So long as AFK continues, our professions continue to die and become jokes in SWG.
This does nothing to help us, this gives bots more to play with.
I appreciate each and every improvement that comes our way, but these are not "positive changes."
These are LONG OVERDUE fixes and updates to us.
Bottom line: disappointed.
This game deserves better.
"More content" means nothing, when obtaining the content means nothing. That's exactly what it is to bots - nothing. Our skills are nothing to obtain and use. That is truly the saddest thing about these changes. They mean nothing to obtain.
Copy/paste macro, hit F key, Master Dancer/Musician without any effort except to make sure your computer didn't crash or the server didn't reset. That's pathetic.
I know I'm being overwhelmingly negative, but I was really hoping to have our professions mean something in this game again. That is the only definition I have of "positive changes."
As I basically said in the feedback thread, they can't even give me a bandaid to help with our AFK wounds. They give us a new hat, while we bleed to death.
And I seriously hope the new songs loop better than that Western travesty, that's basically 1 flourish with slight variations (persistent and repetitive note patterns most noticeable at the end of each and every flourish, always ending in the same fashion).
Bah, we're still dying - and I was hoping we'd get a life preserver. Instead they threw us a pair of shoes and some spiffy sunglasses. We'll drown, but we'll look better doing it. Doesn't help much.

Reposted here from the other thread:
One thing at a time. They obviously hear us and are working to appease us. I applaud the changes and am delighted to see them...and a little excited. That there are changes instead of the continued blank stare indicates that we are not as ignored as some would have us believe.
One thing at a time. I am anti-bot, just like the rest of you, and I believe the bot days are numbered, but I have seen great things coming from behind the scenes and into the light in the past few months. I will continue to hold out hope that the bots will go the way of the dodo bird. In the meantime though, I plan to enjoy the game and the new changes.
Maybe I am being overly optimistic, I suppose I could be seen that way. I just prefer to enjoy what I DO have while I have it and not let the negative get me down. I see these changes asa step in the right direction, I applaud them, and I will enjoy them, and I will hold out hope that they are just a step on the path and not the arrival at a destination. I look forward to future changes and pray bot removal is one of them.

A reminder, since people are discussing our outstanding issues: I'm going to be tallying up the Top Issues for Musicians pretty soon, so if you haven't listed your issues, or you have something to change/add, hurry up and get them in!

Give me a unique sound for each instrument, or increase the number of songs to equal the number of dances that are available to the dancers, then I may be more enthused.
Dances:
basic
rhythmic
footloose
formal
popular
poplock
lyrical
exotic
exotic3
exotic4
theatrical
Music:
starwars1
rock
starwars2
folk
starwars3
ceremonial
ballad
waltz
jazz
virtuoso
western
Looks like 11 vs 11 to me. And that's being generous in calling exotic3/exotic4 their own dances. (All the exotics added together have enough unique flourishes for one full dance.) None of the "2" dances are really their own dance, the flourishes are the same as the 1 dances, only the base dance differs.

Regardless, while Dancers got a special bit of loving in this (The Dance Bug Fix) That's only because they've had that bug since the beginning (And we haven't), and they've finally fixed it (Supposedly).
I would say there is a musician bug that could be considered an equivelent of that dance bug, and it wasn't mentioned. The one where anyone can move a Nal/Omni. Hopefully that will get addressed at some point soon too.

Yeah, I had that happen to me twice last night by two different people. Pissed me off, too. I commented to both of them how it wasn't nice to do that, and the second of the two responded "Oh, I just wanted to see if they'd fixed that yet." Check the forums, you frickin'.... The first one just /rofl'd and went on his way.
If they'd done it again, I would have reported them and told them as such, whether the CSRs would have done anything about it or not.

To nitpick, musicians have a lot more variety in songs. we may only have 11 songs, but we have different instruments.
I like the changes. any changes is a positive step. All these changes gives us more in this next patch then we have EVER recieved.
I for one will be happy with the change, as the game will be better than before. it is far from perfect and as long as the devs keep us in mind and fix stuff that has been bugging us from the beginning i will be happy.
Not to say im not disappointed. I would have loved to see AFK abolished. I would have loved to see all bugs fixed. i would have loved to see all instruments have a unique sound. I would have loved to see the nal/om target bug or the other player moving bug go away.
i will take what i get, when we dont normally get anything.

