Thread: Vanishing Vendors or Vendor Items

I just checked a thread in Development regarding the hotfixes. Someone requested that until the vendor bug has been resolved that perhaps it would be prudent to somehow provide warning on login for everyone as not everyone reads the boards and could be being hit very hard by this.
JustG responded that this bug doesn't happen to everyone, implying such a message is 'unwarranted'.
Curious - has ANYONE got 30 day sales that have made it past the 14 day elapsed? I've not yet read a single post where someone has stated they are unaffected by this condition.
Coupled with TH's erroneous first post about the problem (that being, that after a sale last the entire 30 days, then being relisted would vanish after 7 - which is completely STUPID because there hasn't even BEEN 37 days since this got implemented) - then posts after 4 pages of detailed explanations of what's happening asking for "detailed explanations of what's been happening" - and now coupled with this new post asking for more information .... what the heck is going on?
I am dismayed at the slow response, the lack of freaking clue, the feel that this isn't important from the official representatives, and lack of basic courtesy in even apologising for what is an obvious and huge snafu, and refusing to try warn people via a game mechanic about this brutal bug because 'it's not happening to everyone' which from what I can tell is a complete pile of bull****.
Would it kill you to admit you're wrong and do people who don't read the boards the courtesy of informing themthat this is happening? EVEN IF we accept what appears to be a farce that this bug is random, is that such a huge problem to warn that this could "potentially" happen? EVEN IF it was random you might save someone's stock from annihilation?
Would it kill you to say YOU ARE SORRY?
ARGH!
I really have no idea where Blair is getting that from. As far as I can tell it affects EVERYONE with a vendor an an item that has been on sale for 14 days.
/emote shakes head in disbelief.
Strictly wild-ass guesswork here, of course, but it'd fit the facts. SWG has been having horrible database problems from day one, of the sort that shouldn't be happening with a properly designed and maintained Oracle database solution.
Greetings,
I have been asked to collect some of this information. I need to get a few highly detailed cases plus their Ticket numbers. Please feel free to message me or respond to this thread. Thank you.

Hi CSRRobynR.
Read any of the threads on these boards that have a title with the word Vendor in it and you will get lots of detailed reports. (some flamage too). For me I listed a bunch of stuff on my pre-patch vendor just after the patch. On the 1st of Dec I was ingame and visited my vendor to take off some copper to deliver to a client and a deed to use since no one had purchased it yet. I put the deed back on the vendor from Inventory a little bit later.
Sometime on the first I happened to read a post in the merchant forum about vanishing stuff.
I had been warned about stuff dissappearing from the stock room (no one told me about the 7day stock room rule
I filed a /bug report. who knows what the number was. I noted it was about 200,000 higher than the previous day (i find and report 1-5 bugs a day)
Hope there is enough detail there for you. Read this thread from the beginning and you will find some MUCH more detailed descriptions.

I laid off my entire staff (3 vendors) and closed the doors on my shop outside of Theed.
No insurance. Looks like an inside job. Can't afford to pay them. Not sure I trust them.

Greetings,
I want to thank everyone that sent me information. Development believes that they now have enough information and hope to have a fix soon.

So... "Robyn"... what about reimbursements...?

I don't know if you can answer us on this or not, and if it turns out that if we are not getting any reinbursement then it is a moot point, but I am wondering
IF we are to get reinburstment, will we still be eligible even if we deleted the vendor after item dissappeared?
The reason is I have an old old vendor that is still bald. I been reluctant to delete and replace it because lot of new vendor initilization issue.
Now that I have emptied out my vendor due to this bug, I was thinking of deleting it and replacing it but am reluctant since I might be told I am no longer eligible for reinburstment if I delete the vendor from which items have been vanished.

And SOE has the ability to see if it affecting everyone - simply run a query against their database to see if any items have between 7 and 16 days remaining.
Greetings Neatos,
Currently CS is waiting to hear from Development. As soon as we have an answer I will let you know.
I have had this happen once before, and now again today. Here goes:
I have 2 vendors in a small house on Shadowfire - Tatooine - Near Bestine (-755, -4220). I believe this may be very close to a server boundary. I have had numerous problems in the past with my personal as well as house inventory disappearing when I am in that area, and reappearing several hours or a day later.
The vendor problem hit me today (Friday 12/5). I had not been to my vendor in about 3 days, so it may have happened earlier. I arrived at my vendor and found that all of my items that had been on there for a while (yes, probably over 14 days) had vanished. That was around 1.5 million credits worth of buildings and furniture (grrrrr). There were 4 items still on one of the vendors that I had put there more recently.
I put several other items up for sale (special orders actually) and the people came to pick them up the same day (today). Some were fine, but one was gone by the time the person came to pick it up. This item had been on the vendor for less than 3 hours.
Your question:
- Both vendors are random NPC's (one rodian and one mon calamari)
- Both vendors have unique names
- Both vendors are located in the same house but in different rooms
- I do believe my house is close to a server boundary, but not 100% sure
- I am not in a player city
- The items have not yet returned, but then the server has not yet reset. When this happened to me several months ago, the items never returned.
Please help. And what do I do about my lost credits?
Thank you - Chaland (Shadowfire)
This is all great news. I am much appreciative of the effort taken both to fix the 2 bugs and the effort being taken to return as many inadvertantly dested vndor items as possible.
However, there is a lesson to be learned from this. Namely there is a dest log in place. When a flood of tickets or forum posts cover a topic involving widespread item loss this should be a FLAG to check that log when a deletion timer is involved in the vendor code. Due to the enormously large growth of this log file over the previous week, I found it ironic that CSRs could have been instructed to regurgitate the non-sensical belief being passed back to us that these items were correctly deleted as being in the vendor too long.
How on earth could so many items throughout all the vendors on each and every server have had so many items neglectfully left in a stockroom for 7 days at the same time?!?!
Thankfully, the dev team will be able to run some type of perl script/s to track and return as many of these items as practicable.
*cry*
So much for relaxing and letting my vendors sell stuff while I concentrate on finals for a week. ![]()
My vendor is in a Player City
It is not on a zone border.
I have 4 vendors: BE clothing (listed), female clothing, male clothing, Wookiee wear (listed).
BE clothing has kept its items (thank god). Female, male, and wookiee all dropped alarmingly over a few days....as in 100 items to 6. While I sold a good deal of the female clothing, I know for a fact I did not sell 40+ items of wookiee wear in 4 days. And yesterday I saw things listed on the male vendor that were gone (but not sold) today.
This is extremely unsettling. I had just moved my store and stocked it to the rafters and this is not what I wanted to have happen ![]()
