I would be happy if they left out the price searchingfield and putprice back in details, and left in the remote buying option. I think the devs are only going to do one or the other, because they want to make both sides happy (it didn't work very well though). Or, if the devs ever make merchant a no-point proffesion, they should give merchants free skillpoints equal to the amount they used for merchant. The skillpoints could be used straightaway and you could use them to get any box in any profession, without grinding it (as long as you have the prerequisites).

Call me crazy but I'd like to see how this works on live without others intentionally sabotaging the effort. Especially if they are the correspondent for my profession.

Does this really call for taking everyone else's ball and going home?

Not at all. Our Correspondent is NOT suggesting that we try to dog the system on purpose - Rather, the suggestion is that we all USE the system as it was intended. Not only list one vendor with high prices, and leave the rest OFF the system with the good prices, which to me WOULD be trying to defeat the system.

A lot of us said that the system on a Live server would be cumbersome. We were told not to worry. So, let's add in ALL our vendors to the system, and let's see who was right.. That's the basic meaning.

my 10 gals will be added, so put me down for about 3k of clothing being shoved on the bazaar for people to search thru by pages.

Oh and I can't wait to hear
"I spent 4 hrs driving around looking for something but look what I found on this one vendor"
change into

"I spent all day standing here and I think I forgot what I was even looking for"

Poking vendors allowed for aggrevation yes, when you hit those advertised empty vendors, but it lead way to some great finds.

Peeking at the bazaar..well all I see is someone banging their head against the keyboards for awhile to be honest.

When I made the great finds, it was always when I was just plain shopping. I do this quite often, when solo. It was either this, or when I go to pick something up, I wander around checking out vendors. If I'm looking for something specific, and I don't know where to look, I don't stop to look around. This new system still has that, since we have to go out to the stores to actually pick anything up.

Now, speaking as a merchant, I do *not* like the fact that we don't need any Advertising skill to list our vendors. Nor do I like the inadequate categories. However, as both a shopper and a merchant, I'd rather have this system than none at all, to both avoid the 5-hour useless searches, and to get my vendors (and those like mine, outside the 1.5k circle sprawl around Coronet and Theed) noticed.

I think your point about this is very valid. What is ironic about it is that vendors list oldest created/looted stuff first. So it's the new, hopefully improved products that merchants offer that will be listed down on page 28.

Ah well...we get rid of the old stock I guess.

Well, it is broken as implmented anyway. I have 10 droids for sale on my vendor (I am kind of a newbie at selling stuff), and only one gets listed on the terminal. I even unlisted and relisted, pulled and replaced items and nothing changed. Now this is just after the servers came up, but that is how it is right now.

Thought I would pass it on.

Exactly.
I am not suggesting for a moment that you attempt to clog the system with bogus items.
I am saying that I plan on having everything Iwould normally offer for sale legitimately (not my storage vendor) listed on the global search page. All 3000+ items worth of it.
To hold back from listing the items would put me at a competitive disadvantage so doing so would be a bad business decision.

I agree. First,I don't understand why someone who sells items for a reasonable price doesn't want potential buyers to be able to easily and quickly compare their prices and quality to those of their competitors. The ones who will be hurt the most are those that over-price their goods. Second, to purposefully try to make it more difficult for those who want to buy and sell goods globally sucks, especially for a correspondent. I have a pure crafter and a pure fighter, and I expect that both will greatly benefit with the new system.

Once all players get to try out the new system and make comments, we will, hopefully, see some tweaks to make the system better. Personnally I would prefer that a certain merchant skill level be required to list items globally, and I will probably have more suggestions once we start using the new system a bit.

In the mean time, I expect my crafter's sales to increase significantly, and I know it will be far easier for both my toons to find the items they want to buy.

I may have misunderstood what you and the Correspondent are suggesting. If so, my apologies. I would hate to see people intentionally trying to make things difficult for other players.

Yeah, I think I will modify my buisness. I will convertmy component storage vendor (2000 or so items) normally priced at 99 million, and I am going to make a new Component vendor for sale to the public. All 2000 factory crates of droid and architect parts will be listed at fair purchase price (based on my business model) and on the Galaxy search. But I am doubtful it will be a success. Adding my 2k+ factory crates to the 50k or more that will already be there will not likely bring any business my way. I will be competeing for attention with Buff sets, stims, powerups, crated weapons, crated armor, a LOT of food, etc....

But, this is the system the Devs wanted, so I will jump onboard with both feet!

I've always thought it was better to offer your components for sale at fair value rather than trying to store them priced at 9999999 was the best way to do it.

The parts are there if you need them, and you might make a little money off them in the meantime.
