Thread: mercahnt banned -- why me ? no email from soe
I'll consider that a compliment compared to everything else you have said in this thread so far. You have disagreed with absolutely everyone in this thread, and insulted everyone as well in the way you reply. Your logic and explanations are beyond reproach. You make do makegood arguments, you just need to use a bit more tact you know? Have you wondered why you have a 1.5 star average rating on your posts? I won't feed you anymore. Considering the SOE employee I spoke to today said he felt that they should have explained the banning process better, I think my views are still valid. Enjoy quoting this and picking it apart.

Fantastic.
Since you're not kicking your heels or throwing a tantrum, it's safe to assume the comment wasn't directed at you then, eh?

Just like in RL, where people get arrested while the crime is looked into, SOE are banning *everyone* involved in the chain of duped credits while they sort the scumbags from the innocents.
Ok Just to calm this wave. We all want to believe SOE wiLL seperate the good from the bad in this, but where has it been stated by any "Red name" that these may be temporary bans? I have not seen any post by mods or devs about a tempoary ban. However I did see the orginal post about credit dupe and I was even online in game when the post was sent out through system message (got this message like I got First Jedi and Malicious site message).
Basically Brilyn I am asking for a message link about tempoary bans while they investigate so I can read up on their side. Please provide me this information so I may look into it.
Thanks

You are right. You can't. You could only suspect something was going on if someone started throwing around money at an alarming rate or asking you to help them move credits around to different characters. Other than that you have no way of knowing.
Email to [email protected] or call tech support at 858 790 STAR. They could also go to the website and do live webchat with Tech Support.

In the link I already posted (in this thread) it states (keyword emboldened by me):
"We are suspending the accounts of these players and banning anyone who has participated in this "money dupe", which includes transferring or receiving of funds/credits. "
Suspend = temporary
And that reads to say they are suspending people who have duped and banning anyone who has received funds, which is the concern of this topic.
No-one is asking about what happens to dupers, we're merchants here concerned about what happens to merchants who unwittingly receive duped funds.
By your own claim you're not stupid, so why deliberately mis-interpret a quote, do you have that litle respect for the intelligence of others? Actually, going by the tone of your posts I think that yes, you do.
"A credit dupe has surfaced. We are aware of it, and have put a solution in place.
We know who was involved in this credit counterfeiting - - We log everyone's financial transactions, including WHO AND WHERE THE MONEY IS TRANSFERRED TO.
Please be careful and REFUSE receiving any large sums of money/credits from anyone.
We are suspending the accounts of these players and banning anyone who has participated in this "money dupe", which includes transferring or receiving of funds/credits.
If you know of a Player or PA Hall that has received these funds, PLEASE DO NOT attempt to retrieve any of this money... this will flag your account as being involved in bannable activities. We are going to delete the houses of anyone who has participated in these activities.
We take this extremely seriously, and will go to great lengths to protect your play experience. "
Hell, I was gonna break down the phrasing, but why bother?
You're just going to whine some more.
It's pretty damn obvious to me from the above statement, that they are going to suspend *everyone* who received laundered credits. They will then check to see if you were/are one of the scumbags. If you are one of the scumbags, you get banned.
No, it doesn't spell that out in the above warning. It assumes a basic level of sense, and comprehension.
Storm + Teacup = this thread.
< And that reads to say they are suspending people who have duped and banning anyone who has received funds >
Yes, because it makes sense to treat the patsies worse than the dupers?
If it doesn't make sense in *your* head, why oh why do you think it would make sense in SOE's head?
< so why deliberately mis-interpret a quote, >
What am I misinterpreting? Or am I not simply assuming that SOE will moronically ban everyone who ever touched a duped credit, so therefore I'm 'deliberately mis-interpreting a quote'?
< do you have that litle respect for the intelligence of others? >
No, as I have implied in one of my above posts, I simply have no respect for people who can't post coherently.
Reading:
"We are suspending the accounts of these players and banning anyone who has participated in this "money dupe", which includes transferring or receiving of funds/credits. "
and getting:
"And that reads to say they are suspending people who have duped and banning anyone who has received funds "
is, frankly, insane.
I mean, the worst you could interpret it, and still maintain coherency, is to take " banning anyone who has participated in this "money dupe"" out of context to mean they are going to systematically ban everyone involved in duping.
Why do you think they are only going to suspend the people who actually performed the duping? Where theheck does it say *that*?

I am an armorsmith and I have had my goods fairly priced since I opened shop.
A) I have been saving money, spending on some resources here and there but mostly letting it pile up. Recently one of the major original armorsmiths quit the business and put a lot of the high quality old resources up for auction. A few other people also cleaned out their inventories and discovered some really nice stuff which they put up for auction. I'm sure my HUGE credit spending sprees (while very nearly emptying my bank) could have sent flags all over. BUT, it was from months of accumulation.
B) I have good quality merchandise and it is never unusual for someone to purchase 2-3 suits (so they can get a single sliced suit they want). Yet, 2-3 suits is 600-1 mil credits or more. People -always- throw credits at my vendor at an alarming rate. I also have people who will buy for an entire guild, again, LOTS of credits.
C) I have an alt, I will tip her large sums of money to go buying for me sometimes. My boyfriend has 2 characters, one of them is the merchant (master), she tips me or him on a frequent basis, large sums of money. My character is married in-game and her hubby will buy things for her (armorsmithing things) or the guild (looted stuff mostly) and so he, too, gets tips of large sums of money.
I'm not banned.... yet. My boyfriend's 2 characters are not banned.... yet. My character's husband is not banned.... yet. I don't know if my alt is (she bank tipped a couple docs for buffs recently) since I haven't logged her in today.
This is bloody scarey!!
For all the operators out there I know you are taking this time to prepare for the coming rush. It’s going to be like a friggin holiday out there when this is cleared out. I for one am using the time to get some factory runs of the vehicles done and trying to decided what clothing items I am going to mess about with. I have always been such flake with my clothing and I need to get serious with it. I might even redecorate my shop or drop down a new one period. If you are not preparing now you better get on the ball. Use this time to clean out some of the crap resources that you have by making some cheap items or by packaging it at to sell prices. If you have something in stock that is not moving at all think about changing your price points. This is the quiet before the storm folks. People like to spend their money for various reasons. Need, want, desire, envy, and pride are all lubricants of the engine of commerce. If those are locked up for any amount of time then a nice little explosion is on the other side.
