Thanks for adding to the degradation of our forums, and contributing to the complete automation and systematic obsolescence of our existence within game.

Bad form.

This will be completely useless in short order, anyhow.

This post, as well your other posts regarding this, will not be forgotten.

name macro buffbot

/say hello welcome to ***** buff house;
/pause 3;
/say you have 15 seconds to invite me to your group
/join;
/pause 2;
/join; /pause 2
;/ join;/ pause 2;
/join;/ pause 5;
/join;/pasue 3;
/say ok start watching now;
/startdance exotic 4;
/macro flourish; ( which ill post at the end)
/pause 60;/
say 2 minutes remaining on buffs;/
pause 60;/say 1 minute remaining on buffs;
/pause 60;/ say stop watching in 30 seconds;
/pause 30;/stopdance;/stopdance;
/say ok starting muscian buff now start listening;
/pasue 3;/startmusic virtuoso;
/pause 60;/say 2 minutes remaining on buffs
;/pause 60;/say one minute remaining on buffs;
/pause 60;/say you have 30 seconds to stop listening;
/pause 30;/stopmusic;/stopmusic
;/pause 5;/say thanks for coming hope you enjoyed the show;/pause 2 ;/disband;/pause 10;/macro buffbot

ok name another macro flourish and text should read
/flo 1; /pause 8
/flo 2;/pause 8
/flo 3;/pause 8
/flo 4;/pause 8
/flo 5;/pause 8
/flo 6;/pause 8
/flo 7;/pause 8
/flo 8;/pause 8
/flo 9;/pause 8;
/macro flourish

not very effective macro.... it only perform a flourish every 8 sec on the first run... not enough to buff for a full 2 hour in 3 minutes and 20 sec. It has an 8 sec pause when XP tick are 10 sec apart (just turn on time stamping and you will se). And the flourish macro loops, and is started in every buff cycle...so at the 10 buff cycle there will be running 10 flourish macros at once...

So two options... the writer is an incompetent macro writer that do not know how macros and buffing works, or the macro is mend to disable any buffbot that uses it.

Imagine, if you will... You're starting out as a novice swordsman. You find a great area you can work. Lots of opportunity for experience. You begin working your tail off. Suddenly, you notice creatures are dying just as you approach them. You turn around to find an AFK Master Swordsman, autofollowing you, and using a recursive target/kill/harvest macro to kill everything you were about to gain experience on.

Imagine you're off looking for loot kit items. And the same thing happens.

Imagine you're off looking to tame a new pet. And somebody is again with you, AFK, preventing you from accomplishing your job.

These are what the majority of buffbots do to Entertainers, and they simply do not care.

Now, this may not be what you intend to do. You may simply want to help yourself and your friends when buffs can be hard to find. Unfortunately, word spreads. Soon you have the only source of real credits and experience drawn away from those who need it, and given to a character that is there for 'convenience'.

As stated before, if you need buffs, try talking to your local Entertainers. Be courteous. Make friends. Use your server's Entertainment chat channel. I'm not saying you'll ALWAYS have buffs available, there's just too little incentive for anyone not dedicated to being an Entertainer to try one (and yes, buffbots add to this cycle).However, the social tactic helps you out,and helps the community.

I'm a new musician, so I don't have a lot of the pent-up anger that some will have when flaming you, but I'll give it my best shot:

I tried nearly every profession in the game. Not for the sake of hologrinding, but simply to experience everything the game had to offer. I avoided entertainer, because honestly, I thought it would be lame. After seeing those Windspire videos, and laughing my @ss off...I figured I'd give it a try. It looked like fun.

Dancer/Musician/Entertainer is a PROFESSION in this game. We provide a service, and that service relies on other players tipping us. I shouldn't have to have an alt or pick up a combat profession to support myself financially. The AFKers unbalance the economy. I was always polite, friendly and enteracted with players coming into the cantina. Yet a lot of them would just asssume watch/listen to the AFK female Twi'lek next to me. Nevermind that this AFKer is either A) doing this only for a badge or B) making a buffbot for their main character. This person will eventually be tucked away in a private house or player city cantina spamming a message about giving uber leet buffz, please gimme 10K to begin.

I say let's level the playing field. Let's make it so that I can make macros to grab missions and run around killing Mokks all day. Better yet, I want one that will auto /follow you and steal your cash and loot. Sounds like fun doesn't it?

You need to learn a lot about macros witch is properly good for all concerned.
By all means use you alt to buff your main, but do not leave it locked in to buff everybody else. I to will not try to explain why we dislike buffbots.

