Thread: Merchant Correspondant (Week 8)
Concern = Poor advertising capablities - Let the skills work as intended or change theri description
Improvement = Allow 30-day Vendor sales and/or add a button that will re-list all items in the stockrom for the same mount it was listed at before. Add a "Retrieve All" Button to the stockroom. Add a "Withdraw All Items" button
Improvement = Drop the silly item cap. Tailors cannot realistically make displays while sharing a house (give us SHOPS) with otoher crafters. If we wanna store 10,000 items, by golly, WE WILL. Item caps will NOT stop us, so YOU stop TRYING. Fix the dang database!!
Concern: Having to re-register your vendor on the map daily!!! This is what being a master merchant is all about, advertising!!! I believe that this should be a MASTER MERCHANT skill only.
Concern: Being able to operate vendors AFTER surrendering the merchant skills (I can't believe that this can actually happen)....this is a no brainer...if you don't want to be a merchant, then you don't get the benefits of ACTUALLY BEING a merchant.
Concern: Add barking. When you get to the point of being able to customize the sales pitch, this is a cool thing, but they are standing in front of your vendor....the battle is already almost won. This is not a major concern for me.
Concern: Special shop/housing. I think this is an EXCELLENT IDEA. Again, I think the merchant should be able to use his ingenuity to aquire special buildings.
If you actually look at the merchant tree, you discover that there is really no benefit to gaining all those skills, and working as a merchant. Whensomeone can become a master archetect, and then put up a vendor, gain Adv 3, get 2 more vendors, then keep his vendors, and gain master tailor, weaponsmith, armorsmith, etc....then what use is a merchant? He can sell all of his things on his vendors, and they are listed on the planetary map!!! <shrug> "who needs a merchant!!"
This class has no TANGIBLE value. We do not make, bake, produce, tame, loot, shoot, or dance for anyone else. What a merchant DOES DO, is bring all those things together, in ONE PLACE for everyone to use. THAT is the skill of a merchant, and if everyone else can do it, (as in Adv III)and still master 2 other skills, well, ........whats the point.
Please get the Devs to help make the merchant class something that stands out with a skill of its own.
Improvment: Timer on vendor items,... anything beyond 7 day limit would be great... min. of 2 weeks
Improvement: want longer than a 7 day limit on vendor sales
Concern: Too many e-mails from my vendors.
"Yes, I know that I just withdrew the sale. I'm standing right in front of you!" Arget, said to Genera, his first vendor.
Improvement: Have NPCs occasionally purchase items from the Bazaar and Vendors.
Wouldn't you love to get an e-mail saying that Han Solo had purchased something from your vendor?
Concern: 7 day vendor timemout is an absolute killer, but products vanishing a few days after they timeout is even worse.
Improvement: fix the categorization of things. It's much worse to have a category that doesn't work than to not have a category at all. For example they added a pet products category (forget what it's called) only none of the pet products actually make it into that category. Same thing for wookiee clothing. At least before people looking for pet stuff poked around in other categories looking for it, now they see that new category, and that it is empty, and just give up.
Concern: 7 day item limit on vendor
Improvement: Ability to havesales for individual people or (yes I know it'll be shot down) remote management of vendors.
(I feel like a Dilbert cartoon having to deal with my vendors face-to-facewhen trying to tell them what to sell something at. They look at me, point to their comlink, and say "Do they have these where you come from?"...)
Concern: Time limits on items in myown vendors. Bleah! Theresulting busywork totally blows, transforming entertainmentinto drudgery. On top of that, I can't figure out whythe employee gets to decide that items have to come off the shelf, or get thrown away.(Loosely related: I think it would be funtovisit a prison filledwith NPC vendorsthat got caught after disappearing withtheiremployers'goods. Could maybe be turned intoa theme park...)
Improvement: Allow merchants' vendorsales to be accessed from the public bazaar. Instead of having to abandon publicexposure in order to sell big-ticket items (aren't merchants supposed to be ad-savvy?), merchants should have a way to get their prize wares back into public view, on the bazaar. Merchants should be able to(progressively, according to skill level)connect their vendorswith (1) their other vendors, then(2) regional bazaar, (3) planet-wide bazaar, and (4) galaxy-wide bazaar. Perhaps they would need a slicer's helpto get each vendor connected? The customer would, as normal, receive an email with a waypoint to the pickup location...
Concern: Reset of the Planetary Advertising and alike every day.
Improvement: Ability to grant administrative rights on your own vendor to someone else.
Concern: having to reset ad barking and planetary map everyday. would like to see ad barking stay at what you put it until you change it yourself much like signs or shop names. planetary map should list in alphabetical order to take care of who is on top not first one registered.
improvement: since 7 day stoking has been stated many times and i agree, i will post something different. I would like to see a WITHDRAW ALL SALES button and a RETRIEVE ALL button on the vendors. to save time
Concern: Unable to offer Certain players items for custom orders.
Improvement: Make an option to offer an item on your vendor to a player. Just how they can offer and item for sale to the vendor owner.
Concern: Vendors arents working as supposed, can not be used as "Bazar" for selected Persons
Improvement: Access-List for peoples including a Price for Listing Items and the Percentage (10-50%)if its sold. The Listing-Fee and the Merchants percentage should go to the Maintenance Pool of the Vendor, the rest should go to the sellers Bank account instantly. Allow a maximum of 20 additional peoples per vendor for balancing.
If you are still looking for money sinks, think about adding an option. If people want to get their money instantly, then they have to pay 5%, otherwise they have to deposit it from the vendor like from a bank terminal.
Read ya.
Improvement: Allow sale of "package deals." I'd love to be able to sell a powered up weapon, plus a crate of power ups. Or perhaps a full suit of armor.
Improvement: Make the stockroom work like a stock room! Change stockroom to automatically feed sales once an identical item is sold. If I put a Laser Rifle that I pulled from a crate on sale, and then put the rest of the crate in the stockroom, have the sold laser rifle come from the stock room. This would allow us to list each identical item exactly once, instead of dealing with the overhead of listing N rifles at a time. This can be accomplished by means of the object id.
Improvement: Similar to above but with crates. If I sell a crate of power ups, take it from the stock room first, if any identical crates are available in there. Some care needs to be taken when dealing with single vs crated sales. If a crate is purchased, the same number of items must be in the stock room crate. If a single item is purchased, the crate with the lowest item count should be decremented. That way both these features can coexist.
I'd recommend these abilities be available at the Merchant vendor level, not artisan vendor.
