And apparently, the advertising ability is still NOT tied to skill points. I don't know why, but I'm shocked they're really not doing that. At least the default is Off.

Galaxy-wide Vendor Search is here!

Have you ever wanted to search for an item to buy without having to travel across the entire planet randomly checking vendors? Well now you can! We have enhanced the functionality of our bazaar terminals to include the ability to search all player vendors for items you may be looking for. This new feature will greatly improve how vendors are handled in the game. Read on for more information.

Overview The purpose of vendor search function is to allow vendor owned items to be searched from anywhere in the galaxy. This will include the following functions:

  • Each vendor owner can decide whether to allow his or her vendors to be searchable in the market. There is an option for vendor owners to turn on/off the search option on his or her vendor. The vendor owner will be able to find current search option settings for each of his or her vendor(s)
  • When a vendor owner turns on the search option, a player should be able to go to any bazaar and list all items owned by this vendor
  • When a vendor owner turns off the search option, the vendor is no longer listed in the galaxy-wide network search. With this search option turned off, vendor owners have the ability to conduct private auctions. Players will need to physically go to the vendor and click "Use Vendor" to list items from this vendor.

Vendor Status For all the existing vendors, the default option is set to no. Players have to go to their vendors and enable this search option. For all future vendors, this option is set to yes by default. For vendor owners to check if the search option is on or off do the following:

  • Select the Vendor you wish to turn search on/off for
  • From the radial menu choose "Vendor Control" Once you have selected "Vendor Control" then choose "Status"
  • A pop-up window will show if the search option is on or off

I just want to thank Elyssa and everyone else who went to bat for us and who've put up with us during all of this. You've put in a lot of work and did a good job of reducing negative impacts on us. Thanks for fighting the good SWG fight.

My bad, I missed that. Ouch.

Time to decide what I want to do with myself asMerchant. I like having the extra 1k items, and there is, at least, still value at being on the overhead map, but the rest of it is of much less value now, and I'd also like to keep dabbling in various other professions so I can keep selling factory runs of crafter components.

I'm also a Master Ranger, who's now penalized for soloing and can be outharvested by a few 0020 scouts.

(Irony! While I was writing this, though I wasn't idle in-game for more than five minutes, the game logged me out. PARANOIA! >.> )

This is very disappointing. It would seem that they do not place any value on the merchant class anymore.

Considering the complete disregard that we've seen over the fact that an entire tree of Merchant has been completely devalued, I really wonder if we won't see Merchant go the way of Politician. I wasn't keen on the Politician change, nor am I on Merchant being a no-skill point class. The decreased the points for ID, so it's possible they'd go that route instead.

Whatever they decide to do, it would be nice if they at least acknowledged the fact that allowing all vendors to be added to the galaxy-wide search made one whole tree of Merchant almost useless. I thought the idea a few months back with the vendor item limits was to give purpose to Merchant skills....seems silly to put things right back where they were before.

What bothers me is that the skillpoint issue was completely ignored. It's like giving Strafe Shot 2 to someone with Rifles III, or letting an 0030 Medic use E stimpacks.

The sort-by-price thing also bothers the hell out of me.

I'd like to say they listened to us in this because they removed remote purchasing, but the masses were complaining about that, too. I feel like this was looked at strictly as a tool for the non-Merchant buyer, without nearly enough regard to how the way it's set up will impact our profession and many ofthe mom-and-pop operations.

I've made no secret that I'm very disappointed in this, but I kinda suspect that the lists of items will be so outrageously huge that this feature will become completely useless.

A few people will buy things from the first couple of pages, but eventually the majority of the playerbase won't even bother because the best deals will be buried down on page 28 and it's just too much trouble to find them.

Also remember, that sorting by "this region" is practically useless because it will really only show the NPC city where the terminal is so there aren't any player vendors.

The minimum sort range will be "this planet" which, as I said before, will be too cumbersome to deal with.

Best case scenario:The system will fail because it gets implemented this way.

I certainly intend to clog the system up by turning it on for every one of my vendors and add about 3500 items into the mix to be sorted through.

I urge all of you to take advantage of this new form of advertising and list all of your vendors on it, too.

At this point, I just want my skill points back. Even if this is the best thing ever to happen to an MMO in the (short) history of MMO's, it still sucks for Merchants. One whole tree virtually useless, and another whole tree to try and hide with clothes how disgusting the vendors usually look. Efficiency and vendor item cap increases are the only 2 things useful in Merchant now. I am so very tempted to drop to 0404 now.

But honestly, I think they should just give us back some skill points. Make each box cost 1 point. Even then it would be hard to justify the expenditure.

Jedi will never be a starting profession...Looted items and quest items will never be better then crafted items, this is not a loot based game...CH will return shortly...CH and BE will not be back in game...Rangers are getting their revamp next!...The stealth system will not be changing in the spy expertise...Need any more examples of things the devs said that did not hold true?

Yep, me too. I argued this very point in the test center threads to, apparently, no avail.

Let me get this straight...are you suggesting that we attempt to sabotage the system by clogging it with items (without the intent to seriously sell them)intentionaly?

Call me crazy but I'd like to see how this works on live without others intentionally sabotaging the effort. Especially if they are the correspondent for my profession.

Does this really call for taking everyone else's ball and going home?

Not at all. Our Correspondent is NOT suggesting that we try to dog the system on purpose - Rather, the suggestion is that we all USE the system as it was intended. Not only list one vendor with high prices, and leave the rest OFF the system with the good prices, which to me WOULD be trying to defeat the system.

A lot of us said that the system on a Live server would be cumbersome. We were told not to worry. So, let's add in ALL our vendors to the system, and let's see who was right.. That's the basic meaning.