Musicians and dancers are elite support classes. Our game function is to help other get back out in the field, a service we are supposed to get tipped for. So lets say a buffbot is packed in a cantina. Not only in it taking away our tips, another entertainer would also do that (at least some of them), but many combatants think "that is the a afk'er, I do not need to tip it" so they come to expect free service. Then when they come to us the reasoning is "I get buff's and healing free at the buffbot, so why should I pay the live entertainer".
So not only does the buffbot steal our income, they steal the customer we like interacting with, they steal out fun of helping others, and they devaluate our service.
I can make more credit running recon missions on a speeder bike(could properly make more on delivery missions as well) then I can simply healing and buffing (if I can get some customers that is) in a cantina. It not something I find fun, but it is what I do to get the credit I need for my few expenses, like a house and a cantina and new clothing every so often.

You're under the impression that we all AFK levelled, I believe. That's not the situation. The majority of us who care enough to post in this forum are all real entertainers, and made our way to master by actually entertaining, not setting up a macro and leaving. You should try it. Entertainer is a social profession, and if you don't have time to be social, or you don't want to be, please don't "entertain".

Please, rethink your decision to make a buffbot. It destroys our profession. Would you be happy if there were tons of bots that sliced things for free 23/7? Nope.

Reconsider your decision. You'll find entertainer is a VERY fun profession! And if you "don't have time to play a game" like many others say, you really shouldn't be a musician, or be playing this game at all!

Ok, I've been in this game for about a year. The buffbot entertainers have provided more useful service to me than non-afk entertainers. Why? Mind buffs are USEFUL! In a year only 2, 2 !, non-buff bot musicians/dancers have ever buffed my mind. You guys are seriously underestimating how useful the mind buffs are. Most players I know are dreading the macro nerf because now we KNOW that a useful and valuable service will not be available to us. You can chat all you want and get the warm fuzzy, but you are not currently providing the service that us combat types want. I will be happy if the entertainment community as a whole changes their opinion on buffing players, but until I see it I am left with the past as a guide. The past says the buffbots only appeared because the hard-core entertainer refused to buff. You want recognition? You want money? You want xp? Please, please, please BUFF!

If the situation gets bad, don't be suprised when your customers (you know, combat types like me) will not support you.

You're acting like I don't buff. My friend, that's all I do anymore. I sit in Dantooine, giving FREE live Musician buffs. The problem is, people like you still refuse to come to us.

Once buffbots are gone, mind buffs won't be gone. The reason we don't mind buff a lot is because we don't have many chances to do it. Many of us charge money for buffs, so cheapskates will just go to a free buffbot. Many of the combat types think it's a hassle to have to deal with us, so they go to the bots.

Basically, to solve the problem, both parties need to gain a mutual respect and understanding. Once buffbots are gone, you'll see an increase of ATK mind buffers. If you can learn to deal with paying a cheap fee, or having to talk to your buffer, there should be no problems.

I'll go to someone that is buffing live over a bot, but they're not there. That is what I'm saying. I know my whole guild uses this service, but finding non-bots is almost impossible. Until the bots came along, getting a mind buff was rare.

My alt is taking up Musican after a factory tragedy, so I was in these threads to check out Musician. I couldn't believe the amount of whining on the boards. I'm sorry if people are offended by that, but it simply is whining. My only concusion is that some entertainers don't understand the very high value of mind buffs for combat players. Because if they did, they would offer this service far more often. And I do mean service! Get paid! I challenge the entertainer to get out there and buff. You'd be surprised at how much business you'll do overa buff bot.

I am out their, buffing live, and advertising it! But the fact of the matter is most combat types are impatient! You also need to realize that combat isn't everything, and that you don't NEED buffs. You simply want them. I gladly buff anyone who asks, but it's hard to find a customer when the main spots you can buff at are crowded by idiot buffbots. You'll see, once the buffbots are gone, we'll be back.

If mind buffs are so darn imported then WHY are combat players not making it clear? Why do you tip so little for them?
Of cause I have no idea what you do that is the point. I buff whenever I get the chance. Spending 3 hours at the dantooine mining outpost with know one to talk to in not fun (yes I am on the entertainer channel and can still chat with my guild members and fellow citizens of my town). Even less so when I know I can run explore mission for the sam 3 hours and make 5 time as many credit, and can still chat on the same channels.

No, I challenge ALL combats to motivate entertainer to mind buff them. If you cannot find someone to mind buff you, then it is your own fault for not providing enough motivation. Just like if you can find a weaponsmith to put your krayt tissue in to weapons or make you a scythe. Moreover, if the lack of buffers is server wide then some element on your server is driving them away.

Or maybe that attitudes like yours prevail for too manyentertainers and drive the business away. I'm going to spam the Cantina for a buffer only so much before I go on with what I'm doing. You're running the business, you advertise. I do the same for my ventures.

You know why we whine? BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN GET ANY FREAKIN ATTENTION! The Devs ignore us, we tried not to whine, but that didnt work. After so much time, we got mad. Very mad. So now we whine, and you whine back. YOU have to put something in too if you want buffs. We arent supposed to come to you, fly there with magical powers and serve you, all cheerful. You should actually search for buffs.....
