and i think...oh hey cool...a little bit more traffic coming through the place...rock on...we like traffic here...we're a commercial community....the city is funded by a guild of crafters and entertainers....so we like seeing new customers roll through....
next thing I know....
to *me* no less......the grinder...sitting on the steps wearing a duster, random clothes, and *NO* weapon at all....with the Master Tailor title up top....
"would you have 10k i could have" 'peon' says
'peon' says "i will buff you"
......
yeah hold on a sec....grinding out all those professions requires *tons* of buffs....yeah let me whip out my bank card here and get you that money....
*shuffles off to pick up that crate of C12 grenades for target practice*

Don't be so hard on this guy. At least he is trying to do something for the credits. He isn't just asking for 10k and 10k for doc buffs isn't all that bad. After my usual tip, I generally pay more than 10k for a buff.
Also, one cannot assume that because you have Master Tailor you don't have a combat class as well. Because I can only afford 1 character and want to be able to do both crafting and combat, my char is a Master Weaponsmith and working on Master TKA. I might have taken him up on the offer if the time was right and he had asked me.

Wow. Money is no object and he had 10k? ROFLMAO! What a dweeb.
buy a15k schematic to make 1 weapon for a million credits? Yeah. That's good business sense.
and boy howdy, I love it when "no" is a word that cannot comprehend.
selling in bulk at a discount can be good for bisness to see how i will use RL examples Sony sells it products to mass merchants ie Wal-Mart they make instant sales and profit if they sold through Sony only stores they would have to wait for sales to make profit. granted they make less per unit by selling to another company yet they sell more units than they could otherwise. and you dont have to sell yourself short by doing this with a company like walmart after overhead (paying for product and all costs associated with the bissness ) the profit margin is less than 4% so if you were to discount a bulk sale by no more than 5% to 6% you would be makeing money on the sale and he would be able to make a profit also if you swithced to selling through a merchant only you would maximis your profit by not having th overhead of runnin a vendor.

I got one a few days ago...
I have been happily selling armor from my own shop which I share with my partner and a business manager (alt) we hired. I try to keep my prices reasonable and even on the low side for most thing. I hand build all my armor because... novel concept... I enjoy crafting and do it more for that and the interaction with people than to amass a massive fortune in pixelated money.
Anyway, I get a tell out of the blue from someone asking me to sell them composite in bulk for a wholesale price. I ask if they are outfitting a PA or somesuch (in which case I would have worked out some sort of PA discount/deal by armor) and get the response that the person is intending to resell. I tell him I price my stuff pretty reasonably even cheaply in some cases (though I do let Composite sales subsidise the other armors) and I wasn't interested in selling them in bulk wholesale. The person then goes on to tell me how stupid I am for not wanting to grind up suits of armor for him to sell, selling them to him at below the prices I sell in my shop on my own. Ummmm... okay? *blinkblink* He tells me I should be selling wholesale to him in order to make more money than I am. Ummm.... okay? *blinkblink* Can someone do the math for me?

The only customers that annoy me are the ones who ask "can you make thus and so armor?"
My answer "sure, Here are my usual prices and major resist for 2 of that type of armor (standard and advanced), but I am out of THIS resource (in a specific case armor padding) and there will be a slight delay while I get some more, probably can get it done tomorrow or day after at latest".
Customer, "If I give you [usual price]+5K if you get it done now"
Me, "Ummm... if I had the resource I said I am out of, I would make it in a jiffy, I said I was out of it thus I cannot make you one instantly. But, I put some on the vendor earlier today, they -might- still be there (probably sold within 5 mins of being put up for sale by the merchant character)."
This being wookiee armor and me having had a particularly good day and not in a rush that moment but standing right by the vendor, I looked on the vendor and the suits I put up earlier were gone, but I forgot I had offered one that hadn't been put up (busy day). I was able to offer and sell that one to the rush rush customer, but it really really annoys me to get the "if you make it now I will pay x more" when I said it will be 2-3 days because of factory runs, waiting on a needed component, etc.

Not strictly a Merchant issue but same idea. Way back when I was a noob in Sept. I decided to explore Yavin 4. Like a noob I didn't realize everything on that planet is aggro and can kill a novice marksman with a sneeze. Also like a noob I didn't have enough cash on me. 113 delivery missions inside the outpost i had enough cash to get out, and back to a normal planet. Phew
Six months later on Yavin again waiting for a shuttle, up comes a noob novice marksman, still in the starter clothes, and says I screwed up and can't get home. Can someone give me some money. For some reason I was in a generous mood that night and tipped him 5k so he could get off of Yavin. I had my Master Merchant title up and he asked me if he could get a pair of camo pants off me. All I had with me was a few bio engenieered pairs I was going to drop off for a friend to sell. Told him what I had on me was too expensive but if he went to my friends vendor I had unaugmented stuff there cheap. he asked to see the pants I did have, I figure he was curious so I opened a trade window to show him the stats and all. At which point he puts in 20k on his side to try an buy them. Arrrggh. Sigh. Some people are total idiots. People like that tempt me to get rid of the Helper tag sometimes.
