As it has been mentioned many times here and in Thunderheart's original post, you will still be able to write fairly extensive macros. The only real change is you'll have to restart it every now and then.

NJ, I don't suppose you could let us know if the Devs still consider this an issue or not? I know you're unable to give us any details, but it would be nice to hear if they still consider unattended gameplay a problem or if they're just going to let it go.

Everyone can disagree all they want, however after over a year of playing, I honestly still prefer an afk buff bot, than a live buffing dancer or musician....they are always occupied with thier own little group...or rude to you about asking for buffs....or demanding tips whether you intended to or not.

With a buff bot, I walk in, join the group...listen, tip walk out......

But hey....thats just me from the users standpoint as I am not a entertainer.

Well wether you aretrolling or not let me just thank you for being so concerned about your own comfort over a 3 minute interaction versus the play style of an entire group.

Unfortunately, there are too many AFK entertainers out there. Yes, even if they don't have the AFK flag up, they can still be afk (most of them turn off the auto AFK timer). These are also typically the ones tip begging.

If you were on Tempest, you could come to me. You don't need to leave your sologroup, I buff with the Patented Fragpuppie Uber Quick Buff (tm) which takes 3 mins 20 seconds, with skill tapes giving a total buff of +111%. You show up, you listen, tip, walk away.

Be warned, though. I will attempt to engage you in conversation, or put on a show for you. However, if I get the vibe you would rather be left alone (you can always politelylet the performer know this), then I'll just let you know when the buff is ready, and continue to entertain other folks.

I also don't ask for tips.Begging for tips is like a mandatory donation. Oxymoron. Should you appreciate my service, you are most welcome to.

The post in the original message deleted... is this still slated to happen?

I asked a CSR in-game about it and they told me that it was a tricky situation and they had no plans at this time to remove them from the game. *rolls eyes* I think the CSRs are the last to know everything.

Most CSR's, as has been proven time and time again, have no clue what they're talking about. As of late last week, Tiggs, a dev, posted in the dancer forum that they were still very concerned and plan to remove the recursive macros after JtL is shipped.

I like to think she isn't lying. And, I like to think she, as a dev, knows more about the game than the CSR's, who are notorious for being wrong on nearly every issue they are asked about.

SOOOOO happy to hear that, thanks for the reply! And I agree, as far as I can tell anyone knows more than a CSR... but especially a dev.

Though I generally agree that CSRs are the least helpful when it comes to anything other than cut and pasted generic replies, I have to thank the CSR that helped us out last night.

Several of us had a performance going in Theed. Had a Trandoshan come in with an absolutely obscene bio, and parked his pet in the middle of the dancefloor. We asked him nicely to have it wait for him outside, no need to store it. He took it outside, stored it, brought out a much larger pet, and proceded to park it on the dancefloor, blocking all the Entertainers. After many insults, we had enough of this griefer, and the wonderful CSR took care of things.

I doubt you'll be reading this, but if you do, you know who you are. Thank you!

NJ, any lightyou can shed on this subject? Do they still consider unattended gameplay a problem? Is this still the course of action they're looking at? Or are they leaning towards another idea?

I know the Devs are busy with JTL, but I don't think an update on such a controversial topic would really impact their rush to keep people from playing Halo2.

I don't really care if recursive macros are being "removed" or not. There is no way they can stop everyone from doing it. Whether it is a program or super game pad/joystick that spams turbo clicks or a younger sibling clicking for $0.25 an hour, there is no way to remove this entirely from the game without removing macros entirely. If they do make macros not looping, make programs/gamepads not work and somehow make siblings realize they are getting ripped off, then more ways will be found i.e. making the macro so long it takes hours to finish it (just copy and paste).

In conclusion, there is no way to stop people from doing something they want in this sort of situation. I personally think the only way to stop afk macroing is to get people to NOT WANT to afk.
