Thread: Merchant Issues Designer responses
I would just chime in, saying that none of the points listed as "fixed" are fixed.
Also, uniforms dosent work (although they DO thank You for them).
Giving a house a "shop" flag, that allows placement of "shop" furniture, would be e REALLY nice idea.
Letting the Image Designers paint houses or make advertisments for shops etc. would also be much appreciated, Im sure.
About dividing houses into public/private. The allready exists a couple of dataterminals, why not let them work? Attach one close to a door, and let that terminal have options on making the door locked, open or Codede (with an acces list).

My 2 credits:
Ad I has always worked partially for me. It has never spontaneously shut off except after server downtimes.
Ad II has recently started working for me. At first, it filtered almost everything as being "too obscene," but now it seems to be working fine.
Ad III has always worked partially for me. It also shuts off after every server downtime.
Hiring III adds one new terminal and nothing more, if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if this is intentional, and I'm not terribly upset about it, since Hiring II gives all the good NPCs anyway.
Hiring IV is completely broken. NPCs will accept clothing, thank the player, and continue wearing what they were already wearing.
NPC maintenance costs are ridiculously low (1 credit WITHOUT Efficiency), but I'm pretty sure Holo said this is being addressed.
As far as this Designer Response goes, I think vendor tents could be very cool, but I'd like to know more about them. Are they just for aesthetic purposes (i.e., a static tent outside the store to mark it as such) or will they serve a function (i.e., vendors can stand outside and bark at passers-by)?
Also, as for things I'd like to see changed, I think vendors names and planetary registration names should be seperate. I'd like to be able to give a vendor a real name, but I want my store to show up as "TekkWear Clothing" on the map, and I can't do both as it is.
I also would like to see the ability to place shop furniture, but feel it should be added to the current architect tree rather than the elite elite architect, the furnitue in 1-4 is already pretty same old .
I would LOVE to be able to make certain rooms in my house private. When I am tryin to stock my vendor and have ppl just appear infront of me demanding special orders is a pain, I would love to be able to sit in private and get my jobs done, I currently block a door with 2 crates, which works, but not exaclty SWG.
Vendor tents - hmm dont sound like I can set up a nice display in those, frankly dont like the sound of that unless it can be on my porch. But then no one will come in to look at display, maybe rather than a vendor tent advertising that we are a shop, how about we add something to the house front that SHOWS its a shop and not a house, a big banner or flag or eyecatching house sign.
We're going to add vendor tents that will help distinguish shops from housing. How does this work for you?
As another building? That has another lot cost? That need to be fitted into existing 'cities'?
No thanks if that's the case. Items on the porches you should implement for all houses. Merchants should have a few extra building signs to choose from. After that's done, tents would be a nice extra.

Tents sound pretty cool but can we set these up close to or in cities?
Can Merchants get these tents without using more lots?
How about nicer buildings with better lighting? The lighting in my shop stinks... even with torches you cannot see the colors really well inside.
Custom signs would be great...

A tent is alright if yer selln junk. Not alright if your getting afluent peeps into your abode to purchase items...no thanks. We want a specific building only merchants can drop, yes....and if you want to make it even sicker, how about only master merchants are able to utilize these buildings. I am not close to master merchant atm, but trying to avoid this hilarious post about "tents" LOL.
I sure hope the fix the vendors soon!! First my vendor was killed.. then all of the items on him that had ended were stuck, then they were deleted. the next vendor I had raw materials got stuck on it.. then deleted also.. so 70,000 credits down the drain there..... ok that must have gotten fixed in last update.. made 3 more vendors.. now they have disapeared. No help from CSR at all. I wonder if it is just my house.... maybe I built it on an ancient Gungan burial ground and it is cursed... the other stores around me are all fine. If I knew it would help I would delete the whole mess and move! but the way things have been going if I do that then my new store will disapear all together!
Developers!..... fix the bugs before making more please!
Ad 2 works, 3PO, but I have to reset it every time I log back in. I have no idea if it is working when I'm offline, but its IMPERATIVE atm for me, since my entire clothing inventory is now listed as 'unidentified object' and most people sort directly for the items they are looking for. I have my vendors barking to use the 'all' category...otherwise it looks like I have nothing on my vendors when in truth I have over 100 things on there.
Hiring 4!!!!!!!!!!!! Please please please.....dressing the vendor is really really great way to have a store unique and themed and I raced to that skillbox for that specifically. Wookiee will wear clothes, but then, he's naked to start with. All other races won't wear anything I give them, even a jewelry or head item (which I thought maybe they would since they wouldn't have to unequip their existing dress).
And if there is any fix for the unidentified object post patch, that would be great. Pity to have worked on making such a large inventory for my customers and now have unlisted when they go to look for it ![]()
3) Vendor List – An explanation of how this works is needed. Is it currently bugged?
You should see some major fixes to the Vendor List as of the last update. Once again, let us know what you think about them. J
What were the fixes? I don't even see the vendor list anymore. Is it moved? I looked on my house's structure terminal and it is no longer there. I also looked at the vendor options and don't see it there. Was removing it the fix? Would just like a little more clarification on what the Devs mean by fixed. What did they think they fixed?
Thank you, We will review.
Anything to make our shops stand out in the urban spraw would be good
I think the store tent idea is a great one.
May I suggest:
1) They only take one lot (or a fixed number based on merchant skill)
2) They are allowed to be closer to cities then other structures

I also would like to either see certain rooms able to make private or allowing a vendor in a private building. I need to be able to place custom-ordered clothing in a safe vendor that no one else can get to, except who I permit in to pick-up their clothing. No matter how explicitely I label my vendor someone is always stopping in and looking at if not buying items that weren't intended for them.
Also I really don't like the tent idea. Especially if it will take up more lots. I do like the idea of a special "shop" layout and shop furniture. Also flags or billboards on the tops of houses that will help to distinguish them from each other, with maybe a couple different styles. I also love the idea that someone had about letting image designers be able to paint buildings. That would help as well.
Anyway, just my 2 cents worth. PS--increasing housing limits would be a great help as well, allowing us to display all our wares. Right now I can only display some of them because of the 250 item limit cap. Or at least have it count all items on one manequin as 1 item instead of 3 or 4 or whatever it happens to be.
