Thread: Vendors giving up sales after a week -make your thoughts known
bazaar, no worries, i can handle 7 days... but on the vendor, now i have lots of stock i spend the first slab of any daily playtime just putting stuff back on my vendors again that was already on there.
I'm about to go on holiday for a week - what can I do? I can't unstick the vendor because when you put all the items together with my furniture and stuff on display, it comes to well over the item limit for my house.
If I don't unstock the vendor, I'll come back to find a lot of my stock has gone into the stockroom and then been eaten two days later.
My thoughts are that:
A) It would have been nice to know, say at vendor installation, that stuff would drop off and then disappear. I went on vacation for 5 weeks, and spent a lot to time stocking my vendor to operate w/o me. And raised the cash to run the vendor and the house for the whole time. I'm fortunate that 1/2 my inventory sold quickly, as I had a loyal customer base, but I cam back to a bunch of e-mails and lost inventory. And it sends me an e-mail when the item drops to the storeroom, but NOT when it's deleted? Doh. The only upside was that I still had a huge amount of maintainence fees left over, since I dropped from 40cr rate to 0cr rate.
B)Auction end dates on personal vendors' displayis a must. Why would this be available on the bazaar and not in your own showroom?
C) I can understand limiting the amount of time as a matter of play balance. I accept that my vendor will not hold it ad infinitum. But can't I at least have a longer time limit than the world bazaar? Say, 2 weeks?
D) It needs to sit in the store room longer than 2 days. Come on!
E) We should be able to set premium items on our bazaar as well, if we have that option on the world bazaar. Today's special is...
F) Grouping items. This would be a good add-on. For example, if someone buys a full outfit from me, I cut them a discount for the total items. It would be nice if this could be done via vendors.

I was totally unaware of this.
This means when i go away for 2 -3 weeks everyting in all of my 3 shops will be gone. Weeks of work, with nothing to show. If this is the case then I guess i chose the wrong profession. Such constraints need to be publicly posted by Sony. Here i am putting hundreds of hours into their product just to find out that if i am gone for more then seen days all is lost! I am at a lost for words.
Last night I had to pull over 300 items off my vendors in order to remake them and dress them. It took 3 and a half hours, and I still haven't even gone thru my mailbox and deleted the 300 'auction unsucessful' mails I have waiting for me.
Next monday I will have at least 200 of those items drop off my vendors and again, I will have to relist them all. This makes me ill ![]()
I understand the database issue...but 7 days is just not enough time. On the public bazaar its fine, but on private vendors please make it longer, or permanent.
Items should stay listed for 30 days since last update. Each item should post when it was last updated. Thus you can update the price on items that have been listed for a long time. This assumes they allow us to update with out withdrawing.
I can't believe anything left in the stockroom for 2 days will get deleted. If I go on vacation for more thana week, I'm screwed, eh?
I don't think the CSRs are going to have a happy new year, then. Not with the billions of complaint tickets they're liable to get.
I have a small tailor shop that I run on my server, and this is the one issue that I would really like to see addressed personally.
Why? Because it makes running a shop... even a small one... just like WORK. Real-life work. I maintain about 120 items total in my vendor, not a huge selection but enough to give a customer some choices. Every day I log on and check for sales from the vendor and replace whatever has been sold... I track the items that are most popular and make more color options for the most popular ones and put those on the vendor, as well. Putting items on the vendor every day or so, however, means that I also every day have a large list of items that I have to replace in the vendor.
It is irritating, to say the least. Even if I did not have any sales that day, I still have to run to my vendor and manually re-stock each item which was taken down. Until I get there, as well, it means that these items are not available for sale... and if a lot of items came down, some customers can leave thinking I don't keep my vendor well-stocked.
And even if I DID have some sales, I always have 3x as many items that need to be replaced. It's make-work that is constant and depressing: I find most things about running a shop fun. This is a game, isn't it? Why keep things in that are just meaningless time wasters? I don't come to a game to work... and eventually this WILL put me off being a merchant.
I'll give it some time to see if this gets addressed, but I believe the ideal situation would be to allow a merchant to assign an "auction time" as you can on the public vendors... as an option... but to have the default (if no time is set) to be indefinite. As someone else said above: if I'm paying maintenance for my vendor (which is high enough as it is, often more than I'm selling), it doesn't seem fair that I should be chained to it for no good reason.

Palmer you can pull your items off into the stockroom and then relist them I'm pretty sure.
And I don't think things only last 2 days in stockroom. Unless they changed it in the last two days, I think its more like 14.
