Thread: Poll: the new Musician quests on TC

1.

It's against any previous precendent to require xp to receive new profession content.

If we're paying xp to learn the new song, as ifwe're "learninganew skill box" in Music Knowledge, I'm curious as to why Doctors didn't have to pay xp to "learn a new skillbox" in Doctor's Crafting for their Area Disease/Poison Cures, or Disease/Poison Resist buffs schematics.

If the xp requirement, for some mysterious reason, must be impressed upon us, I request Option 2 - lessen the xp requirement. This is only if the Devs feel it necessary to cost us Music xp. I sincerely hope they remove the xp requirement all together.

If a Novice Musician can succesfully complete the quest, they should also be able to utilize the reward. The xp cap at Novice Musician prevents them from obtaining 400k xp, until they get, for example, Music Knowledge 4, and then they can start working on banking 400k xp. Seems like a lot of work for them after they've already done their quest and got their reward - just to use the reward they've earned. It may only serve to encourage the Novice Musician to AFK macroto "just let him use this reward he/she got a long time ago."

Edit: Forgot to mention. I also feel it unbalanced to force Dancers or Musicians to sacrifice their xp given the new Jedi Quests. Before the Force Sensitivity xp trade-in, extra xp didn't really matter. This quest was probably developed before any of the Jedi Quest functionality got hammered out. The xp requirement doesn't fit with the game in it's current state. Now extra xp is quite valuable, if seeking Force Sensitivity. Don't penalize Dancers and Musicians who are pursuing Force Sensitivity by making them decide between new profession content (which we've all wanted for a long time) or 40,000 FS xp. If they're pursuing a Jedi, a Dancer or Musician shouldn't have to make that choice. Their path to Jedi shouldn't be hindered by their desire for new content. No other profession is being hindered on their path to Force Sensitivity in this way. If the xp requirement is implemented, I see it as a directshot at Dancers and Musicians pursuing FS. I see it as forcing us to make a choice no other profession has ever had to make. Advancement in Force Sensitivity, or new profession content.

Thank youfor the opportunity to express my thoughts regarding this matter.

1 - abolish the whole thing.

I haven't kept up on this much, but when I heard that you have to give up xp points to get this, my first reaction was, "That's pretty silly." We didn't have to give up xp for any of the other songs/dances we received, so why is this one different? Why not just make it a new song/dance for masters? I think to be fair, if they are going to keep this requirement, they should make combat classes give up xp to do the corvette, etc..

It just baffles me that this is the first new thing entertainers have received since the game was released (I don't count /denyservice as any sort of major update) and we have to pay for it? What about all the "free" things the combat classes have received?

To be fair, make the xp requirement for every class's quests, or make it for none of them. My preference is to make it for none.

1) Abolished

Mesca Phost - Scylla - Rifleman/Ranger/Pilot
Crem Darkstrider - Wanderhome - Smuggler/TK/Brawler/Pilot
Mesca' Phost - Bria - Grand Master Entertainer
(Master Ent/Music/Dance/ID)

Cancelled 7/27/05 - I joined to play Star Wars, not Jedi-BH Wars. You've ignored/gutted/abused just about every other profession in the game, while spending most of your time working on Jedi and BH as they related to Jedi. You've basically killed the game for anyone who doesn't want the glowstick. Congratulations.

Easy for me to get the new stuff because I capped out xp a long time ago. However, I do acknowledge the fact that this is unfair to those pursuing Jedi. In fact, it just seems like one more obstacle added to the many obstacles already set before us in this Jedi pursuit. (ie, no Jedi quests, the fact that we now have to continue dealing with tons of afk while we play atk, because of FS experience, etc.)

I guess overall I'd have to say #1, simply because no other class has to trade in xp for quest rewards. If the devs want a time associated cost like with most entertainer content, then they simply need to make the quest take more time.

Edited to add that IF every new profession based quest from here on out will require the trade in of xp, then I would vote #3. If not, and we are the only ones that have to deal with even more entertainer inequality, then my vote still stands at #1.

No other quest reward requires you to spend XP to acquire it, why entertainers, and why in the wake of the FS quests which also require XP to be converted/spent? Is this a new trend in how quests will be completed in this game (read: yet another timesink)?

Give us our reward, we have waited for over a year, for anything, something.

STOP ignoring us!!!

As its highly unlikely to get abolished i'd have to go with option 2

400k xp is a mighty cost to pay for a new song, at the very most 200k xp would be acceptable.

Going to go with 1 - two reasons:

First - It's a heck of a lot of XP for one new song/dance

Second - It's just encouraging us to grind xp again... when what we really want to do is dance or play. Just adding insult to injury so to speak.

Why should we be singled out as the only class that has to perform a quest and pay for the result with XP? It's absurd!

3!

for two reasons :

1. I like optional quests and varied challenging time-consumingQuest steps.

2. I like having things in the game that you really have to work for - so that everybody could have them but not everybody does.

Variety is the spice of life.

Number 1.

For all the reasons I have stated in other threads. I will not agree with anything else. I think the others summed it up quite nicely.
