Thread: Cantina Tables and Chairs the key to ending AFK buffing?

This sounded complicated when I wrote it out normally, so I'll write an example of how it could work.
Lilo is buffing people using the new table interface.
Warryyr walks in needing a buff. Seeing that Lilo is busy buffing a table, he saunters over and, being the generous Wookiee he is, he enters 100k as his offer of payment if Lilo lets him join the table.
Lilo receives a popup asking if 100k is an acceptable bid for Warryyr to join the table.
Lilo agrees and hits "yes" which is not the default button.
Warryyr joins the table and gets his buff.
It's a simple way of giving the Entertainer power over who is going to get buffed, and uses a ui popup where the default button is to refuse the offer, so it is impossible to macro with in-game mechanics, and neither Enter nor Esc will allow the buff to go forward, so there's no setting heavy objects on the keyboard to AFK buff.
Does this sound like enough to stop botting while still being easy/fast enough for us to use?
Hmmm...sounds good to me ![]()
It'd be a nice way to control who joins the table mid-buff. Perhaps this pop up would appear before any person joins the table? Even when the Entertainer first joins the table and lets the first person join?
I'm down with your concern over someone weighing down a key or using a "drinky-drinky bird" to hit keys, or something weird lol. If people can use a stack of Post-Its and a "drinky-drinky bird" to defeat this system, they WILL ![]()

great idea lilo!

Haven't quite worked that out. What are your thoughts on that? That's a really good point.
- Buff system gets initiated (Warryyr's table idea, or some other system)
- Player needing buff makes monetaryoffer for buff in the UI
- Entertainer accepts/declines offer in the UI(decline is default, as Lilo so ingeniously came up with!)
- Player is now able to receive Entertainer's buff (which begins immediately if the Entertainer is already performing)
- Player receives a system message when the buff starts to take effect (2 minute mark)
- Player receives a system message when the buff is fully applied (whenever that is based on the flourishes of the Entertainer)
- Player /stopwatch or /stoplisten
- Player removed from buff system
- Player is buffed and happy
- Entertainer is paid and is happy
I think this is such an improvement over the current system, that I would probably actually put up my Master Music tag and buff people!

o Not that I care so much about that personally, but TH has expressed concerns about how the removal of AFK macroing might affect peoples' ability to get buffs during the off hours when"no Entertainers are around"

I have to say, this sentimentdrives me up the WALL. I will put this as clearly and concisely as possible.
PEOPLE WHO CANNOT FIND A BUFF ON OFF HOURS WILL SURVIVE WITHOUT THEM.
They will not wither away into nothingness. They will not spontaneously combust. The world will not implode if they cannot find a buff. What happens if they need a doctor buff and can't find them? They get around them. They do not parade onto the doctor boards and demand an alternate for when the docs are not online. I cannot understand how these players can, on one hand, claim to be so dependent on us, and claim that we are indispensable, and on the other hand treat us like total garbage, a useless, interchangeable commodity that's only there for THEIR needs.

Great way of putting it, Fuschia! I'm glad you're back.
I've said the same thing in the past--not nearly so big and pink though
As I said, I don't find it a valid concern, but THobviously did for whatever reason. The argument "I can't find a buff during off hours because no one plays then" has GOT to be the weakest argument out there. Xyrdre admitted to being one of those Entertainers who plays during the off hours when no Entertainers play. And there are plenty more out there.

The only reason I like dancer is the passiveness of the healing mechanic.
