Thread: HOW TO AFK GRIND DANCER/MUSICAN
doing a profession you dont like (i.e. Musician) ?
When you get a holocron saying Master Dancer/Musician just
delete your char and start new.
When you have done the 28 non Entertainer Professions to
find your "silent"... well.. delete and start new.
In fact Combat AFK Leveling is so easy, you dont lose much.

BUT I don't NOT care for the flaming you do on the people that come in here asking question, sure I know you hate the AFK:ers more than anything, but rest a assured that it will be gone in a few months, why not just help the people move on. Flaming a person asking a question is not ANYTHING else but rude, you are taking out all your anger against this one guy, he hasn't done anything towards you, he might not even be on your server.
The truth of the matter is it's obviously not just our profession that people are grinding through. These threads happen in every profession forum. The difference is that the entertainment professions are the only ones that are DIRECTLY affected by the grinders. The cantinas are our place of business almost exclusively and they are being transformed from social hubs toAFK lagfests.
This is not trueof any of the other professions. Of course the chefs don't care that you're grinding their profession because in all likelyhood you are not going to be a threat to their business. You'll sit in your house and make 2000 Kiwik Clusjo Swirls and you're not in anyone's wayso it's easy for them to say "Here is the quickest route to take. Here are which resources you need. Here is how many of this you have to make toreach master." All this is done without another chef ever having to see you or deal with you except maybefor training. Medics have it easy since they have bucketfulls of AFK entertainers to AFK heal.
Although I hearAFK combat is already happening it's not being done in a social situation where your character is directly affected by the holozombie so most people just shrug it off. As others have saidif people figured out a way to group with someone, followedthem aroundspamming "please invite me to your hunting group" every 2 minutes, leeching off theirxp and harvestingtheir kills the combat professions would get annoyedtoo. Especially when you sold the hides you got AFK for thousands taking away business from the person you were following around. I'm not saying this is possible but you can see how this would be frustrating. That's how it feels to us.

Just make a sticky and explain the macro's required to master the prof as fast as possible to get rid of the hologrinders cluttering up your board.
Although I don't post very often I've always read this board and this was exactly the attitude most people took in the beginning. We figured get them in and out as quick as possible. The thing is this is not what's happening,the cantinas are more crowded with AFKers than ever before. It's getting worse.
I appreciate your concern and I know you're being sincere. Idon't know what the solution is but I know that I've stopped playingmusic except at parties because of this. Right or wrong is has affectedus and I think we have the right to be annoyed.
Until it's dealt with I'll be happy doing other professions where I don't have to deal with AFKers.
Though the hologrinders are a pain in the arse, the worst are the ones that have to spam "Invite me and heal me" every 30 seconds. Yes, there is the /addignore feature, and I am a rabid user of it now thanks to the afk hologrinders. What makes me sad is that someday I may actually wish to listen to these people in a social atmosphere, but know that these are not social creatures. Then comes the time when they spam non stop that they need app xp so that they can make master. The entertainer fields are actually quite alot of fun if you can learn to "play" your character. App xp comes easy as there is almost always someone making their next level on knowledge. I've learned many things while grinding away in the cantina that I would not have otherwise learned. I know how to infuriate many folks instantly with my pickpocket macro "/emote picks your pocket for (27) credits and (2) items." just to have them all laugh when they find out that they've been had. My hologrinder masteredthrough the entire entertainer field in a single week. That was probably the most fun week that I've had in the game. Then I have my musician on another server that is dedicated to the cause. I find myself playing that character alot more often nowadays.
I guess my main point is that even though you feel you are 'forced' into flying through musician/dancer/entertainer/ID, you should take the time and have fun with it.

Come back and give us your opinion when someone figures out how to afk macro everything you do and drives your lil shop SW of Theed out of business... Intill then you have no clue how we feel.
Are you saying that this isn't already happening? There are new architects flooding the market everyday with their low priced hologrind products. It takes 3-4 hours to master Architect when you have the right resources which you can buy for about 2 million credits. It is really annoying to see them sell products you KNOW they hardly break even on, but they do it to recoup the millions they spent on resources to get to master. So I DO know how it feels.
*I* however, don't flame them because of it. It the way it is now. There isn't much I can do about it and flaming them certainly is going to make them stop hologrinding. The only comfort I have is that they will not last long and they are usually gone within two, three weeks. But of course then there are a bunch of new once....
I do feel for you guys, and I do NOT care for the hologrinders, I am not taking their side, all I am saying is try not flame people, it isn't very productive. Try and be the bigger person, help them out and count the days till patch 10, that's what I do.

