Thread: From your Correspondent: Your top issues?
Of all the suggestions I've seen listed, these three are the top of my list:
Make the Omni Box and Naralgon work while not targetted. I always switch to a horn to do buffs or if I need to interact with others.
Come up with a way to advertise. I'd imagine that the Artisans would like this idea too.
Experimentation on instruments should mean something. I've given my in game fiance a Fizz I made so that she wasn't using a "second rate instrument". I'd like that to be more than just good RP.
THROW US A BONE IF WE MUST BECOME MUSICIANS PLEASE!!!!
If we must follow this path then maybe you can revamp musicians so they can tame beasts with an instrument!!!! and make them a special kind of CH. Being able to tame creatures untamable by regular CHS.
You wanted an IDEA? How do you like this one?

I just found out that I must Master Musician if I wish to become enlightened in the way of the force. However this is not very appealing as I will have to release other skills which I enjoyed. And given the nature and course I have chosen for my character I will end up having to release skills related to CH. I find that the musician profession is BORING. Having to be in a cantina "having" to heal people is boring. Don't get me wrong, I like to socialize , but there is no action in a cantina.

Cantinas didn't used to be dead. They used to be quite lively places, with full groups of 20 people all active.
I dont mean to flame at all and I'm sorry if I seem to be doing so, Im just trying to be objective on a profession that needs buffing to make it appealing and fun.
Among the many characters I played in EQ was a bard, I know its like comparing apples to oranges as SWG is a complete different system, but hey! YOu could do ANYTHING with a bard and if you knew how to play it, you could actually be a true entertainer.
Please throw the musicians a bone.
I feel the same way about getting a fighting holo or a crafting holo. These would not be my first choices, or even my 10th choices because I feel they are boring. Music is great for me, boring for you. Unfortunately, that is the way it is if you want to be a jedi. You have to master a profession that doesn't appeal to you. I guess you have to decide if the motivator is enough for you.
I hope they don't add 'action' to the musician profession. Its great the way it is with a few bug fixes.
I don't want to be a medieval bard out taming creatures with my horn.
I've been a master ent/master musician for nearly 6 months now. During that time, I read these forums every so often.
In that time, I have seen few 'top issues' ever be officially addressed or resolved. I think the time has come, if SOE wants to handlethis professionally,to either say 'YES, we can plan for that, or NO, that is not in the realm of possiblity' to these frequent requests.
Here's my pessimistic preview:New songs? Forget it. The complexity of the digital sample system is obvious! It is so complex, they used the same basic midiinstrumenton multiple instruments.
Reasons to be a musician? Ha! Let's remember where we are - the Star Wars Galaxy, not The Lawrence Welk Show. I'll bet better than 80% of subscribers play this game to fight the enemy. This is what sells the game - a bounty hunter looking off intothe distance (SWG Web page), not a musician standing on his nala. What sells this game is what gets the grease - and it ain't musician.
Recorded songs, etc. Nope! Way too much development time to make that, not to mention copyright issues as musicians go out and try to digitize Metallica.
I think the main and ONLY focus should be to fix bugs. Everything else is just noise to distract the devs - that's why you're the liason, NJ. I would encourage you to insist they simply fix what is broke, not invent something new.
My top 5 issues that i think are the most stresfull:
1.Can't tellwho ur buffing after u type it. when i type '/setperform all' it still says %TT
2. Can't tell when you are buffing and not knowing how much you are buffing the target. is it possible to play for more than 10 min(20 in group)giving the person buff longer than 2 hrs?
3.Musician self-buffs.When i am out hunting with my guild i am a bit left out since i can buff them but not my self. Therefor, mycombat skills in battle arent as efficent as theirs.
4. More complex songs. It gets a bit boring doing the same songs and frourishes over and over again. the only instrument that makes every song soundgreat every timeis the Nalargon and the Mandoviol. If the Devs don't wanna make complex songs their selves, give us the ability to compose our own music and implement it in the game.My suggestion is to make a patch that can be downloaded by musicians that they could record their costom/mixed songsand then convert it in to code and uploaded into the game. Or, We send You the song and just add it in as a new patch.
5.(more of a suggestion) MakeMusicians able to play music while walking(like a marching band).A new instrument that woud be fun to play would be a conga drum. its not as big and bulky as the Nalargon or the Ommni Box and if you made a flourish that would look like dancing, it would ROCK!
Just my thoughts on the issues.
1 and 2 are alittle more important then 3.

Accualy, believe it or not, that sounds like an awsome idea! They say that Music sooths the soul and tame the beast within(maybe i made that last part up). Why not make it true here?the tameing thing sounds nice but i don't think musicians should be able to train or use aggresive creatures like a Rancor. If a Musician could like tame a creature as in making it less aggresive andtough, then that would be awsome too. While the musician(a Master probebly) plays a song like ballad or waltz, it will calm the creature making it weaker. Then you(or your guild mates) go in and punch it to death! Also, it be cool if you could get combat xp or maybe CH xp by doing that.
But thats just what i think. It would get more people to become entertainers and maybe keep it. the Entertainment population is a bit low and will definatly rise now with the whole holocron thing and should drop again after those people have mastered it. I have seen alot of people on the boards trash talk about some of us entertainers saying stuff like we are nothing but, and i quote, "glorified chatters".Obviously, that person doesn't know the kind of hardships Musicians, Dancers go through to get to master. I'm geussing the devs tried to make ALL the profesions almost equaly dificult. Hopefully they people that are now grinding Musician and Dancer will understand more about us now.
Here's my issue with the musician profession:
We cannot play every instrument or every song!
I think that it would be rather easy to change, and I believe that it just makes sense to not only have the "Mandovial" instrument and "Ceremonial" song under Master Entertainer... but to have them added to the Musician's profession at an earlier point, or heck, even the master point... because I'm sick of being nearly a master musician and though I should know every song in the game (except ofcourse the Master song)... and I can't play Ceremonial, and I can't play with a mandovial...
Come on... it's already in the game... duping them into another learning category can't be THAT hard.

Didn't read every thred for duplicate material, so much of this most likely won't be new.
1: Streamline the buff process. Could this possibly by more of a pain? Recode the whole thing, with an aim towards simplifying the process and removing many of the factors that cause it to fail. Include start notification to player, and a message for player and musician(dancer) when ready. Make a clearly defined min/max apply time, and notify both participants as above.
2: Content baby content. More stuff! Songs, seen awesome ideas regarding npc pet backup musicians( would work for dancers too).
3: Instruments: Not saying take mando away from master ent, but the best instrument in game should belong to musicians. So new instruments needed, and one needs to kick some major arse to compliment mando. Also will include the omni/ mando target bug. Kills me to see a normally atk musician walk her dog or go bio and have there instrument moved out from under them.
4: Better missions. They done need to be uber payouts, id say a bump from 100-15oish to say 500-750 would be good enough. End result will not be major economic disruption, it will be more well dressed musicians( and dancers).
5: I'm much too dumb to have a 5th idea, my brain hurts whaah.
