DarthBushJr, the devs will say camps do have a purpose: healing mind wounds. If we can heal BF there, they say, the cantina will be rendered useless.

For those posting about better buff UI: that's one of our weekly questions. I'm not expecting a very encouraging response.

CM_Ronin: nice idea. If DE's can customize droids, why can't we customize instruments?

I would like to see some new instruments and some new songs, plus why cant the muscians and the dancers do holoemotes something fun for us to do. Or get some different light shows, it seems to me that the id and some of the other proffesions are getting new things and as usual the muscian and dancers are left out. Also w hy not have somthing like a bulletin board where muscian and dancers could go to play as quest.

I wish you would also give us a quest or something that we can do and get a new song or something fun to do. And i would like to see cities like Tyrenia and some of the smaller cities get more people back in the cantina to play. On my sever everyone is a t the front door of the cantina at coronet it is so packed it wonder anyone can move. You need to bring people back to play at Tyrenia or at Mos Eisley or some smaller cities.

Could you also have a way where we can tell if we are buffing the person and the person is listening it frustrating when you ask the person to listen and then they dont. I just wish we could have bar for us to see if the person i slistening or not.

It's funny you mention holoemotes, because they're on Test Center (er, and maybe now Live?). You can buy 20 "charges" from a selection of about a dozen holoemotes from your local Image Designer. One of them features musical notes, but there are a whole bunch of others.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but Im gonna suggest it anyways. Im climbing up the Musician tree and Im a roleplayer, and I already custom name all of my instruments. I'd like it if you could also customize the look of your instrument. I go into a Musicians shop and I see many different kinds of trumpets, guitars, drumsets, pianos, etc. I would like to be able to go into a "Musicians Shop" in SWG and get a similar feeling. Be able to see all the purty instruments named different things and hanging in display and whatnot, and maybe this idea can co-incide with my Image Design idea as well (see link in my sig) Lets Face it the best thing about a MMO is the ability to be a unique and memorable part of a vast LARGE community and it would be awesome if you and your Neon-Orange Mandolin were recognized around your galaxy. This would open so much opportunities for roleplay (Matching color schemes for bands? ) and a Musician and his instrument should be one and they should match accordingly. I want to standout from other musicians *sniffle*

you ever notice how:

the slitherhorn, fanfar and traz sound the same?

the kloo horn, fizzz, and chindiaklu horn sound the same?

the bandfill and the omni box sound the same?

thats probably as much customization as we'll get

that being said.

i personally dont think the cantina atmosphere is quite like the one in the movies, they are completely harmless, whereas, in the movies, you had to watch yourself. what i propose, is that there would be thugs, criminals etc, only you arent always able to attack them (to keep too many firefights from happening, of course) the way i propose this to work, would be something along the following

the thug walks up to the entertainer, and starts conversing with the entertainer, there should be a few responses, one that might make the thug less upset, one that would make him more upset, and one where you just dont respond, after a certain amount of time, he should say something else, either less angry or moreso, and if you do not respond or chose the more offensive option, then he should attack you

I know a lot of musicians and dancers who have zero combat skills and more than likely would not like that idea at all. Also, I have noticed that those instruments sound alike but I want my fizz to look different than your fizz. I want all of my band members to have a matching theme with our instruments, mayhaps a color scheme.

K..I am going to go all creative here.

Back in the old days musicians were used on the field of battle to dis-encourage the enemy..Scottish bagpipes ya know. Make the different effects used by the musician have some tempory "debuffing" effect on the targeted critter or PC..Blind might be a bit harsh but for a class with no combat mods it could prove interesting and definately would give musicians a reason to be on the battle field..you know dancers are to be used to spy..musicians for debuffing? Just a thought..The ability to buff blue secondaries is enough for me to keep the class.....

My only other suggestion is registered band point system..you form a band..you perform a contract retrieved at a terminal at a certian cantina..the higher ranking you have the more cantinas you can play at and get band xp..ie more money..just a thought

Glenda love your band idea, but the combat one sounds great too Im jsut not sure its that feasable. Cobat in SWG moves around real fast you running after a gnort, you running away froma giant dune kimogilla. It doesnt jsut stay still, and we all know when you move as a dancer or musician you stop playing/dancing. It would also be hard to hear the music during battle as well. The old idea I think you are referring to, yes the bagpipes. They used them before the battle began to increase troop moral (mind buff?) and I think trumpets, and drums, and even bagpipes...actually even flutes, were used later to give out signals....especially trumpets. Drums, marching, all coexistant.

Dont shoot down the idea totally lets just think of how we can flesh it out and make it fit in the SWG universe.

I placed this in the dancer forum, but I think it should really apply to you guys too, so what do you think?

Dancers and combat defense: or : Have ballet shoes will travel.

By the time we, or our sister profession musicians, reach master level, we get about 7 ranged defense and 7 melee defense for our trouble. I know that several people here are artistic purists and want to think of our profession as not being dangerous. However, I'll have to disagree. If you look at the movies, look again at Mos Eisley Cantina (Episode IV) or Jabba's Palace (Episode VI), these are not safe working environments. My first silly experience as an entertainer was taking a begineer entertainer mission within my first hour of playing. By the terminals direction and my new mission arrow, I was directed to run to my gig, So, I start following the arrow out of Mos Elsewhere and 35 minutes later I'm eaten alive by Bocats. This started my siege mentality with being an entertainer and a long proud history of dying a lot. Why not give our besieged people a little help?