So the hostility in this forums stem from the fact that typically the people that pop in to the forums asking how to grind it just don't understand that some people actually chose this profession. They come in asking, "What's the quickest way I can get this stinking profession out of my way?" and the people that care about this profession take it personally.
Do you really blame them?
Well, written post m8. Five stars to you.
I don't understand how you guys think that I am on "their" side. Where did you get that idea from? I do not care for the AFKers and I do not care for hologrinding. BUT, I also think that people should be polite and help each other out. That is just the way I am. I just want the world to be a better place, and why not start at yourself and try to better the person around you next? The hostility on the forums are insane, why not try and make this a nice meeting ground? You say you like the social aspects of the game, why not be social here? Try and be polite to everyone asking questions. Help them with their macros and ask them not to have /say HEAL ME! in their macros.
You should be a very strong community since you have a common enemy, show you strength and be the better persons.

Well it is kinda hard, when all they respond is "Please invite m to your group!" "I auto-join!"
And the AFKers usually arent very nice. One dude just left the group because I had a big AFK discussion with him, then when I ask him if heis there, he just gets all hissy and leaves the group.....
My two cents:
I know this is a Musician thread, but I would like to think this applies to Musician too.
Asa relative newcomer to SWGwho's trying to Master Dancer, I get very frustrated with people who go AFK 30 seconds after they join your group,don't even say "Hi" when you welcome them and, of course, after about an hour their avatar stops performing.
Then there's the "Please tip me" message every minute, or the "/Demand HealMe" message which gets spammed in group chat. If people can't be bothered to use "/say" or switch to Spatial when asked I'll kick them. They are obviously not interested in making the "grind" enjoyable for others. Nine times out of ten they don't need healing, usually because their macro has packed-up. And don't start me on permanently AFK group leaders. As for tips, I'd guess anyone who's pushy about it doesn't get tipped.
When I first bought this game I thought Entertainer would be a really pants profession, but started it because I thought my avatar might appreciate letting her hair down at the end of a hard day's crafting. I actually had no intention to Master it. Now I enjoy being a Dancer, mainly because of the conversations we have in-group while our avatars macro away. It's also a very good profession for getting APs, money for buffs, and (once) being bribed 50k to let someone join our group. Of course the tips help too!
I've come up with some"guidelines" to make Entertaining more pleasurable and to help the group get maximum xp:
--
* I don't invite people who spam "Please invite me". I'll /say "we have space send a tell for an invite" If they want to join a group they can make a tiny effort to get into one.
* If you spam in group chat you may get kicked.
* If you go LD you may get kicked and replaced with someone who isn't.
* If your avatar stops performing you may get kicked and replaced with someone's who is doing some flourishes.
* A sense of humour helps.
* If you never bother to interact with the rest of the group, you may not get re-invited.
* If you're going to go Out of Range for more than a couple of minutes please /leavegroup.
* If you can't cope with the above don't ask to join my group. As has been mentioned in other posts: You do have a choice.

I'd better stop now before I get upset.
I'm really surprised whenI read this thread. Why are you so rude to people???
What a sickthought is that*I hate holo-grinders* ???
- Find a good group
- Stick around and interact for a little while, never hurts being friendly
- Use this macro (I assume you can modify this macro to fit your needs)
/startmusic [your most advanced song];
/pause [time in seconds];
/flourish [1-8];
/pause [time in seconds];
/join;
/macro [this macro's name];
If you are in a group you might want to leave out the song name in case you can play whatever song the group is playing. While you are gaining healing xp and have cash buy JUNK metal or harvest it. Crafting instruments in practice mode will give you far more musician xp then performing flourishes. (I myself am currently in the process of getting musician so I don't know how accurate this statement is as you progress up the tree but it applies to me now so I will share it.) When crafting and using this macro make sure the resources you need are easy to find in the resource window because you will not have much time to find and click on them. These are the conditions where I have used this marco:
- Place general, weapon, and droid crafting tools in toolbar slot nn - nn+4 (5 tools)
- Stand near a crafting station of the same type
- Remove as many non-required resources to a backpack or your house
- Use the following macro
/ui action toolbarSlotnn;
/selectDraftSchematic [schematic number of slitherhorn, zero-indexed, refer to schematics under ctrl-d];
/pause [time in seconds, this is where you allocate resources];
(Repeat the above for each crafting tool you use and change the toolbarSlot accordingly)
/pause [time in seconds, used to prevent a crafting request to a station that is crafting];
/macro [name of this macro];
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/pause 1;
/ui action toolbarSlotnn;
/selectDraftSchematic [schematic number of slitherhorn, zero-indexed, refer to schematics under ctrl-d];
/pause [time in seconds, this is where you allocate resources];
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/pause 1;
(Repeat the above for each crafting tool you use and change the toolbarSlot accordingly)
/pause [time in seconds, used to prevent a crafting request to a station that is crafting];
/macro [name of this macro];
Look at Ctrl-s to verify you are gaining musician xp. This macro worked great for me.

