From the first days of Shipwright, immediately after I Master - Mind you, at this point people are making chassis for about 10cpu:

Customer: oh hey, you're a Master Shipwright! Cool - Can you make me a ship?

Me: Most likely if I have the resources - Which ship do you want?

Customer: Well, I'm an Imp 2/2/1/2.. What can I fly?

Me: *Looks info up to be nice, Explain what he can fly*

Customer: But I really want to fly an X-Wing!

Me: You'd have to be a Rebel to do that.

Customer: Oh.. How about one of those Rixxikkkk things?

Me: That would be freelance - you can only fly Imperial ships.

Customer: oh - Ok, I want a TIE whatever

Me: Ok - that'll be xxxx creds - I only charge 3cpu.

Customer: Oh, this guy over here sells them for 10k

Me: *Knowing the person he's talking about* no he doesn't. He makes starter ships for that, not a tier 2 ship.

Customer: Oh, OK - Better have great mass!

Me: Make the ship, make the deal, go off our seperate ways.

2 days later -

Customer: Dude, you ripped me off!

Me: And how did I do that?

Customer: There were no parts in that ship you sold me!

Me: *Explains that I only made him a chassis*

Customer: oh - And my friend tells me HIS ship has 500k mass!.

Me: Listen. I made you a ship at the best price around. I used the best resources I have. I maxxed the amount of Mass. You can't get that or ANY ship except Master ships up to 500k mass. if you don't like the ship, redeed it, give it to me, and i'll give your money back..

Customer: You suck - you ripped me off - And I don't trust you to give me my money!

Customer then sits in Coronet and spams for about an hour about the bad deal. Actually states the mass ofthe ship and my price. At the end of the hour, I have received about 50 tells for the ship. Tell them my WP, and I make a ton of sales. Send a tell to my Customer thanking him for all the business...

Customer: OMG those n00bs bought from you anyway?!?!?

Moral of the story - Even idiots can help you make sales.

I made Master Shipwright on Chimaera about four days after JTL was release in Europe. Boy was THAT a big mistake. Hardly anyone had any clue about what the quality of JTL ships and components should be like (and that includes the shipwrights) so naturally everyone just assumed they were the experts. And then the tells started. I didn't advertise because I intended to just produce stock for my guild, but word soon got around. On any given day I could count on getting at least a tell every two minutes, despite any AFK messages I set up telling people that dogfighting A-Wings in Kessel didn't leave me much room to type replies to their questions asking if I could drop everything and rush to Lok/Dant/Tat to reverse engineer their new engine for them. And then find out they didn't have a clue how reverse engineering worked and needed another 6 engines to get it done. Aaaargh!!

So I dropped Shipwright as soon as I made my Firesprays and haven't regretted it for a second. The money was amazing but it just wasn't worth the /tell hell. Now with Weaponsmith I get a different class of dumbass customers. I actually don't mind their questions after living through the hell that was Shipwright. My favourite example was...

Customer - Hi, I've got a Beserker Rifle schematic, can you make me a Beserker Rifle with it?
Me - Sure, but I've already got one damage sliced in stock at my vendor. Why don't you check it out and i'll do you a discount if you trade in your schematic?
Customer - No, I want you to make me one with MY schematic.
Me - Words fail me.

More amusing than annoying, really. If that's the worst I have to put up with I'll be a happy Weaponsmith.

Customer Tell: can u make me a power thingy
Me: A power... thingy. What type of thingy? Fusion harvesters? Power Conditioners? Power droid? ...
Customer: a power harvester
Me: Wind, solar or fusion?
Customer: whats a step up from windmill
Me: Solar
Customer: k
Customer: how much are fusions?
Customer: fusion generators how much are they
Me: Solars X amount. Fusions Y amount.
Customer: faints
Customer: omg Y amount
Customer: wanna make a discount if i give u some power lol
Customer: make me a solar plz u got none
Me: At Y amount for a fusion, that is a mere 5.5cpu for resource cost which I think is a fair price for something that takes up to six factory runs and resources that can be up to 5cpu to purchase.
Me: Certainly, they are X amount each.
Me: How many would you like?
Customer: if i get u the resources wanna make a discount?
Customer: o
Customer: um
Customer: one for now
customer: ill be at ur store
Me: It will be a few minutes while I put it together.
Customer: sure no prob
Customer: i might go an artisan profession
Customer: which do u think i should go

... ... ...

