I share most of the comments made here but would like to add

I regularly play a large group in Coronet, sometimes a lot of AFK's are there grinding away - which I dont mind too much - its a good training ground.

However the lack of things to do after master is woeful.

So to make life easier lets have a few new songs and instruments as everyone has asked for BUT how about this

As a master I have each instrument and all songs (except Mando and Ceramonial - though I'm working on it) the biggest pain in the ass is playing a session witha lot of mixed skill people and having to play bloody starwars 1 and 2 or worse Rock, so they can skill up and stil play in the group.

My solution, if they are grouped with me as a group leader I should be able to grant them the temporary right to play a song I have but they dont, they would have to listen to it first, maybe pay a very small tip to me, anmd then they could play it while in the group, I could loan them an instrument to play in the same way - would be cool if they made a few mistakes while learning it - they would get a little more xp while playing and everyone would be happy. Soon as I leave or they the song and instrument are taken away and returned to me automatically

Would also like a masters Galaxy Cantina check - only master could check on who is grouped in each cantina via something liek the /find - would help us to find sessions to jam in and help train up the noobs a bit.

Would suggest that music skills decay over time and are lost if you dont put the hours in, just like in ral life you get rusty if you dont play frequently

Don't skills in UO decay over time if not used? Or did that change? Did players like it?

Heh, yet another Starwalker. Three of us on Chilastra bumped into each other in Coronet cantina: Farin Starwalker, Aerena (er, I'm sorry, I don't remember how to spell her name) Starwalker, and Ronny Starwalker, brother of my "main" Ricky Starwalker. The Starwalker clan is growing!

I really like the idea of a master being able to grant others the ability to play higher level songs. Often I want to play a higher level song with a few others, but I also don't want to be snobbish and tell other musicians they can't join.

I like to play gigs (entertain at player events). I would love for some form of advertising or galaxy wide search so people can know I'm interested in performing at player events. As of now, I normally do a lot of leg workgoing from cantina to cantina letting people know I'd like to play at their next function. This method of advertising isn't cheap, and I've thought of hiring an agent...any suggestions on Musician advertising?

My top issue is, I want to know if any of the retarded Devs even play an Entertainer, Musician or Dancer. I don't think they do or they wouldn't be asking such a lame question.

Greetings again folks.....

Been awhile since I have posted, since I was actually away for a few months, but I am back..hehe.

I see that some of the same issues are the same now as they were when I took my vacation, so many of the items that were discussed are still here.

I took my vacation, not because I was burned out, but rather all my friends left to play other games, etc. I had 2 accounts and I had combat characters to explore that side of the game with, besides myself having once been a pistoleer until I "made my fortune" so to speak....lol. It wasn't much, around 750K then i dumped all my combat skills to become a total entertain becasue that what I like to do.....

I have been trying like heck to catch up on all the issues since Saturday, and it seems to me that the biggest complaint about our class is lack of content/boredom/easy burnout.

I myself am a part time RPer, and i love to chat and just play music...but I want new songs and more instruments...better animations for flourishes.

My Main Contribution for this topic however, since I am at work and I am trying to hurry, so I will revist this topic later, is...............

And this is an either or thing........

Let entertainers keep camps from despawning as long as they are in it. That would make entertainers very worthwhile, especially on big game hunts where they can use the base as a camp.

Or....let Master Scout or Rangers craft a specific tent that entertainers can use, much like the merchant tents now, so that you can have full benefit of our unique services in the field.

I think one of these with the addition of some additional content for us, ie, songs and instruments, would revitalize what appears to some as a dying class.

Course as long as I have breath and am in the game, I will always be a Musician

AFK'ers near impossible to get tips now, I really hate the toolbarSlot command which leads to infinite loops.

#1 Issue, the quality and duration of buffs.

I also like the idea of less able musicians being able to join in songs started by senior musicians.

It would be really, really neat if we had the ability to compose our own songs.

Entertainers need some way to make money that is on the par with other professions.

