Thread: Merchant Correspondant (Week 7)
Concern: Items inside packs disappearing when sold. This makes it impossible for many of us to fill custom orders.
Improvement: Add a "Custom Order" tab to vendors where items can only be purchased by certain people.
I hae 3 primary Concerns and will attempt to be brief, but concise
1)The 7 day limit on items on the vendors.
I run 3 shops with 5 vendors on 3 separate planets. The most aggrevating thing I contend with is, after leaving one planet, headed to another shop I get those dreadful emails "Auction Unsuccessfull" only to realize that those items were on vendors in the shop I JUST LEFT. Yes it is possible to check the progress of the items on sale but it has to be done individually. Thus creating more time spent in front of the vendor.
2) Planetary Map Advertisments.. poofing EVERY DAY.
with the afore mentioned shops... it would be neccessary to hit every shop, every morning just to ensure that passers-by see my vendors. AND while I'm here.... having multiple vendors in one location registered creates a jumbly mess of letters, only way to combat it is to only register one vendor per shop. sure its an easy fix, but....
3) Ad barking... it quits within a very short period of time... and when it DOES work, it barks at folks just running by the building, thus turning the vendors around. One cannot move a vendor once it is initialized, yet they turn on a dime at folks they cant even see.
Im not asking for a perfect Galaxy... but before any semblance of a NERF BAT is brought out to.. how shall I say... tax an already overworked, underappriciated class. PLEASE attempt resolution of exsisting issues.
Concern: 7 days far, far,far too short to sell items at our own shops. Makes life miserable.
Improvement: Far longer vendor hold times, or unlimited time (better) Like someone said, if storing things is abused, then make a limit on the vendor space.

For the person complaining about items inside packs disappearing when sold, SOE nerfed it. There is a sticky thread on one of the forums Warning us to NOT sell items inside of packs. It's not a bug, it was something SOE intentionally prevented. The only "packaged" items that are supposed to be sold on the game are factory crates.
I never once complained that it was a bug. It's a poorly implemented solution that doesn't even fix the problem it was supposed to solve. It was put in place so that people wouldn't be able to store items in packs on their vendors. But what stops people from listing these items individually? The only thing that this prevents is custom orders being conveniently placed on vendors for pickup.
Also, not everyone visits the forums or checks them religiously. I don't believe I ever noticed this change on any patch notes either. Why is this a poorly implemented solution? People never receive a warning when they list containers on vendors. I'm not just talking about merchants--I'malso refering tonon-merchants who obliviously offer items to vendors inside travel packs. The"fix" affectspeople on both sides of the fence. Where is the pop-up box that warns people of the loss of their items? If the game allows you to list items in containers, why doesn't it inform you that anything contained in the packs will be lost?
In short, this change makes absolutely no sense at all. It was poorly thought out, poorly implemented, and poorly advertised.
Major problem: Server Resets and having to reset ad barking and planet map stuff.
Improvement: Adding an admin list to the vendors to allow people to sell items on your vendor. I also saw and idea where you could set a percentage of the money that goes to who ever you are selling the item for. This would work out SOOO well and save alot of time and give players more control over the sale of their own goods while still having the available skill points to take on some other perfession besides merchant.
My number one issue: Auction Unsuccessful's every seven days
My one improvement: Ability to have your vendors Image Designed at Novice Merchant.
Uhhhh...I hate to be ignorant about this, but week seven started on August 30 if I read back to theinitial posting of this thread. Are we going to start a new thread (week 11?) at some point or just wait until the Devs actually reply to our two most obvious pressing issues that have *still* not been fixed?
Again, I don't mean to be an ass about this, I know Marquie has been doing a good job, it just seems that the correspondent thing has started to die down and we still haven't gotten any real love from the Devs...
Concern:Vendor Fees
Improvement:No more email notification, give us a UI box that we can track our vendors and merchandise with.

"1] Merchants at various levels should have access to special housing to use as businesses. These structures should be completely different from the other housing and be immediately recognizable as a place of business. They should also be designed with a large open, well lit area. There should be at least 2 different businesses (one for non-master and one for master), a nice touch would be to make them take up less lots than a traditional house and maybe offer a little more storage to put stuff on display (remember only merchants get these structures)."
Whoever said this above, this is a great idea.
My One issue: 7 day vendor limit
My One Improvment: Being able to sort your products into your own catergories instead of the default (not a big issue.... just an idea)
Too many concerns to list lol so here's the top
Concern: Vendor global advertisements have to be reset every day.
For those of us who cant get on till after 7pm, it kinda destroys the days sales for us
Improvement: not a big one, but maybe a 1-hour stand by that will keep items on your vendor and allow you to transport them to a new shop. Its a pain the butt to move 200+ weapons from one shop to a new one.
Other concerns...
Ad barking not working
lack of bonus for taking all merchant skills, expecially master
lack of variation in our shops and a regular home. Even the signs arent good enough. Half the time they are bugged and show up overlapping multiple other signs or are stuck back against a large house and cant be seen. Why cant we have a sign that goes OVER our house like u see at fast food places.
7-day time limit on items-remove limit OR add in a resell button that will automatically resell it at same price it was.
old signs not dissapearing. the area near my pa hall is COVERED with numerous signs from old houses
availability to customise look of vendors. maybe make this a master only skill, but why not add in a design window, or at least let us see the vendor in a window first with a 'random look' buttom we can hit till we get something we like
