hahaha...this thread needs to be closed and deleted. If it is an exploit, im sure we will all be banned and dealt with accordingly. Just a thought...does not a politician have the ability to PLACE certain civic structures? Do those structures disappear if he drops politician, or another lower ranked politician takes over mayoral duties? Nope. Oh and certain professions have the ability to PLACE city structures such as cantinas, med centers, theatres, etc. Do these structures go poof if these players drop their professions? Nope. As far as I know (and have experienced) these structures all remain. Why then shouldnt a merchant tent that is PLACED by a merchant stay if they choose to drop that skill? Why then shouldnt a vendor PLACED by a merchant remain if dropped? Maybe they should just delete all the civic structures, merchant tents, and vendors since they all must be exploits. They couldnt have actually meant PLACE was the ability!

Oh and the guy that is having the lil EXPLOIT tantrum...perhaps people might take you seriously, and you wouldnt be such a joke if you presented yourself in a more mature manner and actually made some **edit**ING sense.

Ugh. I don't even want to see how the lot issues surfaced. It is not an issue.

No merchant = No vendors. Plain and simple. You want vendors? Pony up the skill points. Too many folks want skills for free, but that is just human nature shining through. If you do not want to put up the skill points forvendors of your own, then you will need to seriously think of wholesaling your goodsto a Merchant.

Comparing Merchant to Politician structures is a stretch. Compare it to CH...I could have awesome pets as a master, but if I detrain CH, I have pets I cannot use. Just Clutter on my data pad. Detrain merchant? Then your vendor can sit there and NOT operate (if it does not go *poof*).

The nonmerchant class is quite vocal on our merchant board regarding ourskills and their ability to use them without a skill point lay out. I hope this is noted by the Powers-That-Be.

Well this argument isn't really an argument at all. It's very simple:

Most of the people using semantics and literal interpretations of flawed or outdatedskill descriptionsaresaying that the management tree allows merchants to "place" vendors, and that they should be able to keep these vendors after dropping the "placement" skills. These are the people who wish to continue exploiting a flawed game design. Therefore, their opinion that they should keep their vendors only reinforces the need to correct the flawed design. The more they argue their case, the more it helps the case of non-exploiting merchants. Good job, guys! Keep up the good work!

The bottom line is, it's called the "Management" tree for a reason. It is implied that you use the skills of the management tree to MANAGE your vendors, not just "place" them. Therefore, it is logical that if you drop the management skills, you should no longer be able to manage the vendors. A good swift kick in the pants to the vendor exploiters would be to disallow their use of the vendor menus without having the management skill boxes: they would no longer be able to place items for sale or retrieve items, and they would no longer be able to pay maintenance on the vendor, so eventually it would decay to 0% and the vendor would "get fed up and quit", taking all of the remaining items with them. Of course, I'm just being spiteful here, and this would probably never happen, but oh the justice it would serve! Actually, this sort of thing may actually happen, because I'm sure they would give plenty of warning before implementing a system like this, so all of the vendor exploiters would have time to empty out their vendors, or re-gain the management skills required to keep them.

Since merchant experience is extremely passive (you don't have to actually *do* anything to get it, it comes in on it's own for the most part), then it's a simple matter to gain the skills to "place" vendors and then just drop the skills to free up the skill points. The statement has been around forever: No other class allows a player to retain it'sbenefits after dropping the skillsrequiredto*have* and *maintain* (notobtain, not learn, not "place", etc.)said benefits. If this doesn't sound like an exploit to you, then you're probably the type of person that would exploit it.

The merchant class could have a lot of things changed to make it more enjoyable and useful. Fixing the vendor exploit is one of those things, so it should be a no-brainer. Ironically, the people with no brains are the ones arguing to leave it broken. Funny, that.

Has anyone ever asked the Devs what exactly was meant by "Place". Perhaps their meaing of place includes management of said vendor. If it does, then Atikus has no leg to stand on. Just because the word "management" isn't in there it is in the title of the skill. Therefore one would have to look at "Place" and say it was meant to inlcude "Management".Personally, I think it sucks that someone can pick up Merchant, go all the way through it, master it and then drop all of it and retain all of thier vendors and "benefits" they recieved while being a Merchant. (Their vendors should disappear from the map and they should become inopperable, only the owner would have rights to it and he/she should be given 7 days to remove the contents of the vendor before it goes PUFF)

As a Master Doctor, I can buff people and make buffs but as soon as I dump the skill, I can no longer use the buffs I made. Merchant should be the same way.

Like I said, we need a definate on what exactly was meant by the word "Place".

"The bottom line is, it's called the "Management" tree for a reason."

Do you people even play the game?

There is a skill tree in the carbine profession called couhnter-insurgency.

Do you think the skills contained in that skill tree have anything to do with "counter insurgency"????? Do you think they get a skill mods for tracking, identifying, or otherwise "countering" insurgents, as the name so obviously implies???

Come on dude, the tree names are completely arbitrary and that is obvious to anyone who even briefly looks them over. The only thing that matters regarding skill mods is the actual documentation of the skills themselves.

In this case the documenation is clear as day.

But if by "place" the devs meant "manage" then fine, let them say so, let them change the way the skill works and we can all be happy. But dont you find it the least bit funny that the skill works EXACTLY as it is described? Huh?????? Maybe thats the way they originally intended it to work?

Ok this debate is over. The devs told us thatpeople keeping vendorsisnt intended so stop talkin about it. Just to make sure you get it this time im gonna repost this again:

"5. Currently it is possible to give up practically all of your merchant
skills without having to give up the vendors that you received as a benefit
of those skills.

We would like to see some suggested changes that would address this
situation. We agree in principle that Merchant Skills should not be
surrendered without the loss of the benefits of those skills"

The reading comprehension problems on display here were intriguing on page 2, funny on page 4, sad on page 8 and now they are just downright scary.

You are the one who keeps posting it Yolner, ya'd think you would be able to comprehend it.

Nowhere in that dev response do they say what you have been claiming they do. They never say it was not intended, they never say it is not currently intended, they do not say it isnt working as it should.... all they are saying there is that they agree with the idea in "principle". That means just that... they agree with the idea in "principle"

But there are clear examples in game where they go against this principle because it makes more sense for the totality of the game.

Look up what agreeing in "principle" means, and how it is used - try to comprehend it.

I guess if you cant even understand the word "place", it is too much to expect you to understand what agreeing in "principle" means.

Here is a bit of help for you though - Usage: "I agree in principle that every American should have comprehensive health care and pay no taxes, however, the reality of our budget does not allow this"

The person making that statement agrees in principle with something, but it doesnt mean he can or will do anything about it, or that the way things are now working are not the way he intended them to be.

Yolner says - You know whatassclown the devs never said anything about lot trading ...

I don't believe it. Yolner is one of the biggest proponents crying nerf, and come to find out he is a blatant cheater using an exploit for lot trading. Jesus and you are here to preach to us about cheating, exploiting, and calling for nerfs? You are adisease on the entire Merchant class, and yet you stand tall screaming for nerfs.

What are you, about twelve years old? Go play your game and continue to cheat in ways you have convinced yourself are just peachy, and leave the rest of us the hell alone.

Cheater.

Loser.

You are exactly the kind of tiddy-baby I referred to when I said I was ashamed to be associated with as a Master Merchant.

Why dont you shut your mouth you little **edit**. The devs said in plain english that cross server trading is not an exploit.

Just because you call something an exploit doesnt make it one. The devs said the vendor exploit is an exploit and cross server trading isnt.Just shut the hell up
