Thread: Backpacks on Vendors

Interestingly enough I have no desire to have to break up a single run of suits onto 2-4 vendors, nor do I think people will have fun looking through a mall with 50+ vendors that used to only have 10. I've been in a mall crammed with vendors, it was an eyesore, and extremel difficult to find what I was looking for.

Then is in not nice you can have all 4000 items on one vendor or dividend over all 12 however you want?

If you aren't happy with the game..don't play. *shrug* Not sure why you would continue to do something you don't enjoy.

BTW regarding the Bazaar and the 25 item cap..I am pushing to get something done about the fact that the vendor offers are linked to that. Its annoying and it is a major hinderance to having suppliers use offers to give you merchandise.

Ugh. Just when I thought I had everything fairly well figured out how to manage everything again...again...again...again. Ugh.

Another question, has a means been hinted at or told, of how at any given moment, we are to know what the total number of items is that we have on all of our vendors?

I am currently only using 4 out of my allotment, but imagine if I had all 12 running, and trying to manage items for numerous other peoples goods besides just my own and my partners.

Ugh!

The problem: Backpack items not counting is a work around to vendor limits.

The "possible" solution: I had thought that maybe an item made forpackaging could be limited to 15 items total would be a solution but even that could and would be used as a work around for storage. Now what if they made it so that you could stick items back into the factory and could repackage them that way....?

For example an armorsmith could take1crate of each piece of composite andput it in the ingredient partof the factory and then run it thru and in thehopper would be crates with all 9 pieces in each crate. The same could be done with buffs, of course you couldn't let non related items be packaged this way but it would be a solution for those who sell armor/buffs and things of that nature where the buyer purchases seperate pieces.

I dont care what anyone says, I *need* more storage. I run DE and Architect stuff at low volume, and I run a resource business. Needless to say, I have a lot of components. 36 different DE ones, and then 19 Architect ones, for a total of 55 ( not even including droid chassis crated ). Make half runs of each one, and you have 1,100 crates of components! This allows me to make every item in these professions at will. This is how I want to play this game, I dont want to be a mass-producer, selling completed items from a factory. I make for my small Guild, and for me. Once in a great while I'll run BH droids, or Det Droids in a factory, but thats it. 90% of my items are hand-made.

So, 1100 crates of components go where? In 7 houses. Who does this affect? Every single person who drives by my compound, through lag.

Then, lets talk resources. I manage the flow from the Guild, and its anwhere from 200k a day to 700k. At least 50% get set aside to use in-guild, usually more. My personal harvs pull for me alone, and I stockpile. That is my "game" right now, collecting resources. I have over 50 million units in storage. How? 2 more houses and a vendor. Some people collect badges, some collect loot, some "notch their gun grips" after each PvP kill....I collect resources. I would love to drop some of my storage houses. If resource stacked to 500k, crates went to 100, and lots went up to 100 per lot CONSISTENTLY up through Hall's, I could do so, and, /gasp!, maybe even put some furniture in my houses.

But, I waste my time. THey wont give us ANY of those things we want, so I will just keep dropping more houses as my storage needs go up.

Funny thing is, they are legitimizing the issue of vendor storage with this cap. Once its in, and the bugs shake out, I'm moving ALL my resources to a few vendors. I'll still have plenty of room in there for the items I sell to the public.

Unacceptable. Docsavage has no clue on how to speak to SOE's customers. Employees of a company, evenvolunteer mployees, are held to standards. One of the standards is not to *shrug* at someones concerns, or tell them to leave if they dont like it.

Your job is to help these people, these merchant characters. Your failing miserably, and somehow think that stating you agree with the changes, makes everyone elses opinion less usefull.

This is like buying a car that holds 20 gallons of gas, then finding out they are changing the size of a gallon a little later. Not acceptable. All changes need to be put on the table now, along with the overall item limit cap. Sneaking changes in, after hard caps have been set is pathetic, and you should be completely against it.

Im actualy ashamed that you have the correspondant position. Im ashamed that you may actualy think your helping. Im ashamed that you dont realize any of this.

Were it up to me, I would have relived you of your position for that post alone.

12 vendor...4000 item aggregate limit...fine...I can live with that...

Now items in packs will count towards your limit which kills anyone who "packages" products. Why this change now without increasing player storage or...an alternative...increase same type item stacking. What this now does is encourage server lot swapping even more. So there will undoubtedly be another "fix/nerf" for that. And the same problem will still exist...Not enough storage.

If the reason for all of this is database related...which we have never been informed as to why...then increasing the stack size of resources and crate items should help alleviate this...So...DocSavage or a DEV...what is the master plan...because all this is doing is getting customers agry and having accounts canceled.

THE BOTTOM LINE>>>DEVELOPMENT OF THIS GAME IS FLAWED AT ITS CORE.

One of us two needs a lesson in English :-)

Docdidn't say you can't bundle. He even said that you could by stating "items inside a backpack count towards your max number". So you CAN put stuff in a backpack name it "budle armor" and sell it. You just can't cheat the max limit anymore, that's all.

Oh please. Sure, if you take my paragraph only and analyze it out of context, you'll get a different story. The whole point of my pointIS THE FACTthat it would be part of the limit now. AND WHO THE HELL IS "CHEATING" for christs sakes.

And if you're going to be questioning my 'english' and want to play games, then at least spell the word 'bundle' right.

Other than that, I see nothing else to respond to. What point were you making?

Wait.. I never said you wouldn't be able to USE backpacks

I said the contents would count toward the item count. You can continue to use them all you want. Just don't exceed your item count with them or you will have to get under it again when they fix it. I'm sorry for the confusion.

Ok, for the record because there was also a response to a post I made on this, I know that you can still use backpacks. That wasn't the point nor the issue I was trying to express.

My issue is that it will now count towards the overall number and the fact that their are geniune uses for bundling that should be taken into consideration. Automatically assuming it's used for inventory storage is unfair and untrue.

Based on how I sell various products, my item capacity will be cut in half because of this. If it were to go into Pub 10 (although you seem to indicate it won't), then this aspect alone would put me over the limit.

I'm already streamlining my shop now and have decided to stop selling various products to sell on space. Now you're throwing another wrench in with how I sell my main products.

The devs did well with the merchant limit compromise but then this just tosses it out the window again - at leat from my perspective.

I love ALL the changes, including this one. So, um, I'm "one".

I can run my business just fine, and there will be less annoyance when shopping for something myself. 999999999 backpacksget to me, as a customer.

I have just as much crap as the next person for my business. I make do. I don't just save everything, only what I need. I don't even use my factories as storage.

Sure, more storage would be nice, I'd sure love it. But I agree that vendor caps make no sense if you can "workaround" them. I view this as another good change that I look forward to. I'm pretty sure most people won't like it, but oh well. I know plenty of merchants, myself included, who have never used their vendors for storage.
