Wow, that right there IS the nightmare of every player. In a way I think it's good that this happened to a correspondent, for the collective good in getting stuff like this adressed, but I sure feel bad for you. I suffered a loss of a few thousand unitls of resourcesand it took them about a month to reinberse me for it, lol, I just hope they give you a lot better service on a loss that is obviously devestating like yours.

I'm glad you decided to stay, and I admire your spirit, even though I don't always agree with you in the forums. And even though it's easy for me to say, not being in your shoes, starting over again does have it's advantages, challenges and fun. You can ALWAYS do it "better" the second time around

If you decide to start over on Bria, you can be my merchant any day!

Out of curiosity Marqie, is your shop on a server line? Every person I know that has had their house or vendors disappear/become invisible has had the server line right though their house......I have had someone with a pet test this a couple times now, and in both cases the line went right through the middle.....I am so grateful by dumb luck my shops don't appear to be on one, and needless to say, the above people picked up and moved. It is a devestating/game quitting problem (I recently gave an ingame friend some gifts when a CSR told him that he had not paid maintenance and lost most everything - he is quite sure he did) - just occurred to me that I should see if it on a server line too.....Good luck Marqie, and I hope they take care of you!

Just out of curiosity how do you test for this?

DocSavage, from R2friend's comment about "friends with pets" I assume he is identifying the "pet stall" line with the server line.

I have observed that there is a clear line outside (most) cities that pets will not cross unless called. You are running along with you pet behind you, and it suddenly stops. If you call it (from within about 32m, possibly more with /tellpet), it will cross the line and start following you again. Sometimes you can get the pet across by slowing to a walk (so the pet is very close), when you cross it.

I had noticed items about this on the boards before I had a pet. Not a big problem once you know where the line is, but has the potential for disaster if you forget. Nothing is quite like running up to a lair of reds you can't handle alone and yelling "attack" at a pet several hundred meters behind :-)

I think I have seen Dev postings identifying this as a server boundry issue, but I also think that was in regard to wishful thinking claims it had been fixed :-(

Hmmm. I seem to have this problem more frequently with some pets than I do with others. But I have experienced it quite a bit. Never thought it had anything to do with server lines. Interesting

Dont blame you at all think most people are getting the hump with the game atm...

Its a shame the game could of had so much to offer but seems to be going stale.

/sarcasm

but they said in magazine interviews that the customers were happy and they are working all the bugs out. they wouldn't lie would they?

/sarcasm off

they are lying, cheating, and stealing from their customers everyday. more and more people are discovering that SOE does not care about their customers one bit. there are plenty of others willing to take our place if we leave out of frustration. for now anyway.

sorry about what happennned to you Marqie. but we shouldn't have been surprised. standard operating procedure at SOE. hell, Bluesbacca can't even get his name fixxed for crying out loud. very sad.

people can overlook bugs and bad design to a certain extent, but dreadful customer service is not excusable.

i'm glad to see the supportive community. it's the only thing holding this game together. without it..........well, i wouldn't be here.

Marqie. I am so sorry.

Please don't go if possible. But if you do go, please let the devs know EXACTLY what you think. This problem has occurred at least twice on my home server and now you. It's a bug that never should have happened. EVER. This should be caught and aggressively looked at.

GET ON THE BALL SOE, LUCAS, ALL OF YOU PEOPLE IN "POWER"... (if they had power, they'd be able to actually DO something about stuff like this. As it is, the game database has the power. The humans just seem to sit around and watch whatever the database decides to throw a temper tantrum on this week)

God bless you Marqie. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Sad to hear this, marqie. You were an excellent Corresponant and no doubt a great player.

My commitment is not to SWG, but to the PA I have helped develop over the last 18 months. Sometimes I pray for an excuse to quit this game but I feel an obligation to my PA.

I definately feel no obligation to SOE.

If it wasn't for my PA I would be.... well, let's just say, in my leaving there would be little love shown for SOE.

**edit**...and you where one of the good correspondants....

i think it says alot when a good number of you have quit...

but as you said...it gets dull.....i really have no reason to log in....all i do is log on, see i have no mail..check if there was a resource shift, decide that i dont want to walk for and hour and log off....

i would also have to say that business sucks.....i actually have better products to sell but sales keep declining....so either its just market saturation or their are way fewer customers...

Marqie---I know that sickening pain all too well.

Two weeks ago, I logged on to find my Large Tattoine house, with 3 vendors, about 400+ items on them, 50+ crates of components, and tons of furniture/displays....GONE.

I about threw up. I *knew* I had at least a few days maintenance on it. I sent a CSR ticket and was told 'maintanence wasn't paid according to our records, sorry we can't reimburse you or replace anything'. I checked my factory on a hunch...I had put 4 days of maintenance in it the day before. That morning (post patch I might add) it was at 39%!!!

I can only conclude that the maintenance calculator is erratic at best. I have since heard stories from other people about harvesters and houses suddenly fast-forwarding a few days thru and dropping to below 100% integrity for no reason.

I decided to rebuild, and thankfully had everyone from customers to guildmates offer to help me out with hides, harvesters, resources, etc. I am back up and running and the store looks as beautiful as ever. But I will tell you this....financially (in game) I have not recovered nor do I expect to...the days of 60k in sales a day are gone for Tailors. My funds dwindle, and my enthusiasm has too. The hassles involved with maintaining vendors has turned into work, and as a crafter I feel this game --while having possiblly the best crafting system ever-- has really short shrifted the class and neglected them.

For all the chatter about 'player driven economy' that I read about over and over since this game was in its testing stages, you would have thought that Merchant would have been the ONE class that actually worked properly. Shame on SOE that they have run people out of the game over stupid things like this.

/hugs and salute

I think this has happened to me on occasion during resource shifts, especially on one galaxy for the longest timeI was losing half a day on my harvestors per shift, not sure about my houses. I haven't had that problem lately, but I did in the past. And too many people do seem to be paying their maintenance, yet losing their houses....
