Aziz, you have to make instruments to get Master Musician? I guess I better start working on that. I've just been buying or having bandmembers donate my instruments to me...

Sorry, I wasn't clear. You have to learn the entire tech tree, which gives that ability. I'm sure most people would love to skip the tech tree and just get all the instruments and songs, too, but it's required. I was just saying it's the same sort of deal to get the master musician stuff.

"You'd lose any reward for master entertainer."

No you wouldn't. I haven't seen anyone suggest removing all rewards from Master Entertainer. It makes more sense to change the rewards to somethingother than unique instruments/dances/tunes. There are plenty of other carrots.

"Seems fairly simple to me. If you want it, go get it."

It's not that simple. The game code can and will be changed in many different areas. This is one area where some people think that change is important.

"If you can propose an option that gets you the song and mandolin for freeyet stillleavesa reward in master entertainer that makes a musician say 'gosh, I REALLY want THAT', be my guest."

Already done, see above, feel free to add your own: )

The only suggestion I've seen is to give master entertainers folk2 or rock2 and take away ceremonial and mandovial. Then you'd all be complaining that we have folk2 or rock2 and you don't, how is that fixing the problem.

As I've already posted, ceremonial and mandovial are not a reward for doing hair. Master entertainer is a reward for doing music, dance and image design, but the song/instrument is a reward for the music portion of that accomplishment. You also get dances as a ME, which is a reward for the dance portion of it. Master entertainers are excellent musicians, they just happen to be very versatile as well!

The song and instrument are the only things that would ever make a Musician think about Master Entertainment. The sad thing is our carrot is much bigger than the dancer's carrot. They only get upgraded versions of dances. That's wrong. If we get a unique instrument and a unique song, they should get two unique dances (that aren't improved on elsewhere.) That's the problem with Master Entertainer.

Nifty, that is a problem with dancing in general, not master entertainer. Look at the first two levels of the novice dance line, they get popular2 and then poplock2. So based on how the dance progression works, formal2 is a reward (it's actually a great dance, too bad most of the people watching it can't view it correctly).

"The only suggestion I've seen is to give master entertainers folk2 or rock2 and take away ceremonial and mandovial."

Then let me repeat my ideas:

- schematics for party favors (or something) that would let anyone perform Colored Lights, Spotlight, Smoke Bomb, etc.

- ability animations, Juggling, Backflip, entertaining things like that

"Then you'd all be complaining that we have folk2 or rock2 and you don't, how is that fixing the problem."

I disagree. There is a big difference between upgraded versions of songs you already have, and the only stringed instrument in the game. Some might still complain, but it would be far fewer.

Trillion (spelling it right this time, sorry for previous error!) I didn't really care. Just was the first time I've seen someone explicity say they were doing the exact same thing as me! Was kinda cool actually. I'm sure others will master all 3 as well. In fact, I might not master pistol and save some points for Artisan/Survey and make money selling resources. who knows.

"I don't think emotes are a fair trade off for the mandovial ..."

You wouldn't have to trade. Mandovial would be in your Musician line : )

Gah, I'd just about given up on going for Master Entertainer until I read this thread -- and until I heard my first mandoviol today. I don't mind learning some Image Design and Dancing -- in fact, they both are pretty fun. I just don't want to give up my side-careers in crafting and combat. Decisions, decisions.

Social animations and party favors?

I don't think emotes are a fair trade off for the mandovial, but I would love to get schematics for party favors, just not colored lights... most of us can do colored lights as well as having master entertainer. hehe Hey, anything cool enough to make a feasibly permanent source of money though... I'd be all for that!

Having said that, if you don't see why a master entertainer would have a song and an instrument, how could you justify them being able to make party favors! It has nothing to do with any of the skills they have. And don't tell me it's because they are entertaining, or I will just steal that line for why I get what I get already! "Why do I have to do hair to make party favors! This should be in the artisan line!"

Seriously though I think you're onto something. Let's petition to get us some party favor schematics in the music and dance lines! I'd settle for the fireworks schematics, whatdoyasay? I am only going to be able to sell instruments for so long before everyone has them all, and lord forbid I have to rely on tips for the rest of my career!