Because, and only because this is a regular customer, did he not get added to my addignore list. While making solar power generators, we had a lively discussion on the states of the various artisan professions and why or why not to choose each of them. His two favorite at that time was armoursmithing and architecture. After I told him exactly how much profit each of our items can generate and the amount of resources one can go through to make that small profit margin, he decided against it. I think he settled on chef or armoursmithing.

This was a recent ID customer, but it's relevant here.

A customer of mine who had gotten some work done before was on the way to my shop. He had been a bit borderline offensive before, but I attributed it to a misunderstanding. On the way to the shop we were having a conversation about a party we had both gone to, at which we had both been made to feel uncomfortable by the overly suggestive emotes of certain entertainers. However, this customer started telling me that because I didn't immediately leave the party, that I "liked it." I started becoming annoyed and told him to think what he wanted.

So he gets to my house with his in-game wife and starts being increasingly rude, at which point I sent him a tell "why are you being so rude" and he responds "because I am an a**hole." And I said "excuse me?" and he responded "because. I. am. an. a**hole."

"That's too bad" I said, and banned him from my shop, before I had done any ID work on him. He started cursing when he realized what had happened. I turned to his wife and apologized for making her come all the way to my shop for nothing. "I suggest a divorce" I said. "Don't tempt me," she responded.

Now on the other hand I once met a wookie in Mos Entha and he was admiring my back pack. I told him I could make him one and named a price. He said reluctantly that he had to pass because he was just off the shuttle from the spacestation and he didn't have much money. But he would look me up some other time. For some reason I decided to give him a backpack. He thanked me and offered to trade me some newbie item or two for it. I declined and said to him that if he should ever see a down an out twi'lek merchant in the street of Mos Entha in the future he should offer him shuttle fare home. He laughed and said he would. Two weeks later in Anchorhead in walks the wookie still wearing his backpack, Thanking me for it and paying me the price I had quoted two weeks earlier. (Unfortunately a server crash ended our chat and I haven't seen him since but THAT was a nice experience)

I remember that wookiee. That was Coacah. I was there, when it happened.

(Paraphrased from numerous conversations)

Customer: Hi, do you sell hide/meat/bones?

Me: Sure do. What are you using it for?

Customer: Just grind.

Me: Check this vendor here, I can break up big stacks if you need.

Customer: Wow. That's too expensive.

Me: It's 5 cpu...

Customer: Yeah, even high end steel only sells for 4 or 5 cpu. And this is nowhere near as good. I'll give you 2 cpu.

Me: >.<

(Or)

Customer: I just need some good wooly.

Me: Check this vendor here, it's in 10k stacks.

Customer: Holy crap! 25 cpu?

Me: ...

Customer: ...

Me: That's cheap. It's really good stuff,900/800.

Customer: It's like, way too much. High end steel is only 5 cpu.

- - -

I think people don't realize that harvesting creatures is not the same as mechanical harvesting. One person can easily get 100k in a day without spending more than the time it takes to check on your harvs. It can take a week or more to get 100k of hide, meat or bone. And they insist that 900/900 creature resources should be no more than 5 cpu...

Well after reading this all and getting a laugh riot out of the thread. And making me feel much much better... I decided I'd post about this little gem. Not word for word but it's close enough.

Random Guy: Hi

Me: Heya

Random Guy: Are you an armormsith

Me: Yep. What's up?

Random Guy: I need an armor paintkit

<mental sound of carcrash> .oO(Oh well he's new I'll be nice)

I then politely and in detail explain that there are no armor paint kits and that he is probably getting it confused with composite armor which you actualy can change the colour on once its made. And I even explain to him how to go about doing that with composite etc.

Random Guy: Yes you can! My friend had a composite suit and changed their armor colours blah blah blah blah

me: Yes and as I explained that can only be done with composite armor. You cant do that with any other armor type.

Random Guy: Ok obviously you dont know anything.

me: Look dude I'm telling you. I spent a month grinding AS. And I'm also a master artisan. There's bike paint kits, droid paint kits, ship paint kits. But there is no such thing as an armor paint kit. Though there have been requests for such things, they simply dont exit.

Random Guy: Shut the ***** up you N00B you dont know what your ***** talking about.

bit more 'discussion' and he starts spamming me with NERD and NOOB etc. So on the ignore list he goes along with a complaint logged against him.

Only the second guy I ever /ignored. The other was some rip off guy that'd go around with novice brawler etc tags and claim he was poor. Then turn around and sell stuff for millions o the trade forums.

LMAO

Oh my god that is some funny stuff, brings back some terribly horrifying memories though.

