Thread: POLL: Do you sell your own goods, or goods of others?
1.How many boxes of "merchant" do you currently have?
3-4-4-4
2. How many advanced crafting classes (thiscan include anynon-novice class where you craft goods and sell them)do you and/or your "alts" play in addition to merchant?
Master Architect, no alts.
3. As a merchant, roughly what percentage of your sales come from you selling things that others (besides yourself and your "alts") have crafted?
0%
4. Assuming that you (at whatever level of merchant you are) had a vendor cap limit of 300 items per vendor, and the "tools" for running a vendor were beefed up significantly, how likely would you be to actively pursue the selling of other crafter's goods? (unlikely / neutral / very likely)?
Unlikely (for a close friend only)
Thanks again
You're welcome. Good poll.
1.How many boxes of "merchant" do you currently have? None, anymore.Dumped it because I felt it was a waste of points
2. How many advanced crafting classes (thiscan include anynon-novice class where you craft goods and sell them)do you and/or your "alts" play in addition to merchant? Master Tailor, alt w/ 0044 Merchant (and climbing), Master Artisan
3. As a merchant, roughly what percentage of your sales come from you selling things that others (besides yourself and your "alts") have crafted? None, ever
4. Assuming that you (at whatever level of merchant you are) had a vendor cap limit of 300 items per vendor, and the "tools" for running a vendor were beefed up significantly, how likely would you be to actively pursue the selling of other crafter's goods? (unlikely / neutral / very likely)? Unlikely
I say "unlikely" because 80% of mycrafting is either for friends, walk-ups when I'm in Theed, or large special orders that I deliver in person. The rest is a small stock of standard bio-engineered accessories (bandoliers, loot-drop schematic items, etc.). Maybe that'll change in the future. But with the currently proposed vendor limits (and even if they ARE bumped to 300 items per) I don't see how a Merchant could handle more than two or three active Tailors. Aside from the "all black Neo-wannabe" outfits, everything we make needs to be hand-crafted and custom colorized. I just dont see any Merchants willing to take on a stock of several dozen items, in multiple colors, and hold onto it waiting for it to sell.
Maybe the more in-demand items - armor, weapons, stims, brandy - things that move quickly, would work. But I can go for over a week with next to no business, then *boom* I'm flooded for a day or two.

I keep reading all this garbage about the "merchant" class and how they will be affected by this and that, and this is my attempt to see if such people really exist, and if so, in what numbers. So very simple poll. Please, no discussion (or else your vote won't count... I mean it) just simply answer "yes" or "no" or whatever the questions asks for, and if you can't answer it or it doesn't apply to you, please just use n/a.
And yes, I realize that I'm not accounting for looters and miners in this poll. This is really meant to determine the relationship between "elite" crafters and merchants.
Thank you for your participation.
1.How many boxes of "merchant" do you currently have?
Master Merchant
2. How many advanced crafting classes (thiscan include anynon-novice class where you craft goods and sell them)do you and/or your "alts" play in addition to merchant?
None (I am a Master Doctor as well as a merchant but have never crafted a med in my life - I buy stims and buff packs)
3. As a merchant, roughly what percentage of your sales come from you selling things that others (besides yourself and your "alts") have crafted?
About 50% of sales volume on a per item basis, but only about 10% of profit.
Though, hmm, the faction stuff is hard to put into a category since I purchase it from a smuggler team and then resell with a small markup. If I include that then probably 80% of sales and profit from things that I get from others. Including loot that I buy from others and resell.
The rest of what I sell is resources that I harvest myself.
4. Assuming that you (at whatever level of merchant you are) had a vendor cap limit of 300 items per vendor, and the "tools" for running a vendor were beefed up significantly, how likely would you be to actively pursue the selling of other crafter's goods? (unlikely / neutral / very likely)?
Unlikely with a cap of only 300 per vendor, and I would have to drop the furniture contract I currently have, as well as cut back on resources and loot. Give me a cap of 500+ and then I will have room to keep what I have and to expand.
Depending on the tools added, I may actively pursue more contracts.
Thanks again
