I am an AS with no merchant skills, I franchise my sales through a vendor run by a Master Merchant. This idiocy will simply put me out of business, I love the challenge of being a good AS but will NOT put as much time into it as I would a real job. With the repeat stocking that would be needed that is what this would mean. Either that or doubling the prices, stocking bagged suits only and putting newb's further out of the game. That doesn't even mention what this would do to my Merchant or the one who runs the mall my vendor's in...
If this goes live it's enough to force me out of AS and petentially out of the game entirely. I suggest now taht if it does go live we organise a protest that makes the "wookies want armour" one look like the Teddy Bears Picnic.
This crap WOULD limit the AFK profit but it's also going to reduce product availability to the consumer and probably force prices up again. Sheesh, it's bad enough for newbs now!

This limit is ridiculous, and double or triple is still not enough.
The only thing they are encouraging is people to use vendors as storage, as I bet having 110 packs full of 50 items each up for sale for 9999999999 will still be possible.
SOE have NO IDEA about what is needed in most merchant businesses to keep stock at reasonable levels for customer satisfaction.
Its like they left a zero off the end of their figures .. that would maybe be more realistic.
I would much rather see something like this:
Artisan Business 3 Get (1) Vendor, that will hold (500) items, for a total of (500) items for all vendors
Merchant Novice Get (2) Vendors, that will hold (600) items, for a total of (1200) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 1 Get (3) Vendors, that will hold (700) items, for a total of (2100) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 2 Get (4) Vendors, that will hold (800) items, for a total of (3200) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 3 Get (5) Vendors, that will hold (900) items, for a total of (4500) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 4 Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (1000) items, for a total of (6000) items for all vendors
Merchant Master Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (1100) items, for a total of (6600) items for all vendors
I currently have6 vendors up. The resource vendor regularly holds up to 500 items, the Trash and Treasure vendor holds around 500 items, thetemp Clothing vendor has around 100 items left onit, the Faction vendor holds around 140 items, the Art vendor holds under 100 items and the Furniture vendor currently has over 700 items and really needs to hold over 1000 to be fully stocked.
I need a aggregate cap of at least3000 items. I'm sure there are others who legitimately need even more.
Take furniture sales for example, I try to stock about 10 of every furniture item. People who are doing alot of decorating often come and buy the entire 10 items to achieve a certain look. Under the new system I couldn't even stock 2 of every item.
Same with resources, people want to buy a bunch of the same type of resource usually, but different customers want different kinds of resources. I don't even break mine up into convenient piles, and I still won't have nearly enough room to keep a nicely stocked resource vendor.
See what effect taking the empty vendors off the map and deleting the abandoned vendors has on your precious database before you screw over the real merchants please!!
And remember, its not just one class you are messing with, its all our customers too which equates to the entire player base!! You build a game that is based on a player economy and then you cripple the base of that economy? What's next, vending machines in the cities sellingcrafted wares for half the production costs?

Where did this information come from?
Seems like SOE wants another mass account cancelation weekend.
Ya cant GCW and now ya cant retail. What are we supposed to do in SWG? Gock at those who could afford to stay home all day and unlock?
What is going on?
Where did this information come from?

This is stupid. I run 3 vendors with over 2000 items for sale. I sell buff packs mostly. I would have to babysit my vendors all day long to keep them stocked because the stuff sells fast. This will cause me to cancel both account if it goes through.

Ok dumb question here but bear with me.
Is a full backpack of 50 items 1 item? Is a backpack with 9 items in it 1 item?
These questions matter. Yes I know a lot of folks use vendors for storage, and that's not how they are intended. In no means am I advocating such use. But I also know a lot of medical vendors/armorsmiths/tailors who sell either components or full suits of armor, or crates of syth cloth in packs. It's easier to buy 1 pack with 1000 syuth cloth in it then have to purchase 40 crates. This is a legitamate use of a backpack on a vendor. So if they count maybe maybe we can choke down this nerf if the numbers were increased by a factor of 5.....or some of the professions could. Others like tailors are just royally screwed though. I feel sorry for them, as a friend of mine was one and I saw how much work it was to keep styles and colors in stock.
In short this nerf is ridiculous. But if we are going to have it shoved down our throats we need info like do packs count as 1 or as the sum of their contents. Ironically the very people who are a cause for some of this dev nerfing may be the ones who help fight it.

I don't think that is a dumb question at all. I'd like to know also.

First, fix the problem where you can drop merchant and keep your vendor....it's a mockery to the profession.
Second...not listing empty vendors on the planetary map is good...who likes to drive across a planet only to find an empty vendor?
Third...destroying of empty vendors I can live with...it's empty, you don't lose anything...just come back and make a new one if you goof. (One can only hope that the e-mail notifications will happen in a timely manner...*NOT* like the supposed e-mails I recieved when my factories poofed due to no maintenance...I'd like to stress the word SUPPOSED.)
Fourth...limits are understandable, but...well...I'm speechless. Wow. Full runs will be pointless, unless you only want 1 thing on your vendor. There is no place to put the overstock and we've begged for more space already. We'll be restocking everyday and never get to enjoy any of the rest of the game.
I don't mind working my craft and doing my job....but there are other parts of the galaxy I'd like to see too.

I wonder if anyone at LucasArts ever keeps an eye on how the cheapskate SOE screws over paying customers and makes them cancel accounts ?

I have about 1700 weapons on 3 vendors stocked, I also have 2 resources vendors with about 750 items of 20k stacks on each vendor. i then also carry a misc vendor that has about 400 items containing powerup's, repair tools, and crafting tools. I dont have vendors that contain "junk" or are empty. This would kill my business.
