Always buy the melons. They are a rare comodity now you know!
A regular customer I'll buy low priced trade in stuff from. Someone I don't know gets that crap returned to them.
wow, hes actually right, melons are extremely rare.

I'm a DE/merchant. A low level DE/merchant. As we all know merchant xp is hard to come by after the last patch. I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone, and make everybody happy. I have to grind through droids like crazy to get myself up to a point in DE where I can actually make something useful. Rather than just destroy them or practice, I set up a free droid vendor. Just go into my shop, pay the 1cr access fee, and buy an R4, R5, Treadwell or DZ70 for 1cr.I get Droid and Merchant XP, everybody else gets a free droid so people can stop complaining about "star warsyness".
The other night I'm in my shop making droids and I heard somebody come in. The vendors all barked their ads at him and I got a couple new mails when he bought droids. Then he came to the back of my shop where I was working.
"Can I have some batteries?"
"They're for sale on the Ithorian in the next room"I told him.
"But I want some free ones"
I explained how batteries give general XP, not droid XP. I explained how low level droids are worthless and I make no money off them so I give them away and sell the batteris. It's an old marketing gimmick, but heck it works. Just like giving away razors and selling the blades.
"But I want free ones"
I refused and went back to work. He didn't leave. He began talking to my vendors. He had a good 3 minute conversation with my Aqualish seeker droid vendor discussing all sorts of different topics. He asked my vendor about how I treated him, and then started asking my vendor if he'd rather go hunting with him than stay in my shop. This went on a good 10 minutes, talking to my vendors and bugging me about letting the vendor go hunting with him.
Either he was really bored or really high. I don't know which one. I would have just banned him, but it was amusing for a little while. Finally I asked if he'd go away if I gave him free batteries.
Two stacks of batteries later, he's riding away from my shop, happy as a clam. He saved himself 250cr for 10 minutes worth of talking to vendors.
As soon as player bounties are a reality, he's first on my hit list.

this is my favorite one, that happens all the time.
I tend to sell stuff at breakeven prices, in order to get merchant xp, and thus FS senses xp.
Random Merchant: What is the deal with your (any item)?
Me: Dunno, what do you mean by "the deal"
Random Merchant: Well everyone else in the galaxy is selling colthing attachments (or any other item) for 1500000 and you are selling them for 1000, you are ruining the market!
Me: Well, according to the powers that be, I can sell them for 1 cred if I want. I sell it cheap because I want the Merch XP. Plus it is called Free Enterprise, look it up.
Random Merchant: Never mind, you are an idiot.
Me: But I am an idiot with lots of merch XP.
Random Merchant: F#$%^ off.
Me: Thanks, and you as well.
Happens about three times a week. Gets really annoying.

Heheheh I have to start doing this now when people ask me for money. Of course, it would require more effort on my part than my normal reply of "try doing some missions." But it might help alleviate some boredom one of these nights.

Dude 2: Can you give me 30k so I can buy Armorsmith stuff.
Me: No, I won't give you the money, but I will give a waypoint to a location where you can get the money very easily.
Dude 2: Really? There is a place that will give me credits?
Me: Yup. Go to this location.
Dude 2: Cool. Thanks.
<5 minutes later>
tell from Dude 2> I'm at the waypoint. It is in Mos Eisley and there is nothing here.
Me: Sure there is. What is against the wall of the building you are at?
Dude 2: Well I see a mission terminal.
Me: That's right. Have fun!
I'm not master tailor yet, but I am soooo looking forward to my first dodgy customer when I finally get there.
The other day I was traveling around and took the shuttle from my town to Coronet starport, before I finish loading in a hear a tell.
-
random guy: hey could you make me a medical droid. -
me: sure any chassis preference? -
random guy: a medical droid, whatever is best. -
me: surgical droid ok for you? -
random guy: sure.
I begin crafting, and he starts doing what looks like a caffeine induced seizure with this mouse.
2 minutes later
-
random guy: you done yet? -
me: no, but almost done. -
random guy: ok cool (continues seizure) -
me: shoot I'm out of memory modules. -
random guy: where you get those from. -
me: factory runs. I got more at home, I be right back. -
random guy: ok, ill wait outside starport -
me: ok

-
random guy: hey you got my droid done yet -

random guy: ok

-
random guy: hey is my droid done yet -

random guy: aright I'm still at starport

-
me: ok I'm heading back to coronet -
random guy: sweet, I will be out front of starport.
get to coronet and traded the guy the droid and a crate of 2 4 charge batteries. then set back to watch him program his droid, ahh vengeance is sweet.
After thinking about it I wish I put a stupid chip in instead. ![]()
