Merchant Archive
Thread: Before you cast the first stone...
I don't think I have seen any posts asking what the punishment was... I have seen several though that ask what happens to their vendors when they drop merchant. Big difference.

Well I have not used any of these exploits. (Well the speeder one yes but only after losing several speeders to night sisters)
Oh, well, it doesn't count if night sisters killed the speeders, does it? Exploits don't count as exploits if night sisters are involved.

Hehe good point, we didn't cry nerf when it got fixed. But really, repairing it the right way was bugged too so...
The majority of the community actually did protest that the repair exploit shouldn't be fixed until repairing it the "right" way got fixed. In a rare display of good sense, the devs listened.
Doesn't changethe fact that it was a filthy exploit and you're all going to hell for it, though. Even those of you who didn't do it.

where as poached vendors take money out of merchant's pockets because those are items we could be selling for crafters for a commission.
You know, if there was a nice and easy way to get the commission set up, I'd be all for this. However, THERE'S NOT! And yes, I have the points invested in one of my characters. So I'm okay. Do I get upset about a couple of the guys in my guild that got the vendors and dropped? Not really, at least, not until there's a good way for me to take their stock and not have to deal with all of the risk involved.
We've got a Master Doc who sells buff packs. He could have up to 10 MILLION credits worth of stock on his vendor at any one time. I'm certainly not about to buy all of that from him, and see about reselling it. Not and have any credits left to do what I want to do with them. I like making things a whole lot more than I like dealing with my vendors.

It wasn't possible to repair vehicles the right way. So if that wasn't fixed too it would not have been possible to repair vehicles at all. While it's possible to keep a vendor... if you invest the skills. We need to stop comparing apples and oranges.
It WAS possible to repair vehicles the right way. It was just a pain in the ass. (Locate one of the garages, fix it, and remember to store it, or it'll autostore and then "forget" the repairs when it comes back.)
Similarly, it's currently possible for non-merchants to sell their wares the right way. It's just a pain in the ass. (Either locate a merchant with enough capital to buy your stock up front, or find one you trust to pay you back after the sales complete. Then run "delivery missions" to the vendor and grapple with the one-at-a-time interface to offer them, so the merchant can in turn grapple with the one-at-a-time interface to accept them, and then another one-at-a-time interface to sell them, marking them up manually, of course.)
With vehicles, the devs fixed the exploit at the same time that they made it feasible to repair the vehicles the right way.
You filthy exploiters.
