Every time you can put a new vendor into the world, put it.

You get 150xp/hr per vendor.

Hats off to SOE. Not many companies could take the best MMO on the market and fu*k it up completely, that takes real skill.

Gather a bunch of friends. Have them run by and view your vendor...regardless of whether it has anything and they don't have to buy anything. Have them just browse for a moment or two ( probalby half a minute at the most ).

Have them then leave and return in 15 minutes.

Also as others stated place your maximum number of vendors.

How often can someone click a vendor to give the owner XP?, how much do you get per click, and how much XP, and how often do you get XP for your vendors just existing?

From this thread stickied above...

Now that you have reached the top of the Business Tree you have to get 5000 Merchant XP to train the Novice Merchant skill box. This XP is generated by three methods. The first is 150 xp per hour that you get for just having a vendor. So Create your first vendor by going to a house terminal and selecting Create Vendor. You will have few choices at this point so select either Bulky or Robodroid and give the vendor a name. The vendor will be placed in your inventory. Next go to the precise place you want to put the vendor down (choose this wisely because you can't move the vendor after placing it. If you mess this up you will have to remove the vendor and create a new one). Click on the vendor in your inventory and select drop. If the vendor isn't facing the right way you can rotate it to fact the correct direction. Do this first before anything else. You can rotate the vendor in one of two ways. The rotate menu item on the radial menu will rotate the vendor 90 degrees each time. The /rotate command will allow you to rotate the vendor free form any amount you desire. Once you have it in the right place and facing the right direction select "Initialize Vendor" from the radial menu. This links the vendor into the vendor database system and sets it up for business. Put some maintenance in the vendor via the radial menu and you are ready to start your journey to Merchant.

The second method of generating Merchant XP is the access fee. You can set an access fee of 1-50,000 credits for a time period of 15 minutes to 2 days. Every time someone who is not listed on the Entry Permission of your structure tries to enter it prompts them to pay the amount you have set up. If they pay it they are granted access for the time period you designated and you are given 50 Merchant XP.

The third method of generating Merchant XP is customers viewing your vendor. Each person who visits your vendor and views the contents will grant you 50 xp. The limitation to this is that an individual cannot generate Merchant XP for you more often than once every 10 minutes.

Is there any way to gain merchant XP other than having people see your vendor? Because this is going to take FOREVER!!!!

If you want some friends to help.

Actually, if you have friends with some things to sell that are good (loot comes to mind) throw it on a vendor in a visible spot. I think you'd be shocked how fast the XP will fly in. In those rare times that I am somewhat without a goal to accompish I head out shopping throughout the galaxy.

Some of the best gems I've found in the game are on little robovendors. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

Just be patient, it always seems to go slow at first, but after you get a few boxes it will start to pick up. I dont really care for the whole macroing the vendor thing, but I will put out as many vendors as I can so I am maximizing the XP potential. I usually stick these in a non store structure or in the back room of my store, so I dont have empty vendors about. Then just find other stuff to do while the Merchant XP rolls in.

Have your vendors up, and PAY the maintenance for them.
There seem to have been a stealth change and you get double XP for vendors if the maintenance is paid

one way of getting merchant xp is to set your vendor on ad barking, then you walk in and out of the building and every time he says something to you , you get a bit of xp. carry on doing this to master merchant quickly. when you get advertisement 4 which you should go for first, get an ad barking droid. set it to walk around saying stuff. while it is doing that ppl get the wp off it there forte giving you xp. but leave it in the city, then continue running in and out of your house.
