This is what the Devs do. They have a long track record of doing this type of stuff.
- We still have bugs/issues from beta almost 2 years ago.
- We still have issues with mounts/vehicles/cities from over a year old.
- The droid engineer revamp, is just a shell of what people thought it was going to do.
- Two Jedi revamps and the situation is not any better than what it was. People are still grinding to get Jedi, just hardly anyone sees them unless they go to Dath.
- There are still issues at the rebel/imperal themeparks.
- There are still issues at the Warren, and the DWB.
- Still issues with GCW changes just made.
- Still bugs with JTL, and is only used by most players as a quick way to make money. And once the CURB hits, really the only way to make consistent money.
This vendor change will not be any different to anything else added to the game. The Devs add stuff to the game to just add it, not to do it the right way, or a creative way. It is almost like they are just going through the motions and checking stuff off the list. The CURB will be no different, and then it will not matter about the global vendor because most people will leave. And do not bother posting feedback on the test server, because the Devs normal course of action is to push features live and then do hot-fixes after the fact.

I dont really mind global search. I do NOT like remote sales tho. We have instant shuttles to all starports and one minute waits on shuttle ports there is no reason for it.

I don't like the idea at all. I'm a Master Merchant/Master Architect and I worked very hard to get my storefront and other various vendors into locations that were ideal because of their location in order to have an edge on my competition. This idea will void all the work I've put into what are usually the 3 most important words in business...location, location, location. I say if it ain't broke don't fix it.

i think the option should be given to opt out of a galaxy wide search, i personally would be using it.

The defualt setting for all player vendors is 'off'. Every merchant* has to enable their vendor to be a part of the GWVC.
*Not actually Merchant. Any artisan with Business 3 or greater.

The default setting for "existing" vendors is off.
It will be on by default for new vendors.

...and if you choose off, you're basically shooting yourself in the foot. With the new system, no one will be visiting shops to browse for items. They'll just visit the nearest bazaar terminal.

I disagree, at least in relation to my own situation. I have an established customer base who shop locally in our player city. I am confident they will continue to do so. I have never wanted to compete with crafters throughout the galaxy, I only want to provide a service to the citizens of my city.
I don't plan on registering my vendors.

You are indeed in a unique position, but many merchants are not in a player city and some player cities are virtually dead. Your city is thriving and I'm happy for you, but a lot of merchants will needlessly suffer because of this change.

You don't have to convince me of that, and I'm not a big proponent of the change. I think it's the benefit of playing as a Non-Power Crafter for as long as I've been in the game. I live in a good, thriving city. New Deeja was built on the efforts of the crafters involved. Before we even bought the city hall, we were counting the number of crafters we had, and how many of the elite professions was covered well. We bought from each other and sold to the fighters who we already had as customers. We gave each other's name out, and told each other when good spawns had popped up. The result is a mini-economy that supports itself inside the larger one. Perhaps if you don't want to fight the Power-crafters, and you feel like you dont want to compete on a Galaxy wide scale, you could find a smiliar group of like minded people on your server.
I'm starting to think that if I want to ask the Combatant-types to respect my playstyle, I should at least do the same. There are Gamers who do not want to interact with a mall, or role-play with an Armorsmith. He wants a new cheater set, preferably pre-sliced, and he wants it in the next ten minutes so he can PvP for the night.
The Galaxy Wide Vendor Search allows for that. You are not required to participate.
Ah'm just sayin'

Post here your thought on the issue. Please don't rant or flame, it will just them an excuse to lock the thread.
Besides the fact that I don't like the new system, I wonder why you would start a thread when our correspondant already has a focus thread discussing this exact same thing?

Eh - posting here or anywhere else is like shouting at the TV. It makes you feel good for a min, but accomplishes nothing. When was the last time SOE showed that they listened to anyone before making decisions that hurt the game? If they had read any of the threads here or anywhere else, they would have acquired some iota of understanding about their game economy and made appropriate changes to the plan. If they had listened to our correspondant, they would have understood even more. In truth, they listen to nobody. But post away - it'll make you feel better for a minute. (so nice...1 minute of euphoric post-posting for me now...)