Walking around with Master Doctor tag on

Customer: Can you buff?

Me: Well I'm not buffing at the moment but I guess I could do one real quick

Customer: Ok I'll take a set

Me: Ok I charge 8k for all six stats

Customer: What are the stats

(I click my macro listing the buff stats)

Customer: OMG 8k for those [insert other name here] sells for the same price and his are 20 minutes longer

Me: Well he must be much better than me at gathering the resources, I can't let them go for any lower than that

Customer: Well I just started 2 days ago, and I only got 5500 credits on me

Me (being a sucker): Well since your new I guess I can do it for 5k, you will make that back in a couple of destroy missions.

Customer: Well I still need to buy a new gun and some other things on the bazaar can you just do it for free and I'll pay you back later when I do the missions?

Me: I don't mean to be rude but I really can't be just giving stuff away it costs me too much to make it

Customer: But I just started and I can't even do mission without buffs can't you just do it

(ignore him)

Customer: Come on just do it so I can run some missions

(ignore him)

Customer: You are just greedy, you're a doctor you're supposed to help people, they don't charge for healing in [insert name of other game here]

(send him a tell explaining why I'm adding him to my ignore list)

Got a rip-off artist good.....not verbatum, from memory of the log, but it is close...ish.

One of my guildies was running around with a freind in Mos Espa. He and She are both Master Smugglers. She is by the bazaar terminal, he is by the shuttleport (south port)

falsen00b walks up He is wearing n00b clothes and a green droid.

falsen00b: Hey, can you slice a weapon for me? Someone gave it to me, and told me to go get it sliced. They said it would make it uber.

slicelady sends tell to sliceguy : this seems fishy

sliceguy to slicelady: yea, I'm going to play along though

sliceguy: I'm guessing your looking for a free slice, right?

falsen00b: Actually, yea, if its not too much trouble. I'm brand new so I don't have much cash.

sliceguy: Sure, pass it over.....

slicelady sends tell to sliceguy: check out his bio

the guy has3 badges, including master weaponsmith

sliceguy sends tell to slicelady: im going to have fun with this guy.

The trade begins...sure enough, it is a DE-10, a nice one too. He sends a tell to slicegirl to go grab one of our dead DE-10's fromher guild hall. It is only about 1500 meters from the city. She rushes off.

Trade is made, sliceguy keeps talking.

sliceguy: ok, this is going to take a minute. I have to make the stuff I need to slice it...so, how long have you been playing?

falsen00b: I just started today. This game rocks! everyone is so nice.

sliceguy: did you design this toon yourself?

falsen00b: what is a toon?

sliceguy: your character, did you design this character yourself? I like the face, you did a good job.

falsen00b: Thanks! It took me a while to figure it out. So, is that a good gun?

sliceguy had this guy already. trying to pull free slices. time to have fun.

sliceguy: not really. The best pistol in the game is the Power5 pistol.

falsen00b: thats BS man, I know for a fact that is the best pistol there is. Your trying to rip me off.

sliceguy: Oh really...and how do you know that?

Meanwhile, slicegirl returns with the dead DE-10, trades it to sliceguy. She scurries back over to the vendor to watch the fun.

falsen00b: the guy who gave it to me told me...i want my pistol back.

sliceguy: how do you know he wasnt lying to you?

falsen00b: [some rather inventive expletives]

sliceguy: ok, I already sliced it. Trade with me.

Sends him the dead DE-10.....guy has a coronary.

sliceguy: hey, the slice failed, thats what happens sometimes. It ruins the gun...

falsen00b goes on a tirade about how he knows thats BS, all the friends he has, reports he is going to file, etc.

sliceguy: trade jackoff.

sliceguy gives falsen00b his real pistol back. After some colorful exchanges, he makes his exit, and turns it over to slicegirl...

slicegirl: that guy was nasty.

falsen00b: yea, he tried to rip me off.

falsen00b notices the MS tag on her, since she just put it up.

falsen00b: hey, can you slice a pistol for me?

slicegirl: sure hun, how many do you have, I will pay you 2000 per slice.

falsen00b: really? I have three pistols. I got them as a gift. Can you slice them all?

slicegirl: sure thing hun. Trade.

Needless to say her guild got 3 nice DE-10's that day. Turns out this was this guys MO...he would cruise for smugglers to slice his uber weapons for free and then sell them off. God only knows where he was getting them from. When I read the transcript I laughed so hard my sides hurt for an hour. Word was in the end he was banned for credit duping. Poetic justice.
