Thread: Vendors and private houses

In this update, vendors can only be in public structures.
The first problem with vendors in private houses was that people were getting griefed using them. They were putting items up for sale which were reflected on local commodities markets and purchased, but then were not available for pickup because the vendor was locked away behind closed doors. The result was people getting gypped out of their money.
This is another example where Holocron obviously isn't playing the same game we are... I remember when he acted surprised that people weren't getting XP for experimentation (a item yet to be fixed btw).
Holocron, vendors can't advertise on the local commodities market. You removed vendors from advertising on the bazaar at release.
Thanks for being aware of what is really going on in SWG. You basically nerfed PA only vendors...

I had someone test this out for me yesterday. My Shop and private shop are right beside each other and in the same region. They were unable to see items on my private vendor so this just confirms that this "greifing" could not have happened.
I know yesterday that this would work for me. I have three vendors within my shop and placed a vendor within my wife's shop so she could take advantage of my global advertising. I can't remember what the item is that is right above your specific vendor in the upper left hand panel of the vendor screen but when I looked for items I could peruse things that were on all of my vendors. It was handy for me because I have different prices structures for some items and could tell from one vendor who I needed to go restock. I haven't checked whether a shopper could pull the same list or not, but if they could then I can see where I could list things on the remote vendor and those people would never be able to pick them up.

The shopper can not see this. Onely the Merchant.
As a Master crafter, I get a lot of orders. I like to have one vendor set aside for custom orders only, who is in a private house. I put the special order on the vendor, add the customer to the entry list, andthenthose L33Td00ds can'tget in andgrief-buy someone else's order.
My guild is operated more like a co-op than anythign else.. I do ALOT of mining, so after harvesting, i split my resources in two .. take one half and sell them on bazar and in my store.. and with teh other half i put in my bulky vendor in my PAHALL each amount up for the price of one credit. any artisains in my PA hall that need anything in ther can easily just grab what they need and when they are done put the amount back in offerings as one credit.
i simply buy them back and re post the remaning amount.
also.. anything the people in my guild harvest / find / collect / produce (all artisains goods and wares) they split in two.. and post on the PA HALL vendor where i buy and repost for others in my PA to have free acess to. .. we all live and work in the PA hall so its guild members only allowed on entry list.. it works out great for everyone .. everyone most always has whatever they need for whatever they are doing.. (materials for crafting, armor guns for fighting, pets for hunting) at their fingertips.. ive been doing this since i got business 3 the second week of game being online.. and has worked faithfully since..
alot of the people we tried to invite to the PA in the beginning.. were naysayers about my methods and thought it took too much trust (even though i see all sales in email lol).. but they are admiring the success of the guild and its members at this point because of the system..
I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND IT!!!!
Holo,
We want our PA hall private. We want to have a vendor to sell things to PA members for
1. Lower than retail prices. We have to be able to have a private vendor somewhere to do this.
2. Since there is no mechanism to charge dues we use a vendor to collect dues. Put up weapon power ups or food and require everyone to buy something.
If you create a dues mechanism I could live without private vendors.
I use mine to sell to the public but I would like to be able to sell items to specific people (ie factions). Example I know there are guilds that are Imperial or Rebel. Now I dont want my resources at 1.5 cr per unitgoing to the Imperials since that helps thier war effort. I would want to sell to to them at 5 or 6 credit per unit. thus costing them more to make items and hurting thier overall war effort.
I know guild dont have factions but it would be nice if you could sell to factions at a different rate regardless of covert/overt status. I wouldnt't mine selling to coverts at a different price but with the belonging to guild that I KNOW are the oppisition and them proudly display that in there name, I should have a choice to whom I sell and at what price. the lesser of all the evils here is faction base pricing IMHO. Also maybe you could avg the price to figure out maintence.
PA vendors are needed ASAP
We use PA vendors to share resources, deliver items to people who might have trouble hooking up in person, and to sell items to our members at lower rates than we use for outsiders.
It would be best if a PA vendor acts like a sort of PA bazaar. All members should be able to put things up on it, not only the "owner", as this puts a heavy load on the owner to shunt items from offers to sales.
It also ties up cash for the owner when items are sold for a few thousand, as the owner then has to buy the item and put it up for sale.
So, a PA bazaar, INDEPENDENT of the main bazaar, not limited by how many items are on the "real" bazaar.
I dont mind if it can only be placed in the PA hall as long as it is not usable by outsiders.
In ADDITION we need ways to reserve items for customers.
If a customer orders something specifically, we currently have no way of assuring that noone else buys the item from a vendor, as there are no access restrictions.
Our vendors need 2 things, as I see it. First, an administrator list just like a house or a factory so that a group of people can tend for a vendor and pricing structure list with options like wholesale, cost, faction. The wholesale and cost options should be a list, like an admin list that you can add names to. So if I want to sell my Stim Cs to John, Jill, Jane and Tom for 250cr they get added to the cost list.