Here's my proposal, what about making our 106 skill point investment, about half as effect, for defense only, as a combat profession. What real harm is there in giving us 20 melee defense and 20 ranged defense? What harm is there in giving us an edge with a few skills that might enhance other skills better? For example a master dancer might get 20 dodge, we are light on our feet after all. A master musician should get say 20 block, after all he's in a band and he's played in a "Roadhouse" before. As masters of jumping and spinning in place, why can't a master dancer have 20 points of defense vs. dizzy and 20 points of defense versus knockdown? With the mythical party life of musicians in our society, it seems appropriate to give them 20 points of defense versus poison and 20 points of defense versus disease. None of these things will make us combat ready, or even allow us to attack another player effectively, but it would be nice to add to other facets of what we do.

As for myself, I made my character with the Old West Saloon girl concept (dancer / pistoleer) in November and I've never even considered changing, though it would be nice to get something for being light on my feet.We are entertainers, but we are entertainers surviving in a tragically dangerous universe. We are more "Roadhouse" than "The Nutcracker". We are more "Once Upon A Time In Mexico" than "Fame". Why don't we request minor defense changes that help with that?

This idea would also aply to you, which includes a fatigue idea that is not just combat related... More information is on the dancer forum under the Bard idea Pathu created...

Ok, here's an idea so that players do not feel that dancers or musicians shoved something down their thoughts. I like the fatigue idea, but I think it would work better if it was self inflicted. What about giving players the option to use an ability called extreme-focus that let them get up to a +10 modifier on any skill action and in turn caused 10 fatigue for being used.
Crafters could extreme-focus to craft better, medics to heal or buff better, any character to run slightly better, melee artists to hit better or slightly faster, ranged artists to hit better or slightly faster, characters. In turn, entertainers / musicians and dancers could heal this new damage type, but since it's a choice for characters to use, it doesn't feel like they were railroaded into it. Also, this is for each time the skill is used, so it would be for everyattack or crafting action, so you can see it could add up quickly, in a single fight, making a single suit of armor, or anything else.

Buffs need changes, but I do not want to detract from the uniqueness of our sister profession of musicians, so here is an idea. We recently either got bugged or nerfed from being able to mind buff and musician buff at the same time. Why not do band buffs? The current buffing system is limited to around a 100% increase in mind or mind secondaries. Many people have to place there states in other areas do to their chosen professions, what about have a bonus to buffs in addition to as long as a band actually buffs together? For example, a twenty person band in the theed cantina plays live with 10 master dancers and ten master musicians. Each musician and each dancer each focus on one target. The target receives a dance buff and a musician buff simultaneously while they are targeted for setperform. In addition to the base buff, they get a direct mathematical bonus equal to the dancer or musicians buff rating. In this example let's say you're targeting brawlers each with 400 in all three mind stats. The master level buff will still only raise them to a 800 in each mind stat; however, by buffing by band flourishes in this suggestion, you'd get an extra +100 for each type for each of the other master performers in the two types (the rating is the exact value of the dancer or musicians enhance value so adjust accordingly). In this example, they would add an extra +900 to each stat (musicians to musicians and dancers to dancers only), which becomes a 1700 mind, 1700 focus, and 1700 will, for the two hours they remained buffed, which is a huge difference from 800, especially after composite armor encumbrance in the field. We'd be guaranteed to see these
customers again in two hours. Just to keep tipping absolutely fair for this kind of buff, we could even have the developers key it so that bands doing this share tips equally among all members, who are adding to the buff cycle, just like combat teams do when they loot or finish missions. This set up also provides an incentive for active players to actually band together andstay master dancers and master musicians

Plus this idea:

Also, as an aid to not only dancers, but our bandmates the musicians as well, do Sony have a background media player we could use for music and songs? If it's Sony's system, they could make sure the content met their standards, but at the same time, we could literally pic from thousands of songs to do as bands, without overfilling the code for the game. Bands could be real bands with real themes and styles. We'd link up even better with muscians and people would get a whole new experince when they do /watch and /listen...

I can dream, but I would hope that every player owned cantina got a terminal where admins could announce their need for entertainers, and put a certain amount of money that could be paid to the entertainer(s) taking the mission.

Entertainers could look up on a list of cantinas given to them by the theater manager, and select the one they would like to take.

I am sure that several cantina owners would like to spend a lot of cash to draw entertainers to their cantina using a system like this. I know I would.

I think this is an awesome idea - player city cantina owners could put up ads to solicit some entertainers to come to their cantina at a set time/date to play. Let's say a big party is gonna happen, and they need more entertainment. Now, the payout could be a challenge, you don't want people to not get paid. Thecantina owner can put up the gig advertisement, and when the gig is over(maybe the gig would have a set timeframe - from 7pm EST to 10pm EST for example) it would payout automatically at the "end time."

This way, people could get out of the Theed/Coronet cantina nightmare, and visit other player cities - and get xp at the same time!

This has probably been discussed here on the forums but I am going to propose it now.. I would like to see some sort of voice chat feature in the game. Or maybe a group voice chat so that you could actually talk to your group-mates. Typing is fine but I am a horrible slow typist and make way to many spelling errors. I have been told to learn to spell by other group members (some were kidding and some not kidding) and if it wasn't for the web form spell checker I have you would all see my spelling deficiency. I know that spelling is my problem but I think the game would be greatly enhanced by some sort of voice communication. I know that I could just go get some third party program but what are the chances of me going to a cantina and joining a entertaininggroup and all of us having the same program for voice.
