Thread: 14 months worth of items in my vendor that is going to be removed from the game

The problem is that he can't access the vendors without the skills. Just getting artisan want be enough.

He has to get enough vendor slots for however many he has.

It looks like he has used this for good RP with a lab.

What I'd suggest is give up on Jedi. To many folks are trying for it. There cannot be enough ranked Jedi as are currently undergoing the trials on any of the servers.......

It is a choice I had to make. My main toon is Mecinia. I have no combat with her. I have never done the theme parks. And I don't want to drop anything to pick up the combat necessary to do them. Thus I have decided that I will have to pass on the Jedi ( and she is currently at surge...without any grinding )

The fastest way to get merchant xp is to sell stuff on the bazaar...sell it cheap...price don't matter you need the xp. Then get some pals together and do a congo line through an access fee building ( say 1 credit )...offer to pay your friends if they don't want to do it for free. Then have them browse your vendors every 15 minutes.

I feel for you. But the storage problem in the game isn't the same as Vendors. Vendors where used as a solution for many. But I do agree that the game storage is low considering the amount of resources crafters have to have to produce goods.

I wish you luck.

Personally, I mastered every prof in the game. Played since 3 weeks after launch. Had a jedi, main and alternate characters. Got rid of my main account and consolodated all my items into storage from the three characters on just my alternate.

I didn't use my vendors for storage but rather to sell armor that my master AS character made. All of a sudden one day I log in and I am told that the game I was playing for the past year has made a significant change that will either:

a. Force me to become a master merchant to accomadate the 1000+ items that exist on my vendors while at the same time making either drop master AS or drop my combat profession making my game totally pointless.

or b. Have those 1000 items expire making the fruits of my labor worthless.

I have no place to store these items because I am a master AS who has played the game for over a year and I simply do not have storage. SOE thinks it's fine to totally change my game experience causing me to do actual work for me to continue in the game universe. If you're a AS or WS you know how much storage you need for just resources and when this farce was thrown on me I simply decided to quit. Good decision SOE, keep alienating more players and hopefully this game will die entirely and we can put it behind us.

Well, there are inaccuracies in what you say:

* These changes did not sneak up on anyone. They've been talked about for at least a couple months (and also way... back when but I don't count that). There was no "all of a sudden" in any fashion. (If you don't check the forums and official site occasionally on any MMO, including SWG, then you created the "suddeness" on your own. These changes were much-communicated and discussed.)

* You do not need to be Master Merchant to have 1000 items. You only need a teensie bit of Merchant (Novice + not much more) to have 1000 items. Read up. So, no "forcing" Master Merchant on you.

So perhaps this isn't really as bad as you are thinking. After all, Novice Merchant + a tiny bit more is pretty far from a "forced" Master Merchant. No?

Merchant got nerfed. Deal with it.

And BTW I still don't think you got 1000 items that people would say "OMG" "Do you have any idea what this is worth?" Unless you're a big time exploiter thats just not plausable. Everyone has their gems but come on. There's only so many +25 tapes and exceptional weapons you can get.

I tired adding items to the output hopper to get 200 items per lot and it won't let me, I guess it's another new feature in this patch. It's only 100 items per factory, more if you use it to manufacture and leave the crates in the output hopper. The most storage I can achieve, while retaining one house is 1210 items.

Why I posted this was the fact that even if I have the skill points invested the 2 week rule makes being a merchant more worry some then it already is. I do not like waking up in the morning and wondering if I touched one of my vendors that was approaching the auto delete time. It's not acceptable when a game makes me worry in real life. Within the next month I will be giving up Master Merchant for good.

The biggest thing I will miss is my Laboratory that I spent hours and hours decorating and writing a full back story for. The story was told in the item description window on the NPC vendors. I will relevel Merchant like I planned but instead of keeping Master Merchant and becoming a Master Weaponsmith again, I will only be a Master Merchant for a month at most. I am giving up my dream of being a Master Weaponsmith and gave a friend who is now a Master Weaponsmith/Master Merchant 830 primo Geonosian components today. Needless to say he is quite happy, and I get free weapons for life.

