choice and my choice alone NOT YOURS i paid for this game not you so quit tellin people what they can and cant do coz lets face it what can ya really do about it.
PS I run charachters on 4 differant servers and recognise a few names amongst the people flaming him a few of these I have actually seen using afk macros themselves, this i find hypocritical and just shows the mentality of some people.
Peace OUT

I understand you want to be a Jedi. Honestly, I do. I think it would be fun to be a Jedi too, but I'm not willing to cease having fun to pursue it. Perhaps after publish 10 I'll consider it, but I don't understand how hologrinding is worth it. That doesn't mean I don't respect your option to pursue it, I just have a different opinion.

I chose to reply to that particular comment exactly because the rest of your post was claiming to be understanding. You can't say that you think a profession shouldn't exist and then pretend to respect the people that enjoy it and consider it a big part of the game. The two statements are mutually exclusive.
The way to be a jedi is MASTERING 6 professions that are RANDOM. So if you have a problem with that, you should post it to devs. Devs screwed up, because it has turned out to be holo-grinding craziness. Because of this, I want to master AS FAST AS I CAN. Now they realized their mistake and revamping the jedi system completely. Btw, you don't know anything about how hard is grinding, so respect what you don't know, like I do.
I see. So I'm supposed to gaze in awe at hologrinders because of all the hard work their toons put in while they're at school or watching TV. Hmm.
Yeah, it's true, I don't want to learn ANYTHING about musician or dancer or ID. Just like I didn't want to learn anything about fencer, architect or stuff too.
Fine. We don't care if you don't like our profession or if you feel like you've been forced in to it. But as a sign of respect that you claim you have for us, these opinions should be kept to yourself.
*Mindlessly* mastering professions floats my boat, like *mindlessly*playing starwars2floats yours.
Ok, if you think that mindlessly playing starwars2 is all that there is to the musician profession, you're sadly mistaken. However, too many people truly think that. You know why? Because of the hoards of hologrinders clogging up the cantinas and playing AFK all day.
As for myself and the other ATK musicians in here, there's a lot to enjoy about musicianship if you take the time to learn the quirks. Personally, I find it very satisfying when I finish a multi-part multi-instrument arrangement of a song that came out sounding really, really well.
P.S. No other profession is so obsessive as yours and dancers. I don't get it. Every profession has a thread *Hologrinders-Click here* but you don't. very funny, and if someone asks you a quetion, you all tear him/her up into pieces.
The reason for that "obsessiveness" has been mentioned in these forums a thousand times, and I mentioned again earlier in this post. Hologrinding entertainers are a stain on this profession. They take away our business and give people a warped perspective on what an entertainer actually is. I remember back when I went to a cantina and was able to group up with 2 or 3 people and havea great time playing music. Now I'm lucky to find 2 or 3 people amidst a group of 20 who aren't running a macro. And for a vast majority of players, this is the only "version" of entertainers they actually see, and they have no idea that there's more to it than that.
In your opininon holo-grinders are mindless, I don't care what you think, but the only difference between us is; I'd sit and tell a nOOb fighter a lot of things if he asked me, give him weapons, armour and credits.Because I carry a tag *HELPER* and I deserve it. I don't go like *I have worked for it, you have to work and learn it yourself...you don'tdeserve this, it took me 2 months to understand this game*
But I'm not sure what you'd do if someone asked you something...
If you asked me how to change songs, or needed me to build you an instrument, or asked me to give you some training, I'd be more than happy to offer my assistance, and I'd do it with a smile. But if you come to me and ask for a free pass to what I've worked so hard for, I'm probably not going to be as accomodating.
Thank god all musicians/dancers/ID people are kind in my server. They only kick AFK'ers out of the group if they don't perform, which I do myself, too.

You're assuming that those of us that are dedicated to the profession are therefore dedicated to giving out or selling buffs to any one at any time. The act of entertaining has nothing to do with buffs... buffs are simply one of our abilities. We don't get any XP for buffing either, so it's not like it's advantageous for us to hang around someone waiting for someone to shout for us.
But you're right, it's harder to find us "dedicated" musicians anymore, because we're either drowned out in the cacaphony of hologrinders, or we're performing somewhere where not many people frequent because they'd rather go to a place guaranteed to be packed with hologrinders. I've played in Moenia ATK for hours without seeing more than 5 people walk in to sit down and listen. Plenty of people outside, but they don't bother coming to the cantina because they don't think any entertainers will be there.
So I'm not going to disparage you for wanting to be a Jedi, but I do take issue with your opinion that we should be happy that you're stepping on us to get there.

I'm suremany of youwill lose your freaking minds when I say this, but I can't hold back any longer. I'vebeen reading this forum for a while and seen many of the hologrinders coming here get flamed for asking macro related questions. Wether you like it or not, macros are a part of this game and apparently here to stay. If you chose not to use macros that's fine, but don't tear into someone because they choose to automate their gameplay experience. Keep in mind they pay the same monthly fee as you do.
I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a cantina looking for a mind buff or had a question and not one person responded. There may be several Master Musicians or Dancersin attendencewith their titles displayed, yet not one of them will reply when I send a msgaskingfor a buff. Don't get me wrong, I know some of you are passionate about your profession and do spend alot of time actually playing, although it appears to befew and far between. Numerous times Ive had to hop over to Dantooine, Dathomir, or a player city just to get a buff from a more reliable and seemingly unpopular source... the unattended buff bot.
In short, worry more about yourself and improving your profession. If you cannot answer a hologrinders question without insulting them, just move on.
Apparently you haven't been reading our forum as much as you think you have. I don't think a single person here has complained about having a macro system in the game. In fact, most of us love the macro system because it allows us to create some truly great-sounding performances while being able to keep interacting with our audiences. The problem is when someone comes here and asks us about something we consider to be a game-breaking exploit of the macro system. The EULA, Devs, and in-game CSR's have all confirmed time and time again that unattended macroing is not intended and they consider it to be a major problem.
Chances are the "master" musicians and dancers you are speaking to are themselves, AFK...they probably are trying to work up extra healing xp as master of that profession before they drop it to pick up the other elite entertainment profession. Actually, all Musicians and Dancers are passionate about the profession. We're just sorelyoutnumbered by the musicians and dancers who are just running through afk macrotaining.
We are constantly working at improving the quality of both ourselves and our profession. One of the best things we can lobby for in order to improve our profession is to request the removal of the AFK'ers. Also, we answer all hologrinder questions with the same respect that the question is asked. When someone comes to the forums and says "**edit** te **edit**ing hoelo mad mee pek op this **edit**ing perfeshon gime a macro so I kan goe pwn mor tings agin" I am much less likely to be respectful in my reply than if someone says "Hey, sorry to butt inand clutteryour boards, but I'm choosing to do the holos and wondered if anyone could give me a couple of pointers to doing musician. Thanks."
The fact is, there are hundreds of macros provided on the Musician, Dancer, and Entertainer boards, all it takes is one quick search and these macros will pour out of the system for anyone who actually tries. A little more effort and the macroers could easily create their own macros! No one needs to come here and beg for AFK macros anymore, because they are readily available. (I mean, come on, if the new-born LAMer is looking for a macro, all it has to do is ask someone else in the cantina for the macro they're using...oh wait...never mind, that's not possible because everyone's AFK! My mistake, I guess they can't pick up the macros from the cantina.)