I posted my feed back in the In Dev thread. Some nice fixes/changes coming. And now for a rant...
I am rather disgusted by certain members of our community right now. We get some nice changes, some GREAT bug fixes, a couple new songs/dances (which had BETTER not have an XP cost), and instead of acknowledging it, people are saying "Is that it? That's nothing". All because the big issue was not addressed.
Did you really expect the removal of AFK was going to be our announcement? I had no such delusions. Why? Because it's not JUST an Entertainer issue. AFK problems extend to a whole lot more professions. It will not be easy for the devs to remove AFK for all profs without breaking something else or rendering macros useless. They made a small step recently to fight AFK by stopping combat players from attacking with the AFK tag up. That's just step one, one easily countered, but a step in the right direction nonetheless.
Were you expecting the announcement to be that the Enterainer Revamp is ready for discussion, or coding or going to TC? Again, if so, you were deluding yourselves. It's been the position of the Devs for a long time that it would be the Combat Upgrade, then non-combat revamps. As down on the general way things have gone (or not gone) in recent months, I'm still holding the Devs to it.
Just as I'm holding them to removing AFK, especially the buff bots we all know and loathe. Of course we want them gone yesterday, but the primary focus of the devs is the Combat Upgrade and the new expansion. But to rip the devs for giving us some attention, on long overdue fixes, just because it wasn't what you wanted really ticks me off, quite frankly. We get some dev time and it's met by complaining because it wasn't all you wanted it to be. It's not the Revamp...it's not SUPPOSED to be *poof* Enterainer all fixed.
A BETTER way to have gone about it would be to so them a bit of appreciation for the fixes and changes. THEN go back to riding the devs behind's to get rid of the damned AFK problem we have. What I saw in the In Dev thread brought to mind ungrateful children because they didn't get everything they wanted for children.
I for one will enjoy the new dances (I hope they look good), the new music (I hope they sound good), becoming a master of every entertainer profession and not having to deal with that *!@# 15 second delay. And while I'm enjoying those, I'll be back to pester the devs to get rid of AFK.

I only have this to say. I've made a lot of...petulant posts over the last week and a half. That said, it was because of the wait. I'm thrilled by the news listed. We've already gotten that dev is working on the afk issue and i think they're fully aware of how we feel about that topic. They are experimenting at least with the AFK issue in other ways, and I'm sure that they're working on fixing this in our own class.
So if we get off that topic...wow. This is more than I expected! Much more, in fact. It's going to give us a lot new to do and experience and that is exactly what we've been asking for. I'm done complaining and have a huge smirk on my face now as I am starting to grind through novice dancer
There's always room for improvement. I feel like they've listened to us, and we're all a family again. Sure the developers ran a little late, but so does my Aunt Beth. It doesn't mean you still don't invite her to dinner...

Ok, now that I've calmed down a bit.
I'm ecstatic we got new stuff. It's about friggin time.
But, Scip - from now on, in every single "top issues" post, my response will always be the same until something is done:
1. STOP THE AFK
2.STOP THE AFK
3. STOP THE AFK
4. STOP THE AFK
5. STOP THE AFK
6. STOP THE AFK
7. STOP THE AFK
8. STOP THE AFK
9. STOP THE AFK
10.STOP THE AFK
I don't care about giving bots more nifty songs to play and dances to do. I WANT MY PROFESSIONS BACK.
Filthy AFK thieves.
I also formally requested a reassurance from the Devs that they will be ending AFK botting of our professions. I did so in the feedback thread. I await any reply. *laughs so hard he falls out of his chair*

I'm not going to argure about what should and shouldn't be considered a dance or a song. You want to be happy to have what you consider an equal number of dances and songs already, ok, be happy. I'd rather see more variation of the songs as well as new songs to play.

I'm not going to give a whole lot of feedback right now...
But here's what I feel like saying...
As far as the actual stuff they are putting in/fixing
They seem to be great. I'm not sure about the ID skill Point Reduction... being able to master all 4 entertainer professions is very cool, other than that, it seems like a confession that IDers just aren't as worthy of the SP... which in all honestly, however, is basically fair enough to say.
Removing the timer is nice... not sure how it may hurt the anti-grinding of it, but regardless I think it's better without the timer, it really hurt the non-power-grinders skill progression.
The Dancer changes seem VERY nice to me.
The FIX for all those broken dances is the biggest thing on that list and the only one that really makes me slightly excited. Yay for legendary bug-fixes.
Falling down was too frequent for Dancers. So, they're completely removing it, I see that as better than leaving it in this way, /appluad.
New dances, /cheer.
Okay, now on to OUR stuff...
Two new songs /cheer.
They say they'll be in the skill tree... I still resent that 400k xp payment for western (regardless of how much I had saved up).
Removed start/stop timer /cheer. (Hey, this is actually for Dancers AND Musicians...)
Well, that is huge, because I really despised that timer (As it related to legitimate entertainers).
However, I do wonder if the exploits will be back or if they have successfully removed/fixed that problem.
Are they really "Removing" the timer, or are they switching it around (Like had been discussed before) to begin the timer upon starting the song/dance?
As I said above... that's my feedback on the actual changes being mentioned and put on test soon.
Any other feedback I could give, would actually be about the things NOT listed there...
I don't feel like doing that.
While the smugglers' news today is merely design documents, and ours are actualy things that will be going on test "Soon", those documents look really amazing.
I hope that they can achieve those kinds of goals (And some time soon) for the Smugglers and I hope that one day, our revamp will look as good.
It's designs like those (for the Smugglers) that make me think of a game that doesn't truly exist anymore... with the majority of the current player-base.
A game where we all just enjoyed "playing" and immersed ourselves in a bit of make-beleieve.
Grinding and AFKers have stripped the game's community of these concepts... but hopefully over time, designs like those will be coded into this game (For all Professions) and things will get better... most importantly, people will be able to let go and have more fun.
AFKers have to go before that can happen though.
May the force be with you.
