Thread: For the love of god !!!!!

Doc,
I spent 39 hours (over a sat and sunday) "moving" my vendors .. 4100 items.. delisting them.. them transferring the items to my inventory.. then relisting them .. because of this pathetic interface. The 1500 items "delisted" after 30 days because i bought a lot of furniture from an architect.. he sold it to me uncrated.. again.. took us 3 days to complete the transaction.
There is so much that could be done with this interface, simply, to help us. Your a corospondant, does anyone listen when you ask for things ? I'm getting pretty fed up with trying to manage things this way. I'm having a baby.. getting married.. and changing jobs.. and it seems i'll have to cancel both my accounts because i just dont have time to manage my business because it takes me DAYS to move stock, to relist stock or to buy stock.
I'm a pretty patient person.. but i just dont understand how SOE can ignore things like this for so long, yet we get a shiny new launch pad. quite frankly fsck the launchpad, make it so i can list multiple items at once... god its probably a simple code change..i can select multiple items.. i can hit sell.. all that remains is for it to actually LIST those items at that price!!.. please!! save my sanity !!
I'd really like to be able to move vendors too.. i have to move again soon, 160 m to a guild hall.. not looking forward to it.. another whole weekend.. or more.. wasted.
Your problem is that you are overstocking.
Its unfortunate that you purchased all these items uncrated, next time request your suppliers to deliver the items in crates. You went from 4100 items down to 1500? Thats some pretty fantastic salesmanship on your part. I imagine at this rate after re-listing your 1500 items you will have a much more manageable inventory.
Personally, I only list about 750 items on my vendors. Rather than have a massive re-list at the end of the month, I check my vendors every week. Once I see that an item is low in stock, I pull a crate out of the factory and post the items up individually. I have 3 factories, each of which has about 30 crates of finished goods in the output hoppers. This seems to allow me to store my overstock very nicely.
Moving is a PITA. But the fact of the matter is that even if there was an Automatic Re-list button, or a multi-select and relist feature, you would still have to move each and every item by hand to the new location.
We (players and corospondent) are workingto get improvements to the merchant profession. However, we know that our re-vamp will not occur until after the combat balance. Therefore, you knowhow the system works and its limitations. Adjust your business practicesso that you limit the amount of pain that you suffer and the number ofannoying tasks you have to do.

And the combat balance will not occur until after JtL. And both will have several months of fixing bugs that will pop up with both of those. In my humble opinion, the merchant profession rebalance will not occur within my lifetime.
Remember, we have already gotten our "improvements" and arewaiting for the bug fixes to those improvements. But, the devs have already moved on, so the currently operating bugs are here to stay for quite a while. So, sit back, watch JtL occur, watch JtLfixes, then watch combat balance, watch combat balance fixes, and then, perhaps, see a whole new release dedicated to merchant improvements.
Unless Jedi need something else before then . . .
Are we learning, yet?

Well.. i buy alot of items from the public.. the only stuff i make myself is meds... i buy ALOT of resources from new players to assist them.. i buy their weapons.. and armor etc etc etc that they make while grinding to TRY to give this game some kind of semblance of an economy.. i also sell the large amount of loot my alt gets while force grinding.. NONE of which comes in crates... saying i have too many items is just silly..
why would they raise the limit on the # of items we can have then ?.. their needs to be a more manageable interface for this stuff.. plain and simple.. excuses/solutions involving cutting down the amount of items i sell just wont work..
and yes i do tend to sell alot of stuff..i advertise alot..i'm 800m outside mos eisley.. newbie city.. everyone around knows my name.. i advertise alot on the auction channels aswell.. so i do move alot of merchandise.. i dont just sell one thing.. I'm also expanding to corelia (i have a shop going up 800m directly out the front gate of coronet) .. and Naboo .. so this interface is of great concern to me..

>It is true that Combat changes won't be FINISHED until after JTL is released....Good Point Doc. Combat changes started at least as early as DEC 2003 when game creatures and the CH profession were "balanced" to the new combat system. Now how that was done before they even wrote the Specs for the Combat Rebalance is one of the secrets that make software design more of an art than a science. Just ask anyone who has managed Software Engineers

That really wasn't my point. Those changes were part of an idea of balancing combat on a much smaller scale than we are now talking about. What we are now looking at is massive.

i buy crates of furniture when decorating. If i'm shopping i'm buying lots of furniture and often need many duplicate items.. i hate buying 5 single items if I can buy and crate of 10 and just throw away the rest. The reason is inventory space. If i'm shopping, I want it and usually have a fully backpack.. inventory space is precious so i don't want those items taking up any more space than needed till I really need the items... and yes, I have been known to buy a crate of 10 and use one item and delete or give away the rest. working a new theme, some things work and some don't... I just had 60 cheap bookcases made to just *test* a new design for my pa hall.. luckily, now I use a personal architect.. but if I was shopping.. i wouldn't have wanted to buy 60 bookcases individually. Don't waste us rich people's time.. sell us crates!
Managing Software Engineers is like herding cats.
