Thread: Merchant Correspondant (Week 7)
Items disappearing. This is getting VERY old.
I explain to customers about logging off, making sure they have room, etc - it's just old.
Concern: Vendor fees
Improvement:
Allow merchants todo two new things with vendors:
- Sell items on Consignment for other players. This would require the merchant to enter two additional bits of information on a listed item.
- The name of the player for whom you're making the sale.
- The percentage of money that will be sent to that player's bank account when the sale occurs for the vendor. (So setting PlayerA to make 75% of a 1000c sell would result in 250 credits going to your account and 750 credit going to PlayerA's account once the item was sold.)
- List Special Order Items fora namedcustomer. This would allow the merchant to putcertain items ontheir vendor with special prices for preferred customers. Other players visitting your vendor would not even see the item, much less seelower than ordinary prices and take advantage of the sale.
2] Artisan vendors shouldn't be able to store infinite items. Artisan vendors should only be able to store 5-10 items for small sales. Merchant vendors should be able to store more and more as the efficiency line is raised so a master merchant could store 100-200 items per vendor. This makes efficiency worthwhile and addresses the storage issue the devs are concerned with.
3] You still can't hand clothing to vendors and have them wear it (although they will equip weapons).
4] The global map listings should sort randomly every time it's viewed so those sick, twisted morning people don't always end up at the top of the list. It would be nice if the global map differintiated between local vendors (within 5k radius) and global vendors (entire world).
5] Only merchants should be able to have colored signs :-P AND ONLY MERCHANTS SHOULD HAVE COLORED ITEMS IN THE BAZZAR (PREMIUM AUCTIONS) not just anyone with a knowledge of backslash color codes.
Concern: Advertising Line
Improvement: stockrooms / restocking
I would really like your "vertical" commands for house dropped items, as well as travel discountsand the resource slider, butthey ain't on the top of my list. If we can just get the dang basic skill bugs worked out first, this is a very diverseand enjoyable profession.
Thanks Marqie, keep up the good work.
Improvement : Restock Button
Reason : I put many items on my vendor all at once. A few things don't sell, and I get 10+ emails saying the item hasn't sold. It's in the stockroom. Now I have to click resell each thing one by one which gets very annoying. I am sure lots of other people do not like this as well. I have an idea which restocks all items back into the vendor from the stockroom in just 2 simple clicks. One is to click the "Restock" button, and the other is to confirm. Hopefully this can be implemented sometime soon
Concern: ALL of the bugs still in the merchant/vendor area.
Improvement: Restocking tools/7day sale limit (same issue, just 2 ways of going about it.)
Concern: the non-functioning part of the Merchant trees: hiring 3-4 and advertising issues
Improvement: make a more intuitive vendor interface. Why do you have to remove things to reprice. Too many e-mails when you accept an offer at your own vender. SHould be able to discount base on person PA or faction. Pretty much all the options discussed here![]()

To those stating that they're not getting merchant xp, and those stating they're not getting hourly xp...I'm confused on how merchant XP is actually supposed to work. Is it documented anywhere?
I have never once seen hourly xp given for just having a merchant. I currently have 5 merchants in 3 locations, and am closing in on master merchant. I have seen the following: I receive 50 xp when a player browses my merchant. Happens once, and if they browse a second merchant or any others, I receive no xp. If they return or try again after a long period of time, I receive once again 50 xp. I receive no xp for purchases, only for browsing items. That's it, that's all. With this method, I easily make 5-10k merchant xp daily and so it's never been an issue for me.
Is anyone not making at least number different customers per day * 50 xp, each day? Not items purchased, different customers shown on confirmed email. If you're not getting that, there is definately a bug. You should get more for those who buy nothing.Again, never seen any other type of XP on any merchants but it's also not described anywhere that I can find. If it helps, I've only ever usedNPC merchants.
Concern: Planetary Advertising and Ad Barking shuts off every day.
Improvement: Amount sliders on resource sales - seller sets price per unit, buy chooses how many units to purchase.
Concern: Ad tree daily reset.
Improvement: Inventory management and remote vendor administration tools.
Concern: The bugs with Advertising barking and map-list.
With the fixes supposedly up on Test for NPC vendors selling resource stacks, this is now my #1 unresolved issue.
Improvement: Take off the 7 day limit for vendor sales. Or give us better inventory management tools (restock or price change buttons). END TEH ST0CKROOM SPAM!
Concern: Advertising tree has to be reset daily.
Improvement: Player-owned vendor that is deployable in town for master merchants (marqie's idea).
Concern: The email spam as a result of the seven day sales period, the withdraw sale command, etc is very inconvenient. I play typically during weekdays in the mornings and afternoons (usually only evenings), as do many other people. Logging in to see "Auction Unsuccesful" spammed across my inbox is a hassle, not to mention restocking each item one by one back into the vendor's inventory. I keep two functional vendors up right now, fully stocked, and I am putting up a third very soon - Hundreds of emails a week from "System" is not my cup of tea.
Improvement: Please throw us a bone for even being a Merchant; a reason for existing beyond Business III. Namely, add more to Master Merchant than a Hiring mod - that's just ridiculous. My suggestion is one that's been mentioned before:
Give Master Merchants a new ability, "Traveling Salesman'. Allow the master to, when creating a vendor from their structure terminal, have this option in which the vendor goes into the datapad and becomes like a pet or droid. The vendor can then be 'called' like a pet or droid and upon Radial Menu examination, shows these options: Examine, Vendor Options, and Store. Under Vendor Options there is a command to stock the traveling vendor. Limit the stock capacity, and give said vendor a higher maintenance fee than if it were just sitting in a shop, but allow it to follow the Merchant into town, be issued the command to "Set up shop", and self initialize where you choose on a street corner, in the space port, etc. Maybe Master Merchant could lead into an elite elite profession of Traveling Merchant, but that's probably asking too much