In fact I think a profession like musician should never exist. But I always show respect to every single person, not caring the way they play.
Way to show respect. Express disdain for the existence of a group people. Lovely.
Look, I'll whittle this down to be as concise as possible:
We can dance and play music all day long, and it does not prevent you from gaining your jedi slotnor affect you in anyway in pursuit of your jedi slot.
While in pursuit of your jedi slot, if you AFK musician or dancer, it DOES affect career-entertainers in ways discussed a hundred times a day on these forums.
If you don't care to understand why we like entertaining, that's fine. I personally can't understand why someone would pay $15/month to let their computer play the game for them until think it's worth it. But when it all comes down to it, hologrinders are an intrusive presence to ANY profession, especially the entertainment professions.
As far as coming to this board to ask how to do it faster, you're wrong in assuming this is the place to come. This board is filled with the people that care about this profession. A majority of us are not hologrinders, and when someone comes in and disrespects the work that we have put in to it by asking what the easiest/fastest/laziest way is to get "past" it, of course it's going to tick some people off.
In real life I'm a computer programmer. In my field I've seen a lot of so-called "programmers" with degrees up the wazoo that couldn't write a decent program to save their life. They most likely went through school doing the bare minimum required to pass thier classes, without ever really bothering to learn anything. It's even possible that the only reason they went through the degree program to begin with was because someone told them that's where the money was.
Now me, I love programming. I have a passion for it, and that passion makes me good at it, no matter how many degrees I have. When I have to take time out of my day to teach someone with a master's degree how to click a mouse, it makes my blood boil. This person obviously never cared about the profession, they just wanted to get to the end as fast as possible so they could retire in Tahiti with three wives and a sailboat.
So coming in to this forum asking how to AFK macrois like walking up to me asking for a cheat sheet to the final in a programming class, and my answers going to be the same in either case: go learn it yourself.
Now, for what it's worth, if mindlessly mastering professions floats your boat, then by all means, sail away. But ifyou want to cheat on the test, don't ask for help from the professionals, ask for help from the other cheaters. At least you know they won't get mad at you for asking, and they'll probably have a better idea about how to cheat than the people that never tried to.
I guess what I'm saying is this:if you don't like the hostility, don't provoke it.
*Bc my only aim in this game is BEING A JEDI. You don't have to understand this, like I don't understand why you want to be a musician. So we respect each other, and we get along.*
This was another sentence in my post, but of course you didn't care
)
There were several sentences, trying to make clear that, we don't have to understand each other, but of course you didn't care about them either. You are like politicians. Grab a sentence that stands offensive ALONE, and attack...wooohooo..is this how you musicians live your lives?
The way to be a jedi is MASTERING 6 professions that are RANDOM. So if you have a problem with that, you should post it to devs. Devs screwed up, because it has turned out to be holo-grinding craziness. Because of this, I want to master AS FAST AS I CAN. Now they realized their mistake and revamping the jedi system completely. Btw, you don't know anything about how hard is grinding, so respect what you don't know, like I do.
Yeah, it's true, I don't want to learn ANYTHING about musician or dancer or ID. Just like I didn't want to learn anything about fencer, architect or stuff too.
*Mindlessly* mastering professions floats my boat, like *mindlessly*playing starwars2floats yours.
P.S. No other profession is so obsessive as yours and dancers. I don't get it. Every profession has a thread *Hologrinders-Click here* but you don't. very funny, and if someone asks you a quetion, you all tear him/her up into pieces.
In your opininon holo-grinders are mindless, I don't care what you think, but the only difference between us is; I'd sit and tell a nOOb fighter a lot of things if he asked me, give him weapons, armour and credits.Because I carry a tag *HELPER* and I deserve it. I don't go like *I have worked for it, you have to work and learn it yourself...you don'tdeserve this, it took me 2 months to understand this game*
But I'm not sure what you'd do if someone asked you something...
Thank god all musicians/dancers/ID people are kind in my server. They only kick AFK'ers out of the group if they don't perform, which I do myself,too.
And it's very interesting, I m nearly playing the game for 3 months now, I have hunts in Dathomir, Dantooine, Corellia, everywhere, because I m a *mindless* holo-grinder. But I never can find a Musician/Dancer to buff my secondaries when I need
). there are two AFK dancers in Coronet Cantina, one AFK dancer in Dantooine Mining outpost buffing..That's all. Where are you DEDICATED guys hiding if I may ask? I'm on Ahazi. I shout *ANY Master Dancers/Musicians buffing? I'll pay 5000 for buffs* and no answer.