"Course that'd make hearing Ceremonial really rare, since pretty much the only reason anyone ever bothers to Master Entertainer is for the mandoviol. But then it'd be even more special than it is now."

Personally, my main reason for mastering entertainer WAS ceremonial. I like that song more than all of the musician tree songs put together. And, because I put all that image design work into learning the song, i would be disappointed if it was handed over to master musicians. Of course, I am a master musician, so it wouldn't upset me that much.

My main issue with music right now is not being able to target people while playing the nalargon or omni-box. Lately I've been experiencing a bug in game where, if I try to type an emote such as /smile soandso I will get the message "nothing or no-one by that name could be found"... this makes performing such things as ventriloquism impossible. Also, it prevents buffing.

We can buff only the two substats of a single ham bar. Not cool. Give our buffs to dances and give us theirs. Then we are interchangable, the only difference being that you hear one and see the other.

Ralinor, for my playstyle,I'd take our buff over the Dancer buff any day. Our buff is awesome! With Willpower buffed, that blue bar barely ever moves, no matter how much I heal or fight.

Now, I suppose you're suggesting that Dancers and Musicians each get to buff all three "blue" stats, and I suppose I'm not dead-set against that. But it would make our profession less unique, less sought-after. And we'd end up competing with Dancers for customers. I'm not sure I like that prospect. The way things are, Dancers and Musicians bothbring something unique to the table.

My number one concern is the musician buff. I would like to thank NewJedi forhis constant updates tothe Musician Buff FAQ, I havefound this information very usefull. As a Master Musician I spendmost of my playing buffing others. Here is a short list of the things I would like to see.

1. I would like to be able to buff myself. Nuff said.

2. I would like to see the time spent listening to get a buff reduced. As a Master Musician playing Virtuoso on a Nalargon with flourishes every 20 seconds I can double my target's focus and willpower for 20 minutes for each minute they listen. If I am "passive" group buffing it's closer to each minute spent listening grants 8minutes of buffing. So to get the maximum two hour duration for the buff a single player must listen for at least 6 minutes and groups must listen for at least 15 minutes (My group ratio of 1 to 8 is a rough estimate). I would like those times to be cut in half.

3. I would like the /setp command return the target's name rather than get a system message "You direct your attention to %TT" This is very annoying when I am playing a Nalargon (which has to be the active target) and I have to type /setp <some crazy name> I have to ask the person if they got the system message stating I am buffing them. So please get the /setp system message to return the player's name and not %TT (also, it just feels sloppy).

4. I would like to be able to "craft" my buff into a holo-recording (less effective and shorter duration)

Those are the changes I'd like to see concerning the Musician buff (which is much better than the Dancer buff). Since I'm here, I'll round out my top 5 issues

Number two: I would love for resource quality and experimentation to play a role in instrument crafting. I foresee a galaxy where musicians everywhere seek out the masterwork instruments of Jeriba Shigan.

Number three: Missions/Mission Pay-outs. I would like to see a "pay-for-play" system with an interactive object in the venue (cantina/hotel/theater) that pays entertainers to perform. I invision accessing this object (NPC or terminal) then performing for a set amount of time, like 15 minutes, and getting paid based on your skill level. To discourage AFK'ers you would have to interact with the NPC/Terminal to refresh your "pay-for-play" status. Also the existing missions need to have increased payouts and closer waypoints.

Number four: More songs and instruments, especially in the Master box. (Wouldn't mind seeing Mandovial and Ceremonial in that box and juggling added to Master Entertainer)

Number five: Fix the registration icon on the world map. I've gone into empty cantinasthat had the sun symbol on the world map.

I want a self-buff too. My impression is that the prinicipal obstacle to a self-buff has been technical. The buff is triggered only by /listen and /stoplisten -- but we can't /listen or /stoplisten to ourselves. I've mentioned this to the devs repeatedly, as has the Dancer Correspondent. I'll let you know if we hear anything more.
