Yeah. I'm either sitting idle or crafting. I'm neglecting my store, tho, so I need to leave the village.
It's just easier to log out there and cash in the next morning.

I am trying to get the novice Merchant xp box and am running into a problem.
I am not gaining any merchant xp. I have a vendor up and running and have some crafting kits for sale in the vendor. They have not been sold, as I have not recieved any emails notifying me of the sales.
I have a total of 300xp in merchant, and that all from last night, before I logged off. Should I not be getting 150xp / hour for having a running, online vendor?
Please, no flames, I have read the stickies, and the FAQ's, and from I found, either they don't cover gaining the novice box, or say that you should be getting some xp just for having it, regardless of if you are online or not. I have been logged in now about 90 minutes, and still have no addtional xp. Are the stickies and FAQ's out of date? Has Merchant XP been changed?
Any help would be great.
Thanks again.

You only get awarded merchant xp when your vendor is loaded into the world.
Go visit your vendor to force it to load and it should catch up on all the xp it has missed since the last time you got it. It will take a minute or two for you to get it.
Also, be sure your maintenance is paid on the vendor.

Does having more vendors increase your xp ??? If not what does increase your xp (excluding people coming to your vendors, /respec, and the 1 credit enter fee)???

Yes, it does.
I recommend reading Doc's excellent guide to the merchant profession stickied at the top of this forum.

Make sure you are declared resident in the building w/ your vendors, also.

That has no bearing on merchant xp.
You must be the owner of the building to get xp from entry fees, tho.

Oops, I always thought you had to be resident in the building w/ the vendors.

Thank You elyssa for your time.... I did read the pasty on top and it did help alot... Now is the time for just waiting
I want to be a great merchant on Chilastra but I see its very hard to compete with people that are in a guild that he/she lets most of the guild members to drop down 50-100 harvesters.. I can only put down a few
oh well I WILL NOT TRY DO ... OR DO NOT!!!! THERE IS NO TRY!!!! With this I hope that I can at least compete on here with the big dogs...
Your opinion what would be the best resource to go for??? Most people are selling steel, ore, aluminum but I want to get something that people dont know much about that would help me compete

also you can get merchant exp just using your vendor
all you have to do is click use vendor on the menu and then either put things up sale or click on all the display options you'll get merchant exp just doing this

That only works for OTHER people looking at your vendor.
You get no xp for putting items on sale (or for selling them) but the vendor itself gives xp every hour.