Anyone that has read this far can see the venom and hatred I mentioned before. There is constant flaming of anyone that has a different opinion or problem with this profession. Look up a few posts, the level of maturity is minimal. I have had most of my posts in my post history 1 starred for posting on this forum. Every time I come to read about Merchant I run into the same people flaming away every day. I am sure I am not the only person that has avoided posting here. This has become a "don't bother posting" forum, and that leads to self destruction like what happened to the Jedi profession. When people give up posting their opinions because of constant abuse, the end result is a profession with a one sided view that eventually destroys itself from the inside out. I long ago stopped reading the Jedi forum for that reason and gave up on that profession because it self destructed. I am now giving up on Master Merchant. The only good recent change was the global map removal, all of the other changes could have been implemented in a way that would not cause so much grief and still accomplish the goal of Master Merchants selling more. What happened is the Developers took the easy road and they were applauded for doing so.

I wish you all the best of luck and I hope Merchant becomes a profession worth having some day.

Thats over 1/3 of all the items I'm allowed to have on my vendor up for sale. If you can't live with that then you seriously need to weedout some ofyour stuff.

I'm a master weaponsmith AND a master chef. If I can live with the new vendor limits and deal with the storage issues, anyone can. You were mearly contemplating becoming a master weaponsmith and came to the conclusion that it wasn't doable due to the storage limitations? These are limitations that you have put on yourself because you can't seem to manage your inventory very well. Simply the fact that you have 850 geonosian items to give away should give you a clue about where you need to start in a management plan. You can reduce that number by at least half simply by turning those items into weapons rather than have them lie around as individual components.

As far as your having to stress about ensuring that your vendors are initialized to keep them from being deleted: if your vendors aren't being accessed then you aren't selling much of anything. There are plenty of legit merchants out there with this problem that I have sympathy for. The fact that your vendors are only used for storage doesn't give me any motivation to sympathize with your problem.

As for that remark about immature attitudes on this forum, you need to seriously evaluate your level of maturity in how you handle criticism. Just like you have the right to voice your opinion, everyone else here has a right voice theirs. The fact that they disagree with you doesn't make them immature. The fact that YOU can't seem todeal with criticism makes YOU immature for projecting your shortcomings on to others.

In case you are not aware, this issue of "vendors untouched for two weeks get deleted" is unclear and unwelcome to many of us. Doc has been trying to get a clarification or response from SOE on the what's and why's of this. It has been discussed often in this forum. And I myself have chimed in my displeasure with it as a game mechanic.

IMO it's a little early to be quitting over *that* point, until we see what SOE says...

You obviously picked a bad time to "temporarily drop the needed skills". If you do not have the ability or patience to wait a bit to see how that questioned game mechanic plays out, then I guess you'll just do what you have to do. But your own actions and "planning" seems to have "brought this to a head" sooner or harder than it would otherwise be. I'm sorry, but that makes it tougher to take a completely supportive view of your position, because an impression is there that you "created" this issue by choosing this time to do that while instead of before Pub 10, or waiting until after SOE responds to it. Maybe you "had" to do it now, but then that's just really bad luck, and if you quit over it, well sorry to see you go.

Cheers,

Martek

[Edit]: BTW and FYI, I haven't rated any of your messages. I don't generally care about the ratings. Too many "one-star bandits" around, and that basically makes the ratings almost worthless.

There is nothing in his post that suggests such a thing. He could just have Business 3, with no other skillpoints left, he's willing to drop.

You're out of time, SOE The whole 2.5 months shouldn't have been. The game was fine up until Nov 15th. If the CU was worked on, instead of devoting time to the NGE (including the many months prior to November), the game could possibly be totally bug free by now.

My account cancels on 2nd Feb, which was a waste as only played game for 1 day to get the life day gifts, will be resubbing when creature handler, Bio-engineer, scout, and ranger return, oh and the FS village.

Everything in his post suggests exactly that. Especially the part about mastering every profession. Holo-grinding Jedi whores do exactly that and use and abuse merchant.

The dev's have v a l i d a t e d merchant. Please remove your head from the s a n d.

He also states that he has a Jedi, a main and alternate. Jedi + main = one account. Alternate = 2nd account.

My first account I did Master Artisan, Master DE and Master Merchant, and it stayed that way, and that character virtually stayed at home crafting Droids and tending to vendors and has not many badges at all whilst2nd account did the hologrinding. I had Master Merchant AND did hologrinding. So there!

...that may have been the case with two accounts.. but you are daft if you think it is after he 'consolidated'.
