Thread: Vendor changes coming
All that will happen is empty vendors will be replaced by vendors with one useless item for 99999999 credits placed there to keep the vendor alive.
Empty vendors aren't the problem. The problem is being unable to know what's for sale without visiting in person. This high-tech galaxy needs some equivalent of calling the store and asking, or online comparison shopping.

- 90% of vendors will disappear entirely
- The 10% that remain will unstock their items, and because we have nowhere to store them, will delete them a few days later. This will cause massive quitting amongst the crafter section.
- The hardcore crafters will all attempt to cope by putting things in backs, doing special orders, etc. But within a month, it will all be too much effort, and the hardcore crafters will scale down, or take up something more fun.
- At this stage, they will have lost all the crafters who played mostly solo. This will have serious knock on effects.
- 1) The only way to get semi-decent equipment will be in large guilds, who make for their own.
- 2) The solo-player or person not in a guild, will not be able to get armour, buffs, weapons, food or anything. The few vendors left will be catering to high-volume, single item sales (like selling full crates of 50 to guilds)
- PvP will be one-sided - larger, better equipped guilds will rule easily over smaller operations.
- New people will not be able to buy anything from the few vendors left
- Old people will moan moan about "it's not the same as it's used to be" and leave.
The only people not affected will be Jedi, who will grow more and more separate from the people they used to game with.
This one seemingly quite small change will utterly bankrupt the SWG Universe economy, and in doing so, ruin the game for everyone, and in doingthat - ruin Sony's End of Year Balance Sheet.

This is hilarious.
There is no way this will go live, guys, so no need to flame them anymore.
Here's why:

Therefore, it'll never go live.
These are all great points and ones I have thought of myself. I am a resource dealer and need to carry alot of product on my vendors because of all the different crafters that require specific resources to make their product. If this did go live, I would cancel 2 of my 3 accounts and possibly 3, sell all my stock at a fire sale and quit the resource business. Even though I am not the only resource business on my server, this still would be a huge problem for the crafters that rely on me. Crafters would have to do their own resource gathering which would be a major pain for some; so much that they would quit their profession or like you said only craft for their guild.
It does amaze me that the devs have even floated this at all. What was their point in doing so? Already many of our guild has left or are getting ready to quit when new games come out. The only reason I have continued to play this game is because of my online business. I also have at least 10 players that sell to me wholesale that would be out of business too. The ripple effect would be devasting for the economy of this game IMHO!
