I say again here as I said there. Is that it?

To my knowledge this makes the first time a profession has had its skill points reduced, though there was one that had everything removed (see: Politician). This could be the beginning of a more fluid profession system that might be coming with the CU/RB, where some professions take more skillpoints than others due to increased power, benefits, etc.

Or not. Maybe the devs just feel that while it takes a steady hand and steady mind to aim a rifle perfectly and draw a bead on someone's head, anyone can apply a bit of blush. Not meaning any disrespect to ID's, of course. I hope that some additional goodies come for ID's with the CU/RB, too (see: disguises).

Too bad I'm dropping Musician this weekend.

What do you mean "is that it?" That's a tremendous addition. It doesn't fix every bug on the table, but the addition of new songs and new dances is a huge content boost for Entertainers.

BH was reduced from master marksman/master scout down to just master marksman 4000 scout. Not a direct skill tree reduction, but a reduction none the less

Give me a unique sound for each instrument, or increase the number of songs to equal the number of dances that are available to the dancers, then I may be more enthused.

Ok, I'm familiar with the truism that when you're given an inch you should take a mile. That's all well and good, but seriously, I expected more rejoicing out of an announcement like this.

Very true. We're not actually getting some of the major fixes we wanted as soon as we wanted. *cough* AFK *cough* However, we ARE getting several of our top issues worked a little further toward fixing. Some of the things they broke, like introducing the 15 second delay, are going to be fixed too. In addition, they're adding something I've only dreamed about--making it possible to have a triple mastery in Music, Dance, and Image Design. It's been one of my character's dreams for a long long time.

All in all, I'd say this is THE most positive change to come down the line for the Entertainment professions since the game went live. I know, it's been two years and additions like this should ideally happen much more often, but griping about the changes is NOT going to make the devs any more likely to want to do further Entertainer content in the future. Let's take this for what it is--something well-deserved and finally making its way to us. Lets take this and then gently remind the Devs that there is more they need to do to revive our professions.

so...

Break out the HAWTpants and rest assured in the knowledge that everyone will be seeing you dance instead of wriggling around drunk. Have fun! Enjoy the new songs! Lets make the most of this and then get ready to ask for more.

Copied from my reply in the In Dev thread:

The entertainer profession is dying. Day after day I see my live entertainer friends drop the skills or just quit. Live entertainment is on life support in most galaxies, cantinas are empty. Live entertainment has massive head wounds and a brain hemorage, and these changes are like giving us candy to take our mind off of them. What will these changes do? Temporarily increase the number of AFK grinders in the cantinas (since lets face it, most cantinas are dead not only from lack of live entertainment, but I routinely go to Theed on Flurry and see only 1 or 2 AFK ents and 0 live). Yeah you may see a few people return for these changes for a few weeks, maybe a few months, but once the newness wears off and people head back to using the good ole faithful bots, well, we're still laying here in bed on life support, still on the verge of death.

But hey, at least we have candy.

And now that we have these "fixes" we should probably just shut up and stop pestering the devs. After all, they gave us SOMETHING! I mean sure, we're still nowhere near viable as a "real" profession like the combat, healing, and crafting professions are. But hey the bots have 2 new songs and 4 new dances to play and dance for thier customers!

If you want excitement, I will concede I am looking forward to both the new songs and dances, since my entertainer character is pursuing both Musician as well as some Dancer, but I REFUSE to be excited about the developers fixing bugs, especially bugs that have been around for so long. To me, that just deserves a thank you, what took you so long. But thats just my opinion.

The changes look GREAT

but as always I have concerns. Will have to watch the TC forum for when these go up and test.

There better be no cost for the songs! I'm still waiting for other professions to have to pay xp for content.

The removal of the ID timer "in preparation for the combat upgrade" worries me. What does a timer on cosmetic changes have to do with combat????
