Thread: Vendor changes coming

I realize that the vendor limits are a much more serious concern. But I'd like to point out that the "empty vendor" rules (not showing no map, or vanishing) are ludicrous.

All that will happen is empty vendors will be replaced by vendors with one useless item for 99999999 credits placed there to keep the vendor alive.

Empty vendors aren't the problem. The problem is being unable to know what's for sale without visiting in person. This high-tech galaxy needs some equivalent of calling the store and asking, or online comparison shopping.

I've been a Tailor ever since I started playing nearly a year ago. I have a huge selection of clothing and all my customers tell me I have the best selection they've ever seen.

Being limited to 660 items will kill my business and result in the cancellation of my accounts.

This is not a nerf its a game wrecker thanx SOE, for ruining everything again. Considering not resubscribing and leaving this shoddy game and these uncaring Devs. If this goes through Im gonna start looking for the next game for Pax on Radiant.

This game will be dead or dying.

Scape Guild Leader Pax.

Xscape Mayor Pax City.

And that sure as hell wont be an SOE game ever again.

I tried to express how I feel in a nice, long, detailed, point-by-point response, but...

All I can see is the end of SWG.

Soooo many people quit after their jedi toy was messed up.

Now you want to take the ability for people to have a store away, it's going to cause another mass exodus.

And the people that will be leaving this time, are the backbone of the ingame economy.

I've heard EQ2 looks really nice, but I don't want to give Sony another chance to ruin my fun.

All you people that are saying we should have the dropping skills bug fixed are screwed up...just think of it like this,

Master Doctors like to fight sometimes, hey decide to master a fighting skill and then they only have 18 sp left, are you claiming thatthey should have to forget about a master fighting prof just because they HAVE to have business 3 to have one meesly vendor, also when people equip their vendors with gung and clothing does that mean they HAVE to have the right skill to keep their vendor equipped, you've got to understand that there is more to this game than crafting and selling, we want to have some fun so please dont fix this bug its what makes the game fun!!!!!!!!!

Another factor is when people are an uber fighting prof like TK 4-0-0-0, master pistoleer and BH pistols, are you saying they have to drop one of their profs just so they can sell a few loot items, all you people who are whining have NO idea how hard it is to get fighting prof XP, so just shut up!

Noooooooo...

Those limits are so low. I'll be screwed. I work so hard on my vendors and keeping up a good business, being fully stocked in clothing, and I don't have the skill points to go any farther in the Management Tree. I'm a Master ID/Master Tailor/3441 Merchant with 0 skill points left.If this happens all the work I've put into my business will all be in vain. I have like 100+ shirts alone on my vendor. How do they even expect Tailors to be able to work with this and still provide any selection?

I'm happy about them doing something about empty vendors. Thats the most frustrating thing ever to be looking for something and finding 80% of the vendors are empty. But the limit is majorly punishing honest Merchants who've done nothing wrong but do their best to provide for the players in this game.

Well I have to agree that this is insane. While any new crafters will probablythink there isn't a problem with this, anyone who is strictly a crafter and has been one for any length of time(and for whom this ishow they choose to play the game) will feel they have been kick in the teeth if thismakes itthrough to the main game. I'm a Master Architect/ Master Artisan and have been for almost as long as I have been playing. My "Arts and Crafts" Vendor currently has upwards of 3000 items on it. I choose to do factory runs on furniture so that customers can find what they are looking for instead of me crafting 1 or 2 itmes of each item and having them sell out before the day is over. These new limits would be totally unworkable if you truely want to play the game as any sort of crafter. When I add powerups to my vendor I don't just add one or two, I do a complete factory run on them(the only way really to do it so that your Vendor stays stocked) With the many different types of powerups this would be impossible to do, there are just to many variations unless the Devs just want everyone to stock the same thing. Crafters are so few in numbers now that cities cry out for them and actively try and recruite them, if these changes go through I think you'll be hard pressed to find many crafters at all and most Vendors you'll come across will already be empty or will stock the same old thing. It'll truely be a sad day in the galaxy when this happens and I can only hope that someone will listen to us even if we are only the small miniority of people that play the game. Without the crafters this game would grind to a halt.......

This is point blank insane. Lets Talk Mining Company. Iron Steel Copper Aluminum and how many kinds of Ore and Gem Stone?. What if we add in Chemical? Maybe we sell organics too how many kinds of hide, meat and bone are there?

Now lets say youe a Master Merchant Master Crafter of any Kind at the same time. What are Vendors now just show rooms where you show your display items at 9999999 credits each then sell in the trade window?

Take it another way lets say your a merchant who can fight a bit. Even at master your spending all your time restocking and have no time to go hunt.

Please listen Devs these limits are way way to low.

*huge mirth*

This is hilarious.

There is no way this will go live, guys, so no need to flame them anymore.

Here's why:

IF this goes live:

  • 90% of vendors will disappear entirely

  • The 10% that remain will unstock their items, and because we have nowhere to store them, will delete them a few days later. This will cause massive quitting amongst the crafter section.

  • The hardcore crafters will all attempt to cope by putting things in backs, doing special orders, etc. But within a month, it will all be too much effort, and the hardcore crafters will scale down, or take up something more fun.

  • At this stage, they will have lost all the crafters who played mostly solo. This will have serious knock on effects.

  • 1) The only way to get semi-decent equipment will be in large guilds, who make for their own.

  • 2) The solo-player or person not in a guild, will not be able to get armour, buffs, weapons, food or anything. The few vendors left will be catering to high-volume, single item sales (like selling full crates of 50 to guilds)

  • PvP will be one-sided - larger, better equipped guilds will rule easily over smaller operations.

  • New people will not be able to buy anything from the few vendors left

  • Old people will moan moan about "it's not the same as it's used to be" and leave.

The only people not affected will be Jedi, who will grow more and more separate from the people they used to game with.

This one seemingly quite small change will utterly bankrupt the SWG Universe economy, and in doing so, ruin the game for everyone, and in doingthat - ruin Sony's End of Year Balance Sheet.

Therefore, it'll never go live.

These are all great points and ones I have thought of myself. I am a resource dealer and need to carry alot of product on my vendors because of all the different crafters that require specific resources to make their product. If this did go live, I would cancel 2 of my 3 accounts and possibly 3, sell all my stock at a fire sale and quit the resource business. Even though I am not the only resource business on my server, this still would be a huge problem for the crafters that rely on me. Crafters would have to do their own resource gathering which would be a major pain for some; so much that they would quit their profession or like you said only craft for their guild.

It does amaze me that the devs have even floated this at all. What was their point in doing so? Already many of our guild has left or are getting ready to quit when new games come out. The only reason I have continued to play this game is because of my online business. I also have at least 10 players that sell to me wholesale that would be out of business too. The ripple effect would be devasting for the economy of this game IMHO!
