The restocking is a true chore, only busy work. A limit to the number of items would make more sense. Doesn't make sense that my own vendor limits me to 7 days?

Everyone who is a full merchant should just drop it, if there are no elite elite professions that come from master merchant when player cities come out than i am dropping it. Besides i'm sick of getting killed by expert BH so i'm going to be one myself. I'll make the same money, be unstopable in pvp and collect FP the whole time. Merchant is retatared if you don't have a crafting profession. I just got it on accident

I actually like the concept .. just don't like the short (7 day) duration.

As a Merchant Tailor, I use this feature to track what sells and what doesn't. I have way too much inventory (over 500 items) to try and track by hand or memory. For example, I noticed last night that pantaloons are not selling like they did a few weeks ago so I am cutting back on them.

So what I do is restock some items and take the rest to the bazaar to sell it. 'Course that is when I always run into the stuff poofing in your inventory as you cross a zone line

This is THE reason I stopped using my vendors. The overhead in maintaining them was not worth the time or effort plus it is plain not fun. Even if for some reason I found this pointless activity fun nothing but very expensive items are worth spending my limited game time on this activity due to the opportunity cost.

Best thing about it is that nobody knew the items would be destroyed after 2 days in the stockroom. A CSR just told me that (after 9 days of post/replys in game).

"Why did my items disappeared while I was on vacation ? I've done all you ask : paid the vendors, paid the house, paid the harvesters, paid the manufacture"

"Because items do not stay more than 2 days in the stockroom"

"Really ? But how do we know it works that way ? If I had known, I would have stored my Large Naboo House in my inventory or bank or house rather than letting it disappear !"

"You should have asked..."

I'm really angry. Next time you dev take such a decision (even if it works this way since beta), please INFORM us. We had now way of knowing it !

NO NO NO...here is the most annoying thing.......

I didnt log in for 5 days and had to totally restock today.....

IT TOOK 3 HOURS because of lag and what not....

but thats not the worst part....the worst part is is that most of that stuff will come off again next week....BUT IT WILL DO IT OVER3 HOURS...

I have no way to tell how long anything is up for or what i put up for sale when...so my only options are to

remove everything and restock completel

or

waste anothe 3-4 hours and wait for the items to come off by themselves and restock them

This in no way helps the database because it actually has to do MORE work moving items from one place to another...it doesnt make the entries any less...just moves them around

I LOVE IT!!!

unless you guys are willing to deal with vendor item caps it's a MUST. The reason things are "stolen" from your stockroom is that it's not meant for you to use as infinite storage. just temp. until you can get to that vendor and retrive it or you relist it from any of your vendors. Just like the bazzar you leave it there too long and it will go bye bye... the only other option would be to have vendors with item limits (100-300) and leave it at that. I would much rather have a system that kicks items back. it makes me know my price is too high (or the item is junk). The other option would be far to constrictive for certian types of vendors.. (armorsmiths/tailors/resource) It just makes it nicer to never worry that you are overstocking a vendor

I totally hate it. Having to manually put everything back for sale is a PITA, with over 600 items it takes me hours...

I dont see how this affects database load anyway. doesnt the database have to remember evcerything in the stockroom as well?

Ahhh... But the stockroom has this handy delete function.

I dont think there should be an expiration player vendors. Its YOUR vendor. YOU pay for it. The limitations put on the bazaar to keep it from filling up should not apply.

There are many things that dissapoint me about the merchanting system. I think there is a disconnect in the current design for merchanting and the actual needs of players as discovered through play. In fairness to the devs, we didnt really get a good environment to test merchants in beta.. so much of this is a lot more obvious now then it was then.

Merchants are due for an over-haul.

you know, i actually must disagree with the devs own opinions here. What do you mean the STOCKROOM isn't meant for storage? I'd suggest you have a look at the stockroom of your nearest software shop. you may just discover they STORE software there. If you didn't expect us to store our wares there you should never ever ever have called it a STOCKROOM. rename it to TEMPORARY RESTOCKING BAY with a WARNING about how long it will last before being deleted. or better yet, remove the feature of items being booted after a week and remove the stockroom entirely (As Im discovering your main problem is with people storing non-stock items like its a bank-- I understand this totally). kill two Peko-Pekos with one hurtling jawa...remove the boot-to-stockroom problem for us merchants and remove the stockroom for your extra-bank problems. ...please

I would be willing to give up skill points for added time - make it an added " feature" or skill, on one of the skill trees, much like price effeciency. I hold over 1k items in my vendor(s). Restocking takes ages.
