Hanno it is not ANYONES job to support you. That is your job. Just because we can heal does not make us like us anymore important than the entertainer who heals my mind, the MANY MANY scouts/marksmen/brawls who tank for us, the crafter who make the harvesters we rely on and so forth.

For better or worse SWG is about interdependence. We all need each other.

One other thing I would like to point out to all medics, this is a GAME. People play it to have fun and some of the fighters put in a LOT of hours just like us medics. The difference being that we can still play 98% of the game if we are at half health/action. They can't. Have a heart man and try being nice about it. I have no problem with asking for money, but if they can't pay, just tendwound them until fixed. Sit there and make make stim A's to kill time. TALK to the people your healing. You will be amazed what it will do for you, your game, and the level of enjoyment.

I am not blaming the medics. I am blaming the DEVS. Ok let me ask anybody who has played a MMORPG before. Was the healer not the BACKBONE to any good exping group? I will tell you this from exp. I was a 50 Druid in DAoC. I got tells ALL DAY to go with groups to go hunt. You know why. BECAUSE they cant exp without healing.

See I saw a post on here that we need to pay 3000c an hour for a meds service in the feild. See if this is true how much it costs to truely have meds out in the feild then DEVS TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT HOW U SET THE GAME UP.

I also saw another person say that we must not be hunting right. Well dummie. When you start to not become a NOOB and actually start getting you toon higher levels....guess what....THE MISSIONS GET HARDER. I use to solo missions all the time. But once I FINALLY got my Master Marksman and got my Imperial status.....trust me the missions change DRASTICALLY.

Once again I am not blaiming meds. If they stay in hospital it is better. No risk of dying, they get tips, they get exp. If I was a med....I dont think I would leave either.

DEVS please take a look at the way medics level please. We N_E_E_D them in the feild.

This is NOT a problem with the way medics level.

The problem is that the servers are new and players who don't understand cloning have been filling the hospitals with massive wounds to heal. The medics until now have been low level, and there has been huge demand for them in the hospitals. Therefore newbie medics have learnedto working in hospitals and asking for tips. As the servers mature, they will find less work in hospitals and join combat groups more often.

But the XP in a combat group is TWICE as good as in a hospital. Therefore any medic who isn't joining combat groups is crazy. You also get the opportunity to advance a weapon skill and learn how to heal efficiently in the field. You should NOT be asking a group for cash payment to heal combat damage - that is ridiculous. Sure, ask them for help with organics and inorganics, but asking for cash is rude. YOU NEED combat groups, they're the best source of XP.

Find B stimpacks too hard to craft and keep up in a combat group? Fine, don't make them! Use A stimpacks made from quality resources.Fill your inventory with Stim A, join a combat group and start healing. Craft more between fights. Stim A is fine for combat until you start grouping with elite professions. If you're having some kind of resource crisis, get a couple of harvesters and you'll be set. It's not about the credits.

Yowza!

First, wanted to address this little nugget of wisdom:

"what it comes down to: when people are capped out on medical xp, why in the hell would they come throw away resources on people?"

Once you're maxed out on weapon XP, why would you ever go shoot anything again? The point of being a medic isnt necessarily to get the xp. I guess you'd have to be a healer to get it.

Personally, i never understood why everyone wanted to sit in the medical center for hours on end. Actually, to begin with i had a hard time believing that anyone at all would do it! I've healed in the med center several times, but it was just because i had some downtime or i wanted to get to a certain XP goal. Healing in the field is a lot more fun, XP aside. Now, if it werent for some of the wierdness surrounding healing while firing my weapon, i'd say that group healing is WAY better than med center healing. But, sometimes its frustrating trying to group heal when you dont know when your heal is going to take effect!

ogreb42, you can solve that problem easily with a healing macro that includes /peace ... e.g. /peace; /healdamage; /assist

Heals seem to go into the combat queue along with weapon attacks, so the idea is to /peace before a heal to clear the combat stuff and let your heal get through faster. There can still be a delay but it's much more reliable.

YOu dont want us with crappy stimpaks A in the field. I know can make stimpak D. if they wre in game. So now i can use stimpaks C. I have stat Buffs and I will be a good use to your hunting groups.

Stimpack Ds are in the game. I've been using them for two days now.

You will be seeing more medics in the field soon. I just need ot make maybe 30k more in dilver missions. (those 10credits tips are nice but not really helpful) and get my 2nd row setup. I get some damm nice woundkits when i skill up again.

Bah, what are you waiting for? Get out there now. You'll get your medical XP FAR FAR faster in the field than you will in that stupid med center. Compare the 200 xp you get every 25 or so seconds for wound healing with 500 xp every 4 seconds using Stim Ds in the field. You might think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. Last Tusken group I went with, I got 13,000 medical XP in 35 minutes. Get out of the med center. Quit saying you'll start having fun and learning how to fight when you get X skill finished. All you'll be is a Master Doc who doesn't know his *** from a hole in the ground in a combat group. Work out the kinks in newbie groups now.

Didnt read the entire thread. Justed wanted to say a few things.

This goes two ways. You warriors arent doing your jobs. There are worrt spawns near where I live. I have a hard time getting to my house without getting aggroed. I dont really care what you want to do, or how you want to play the game you pay for. I want you to go over there and clear it out. Because it's 'your job' Will I pay you? No. Will I thank you? No. And why? Because it's your job.

I loose over 10,000 credits in medcenters a day healing people because people are cheap. Icomplain occassionally when I get a slap in a face. Like a 2 credit tip and a chuckle. I think I'm entitled to that. You dont loose credits on your hunting trips. What you purchase lasts you several weeks. The only thing you can possibly loose is time. Guess what, we loose time as well, but not only time, we also loose credits. I had to start selling other peoples stuff, harvesters, houses, weapons etc. Just so I can break even. What does this mean? Less time in medcenters, less time out in the field. Not to mention people seem to think I'm their slave and tend to call me whenever they are bleeding. Grow up. Shut up. Get over it. Cover our costs, or dont bother us.

Oh, and a second thing. I dont care about xp. If I wanted to level, I'd get my friends to tumble or survery, or dance flourish and I'd heal them all day with medpacks. I only heal to help others. So dont pull that, 'you get xp from healing so you dont need credits' BS on me.

the /tumbletostand macro is the be all, end all of power leveling a medic. Thank you Timzai. A full house in the cantina with yourself as the only medic does wonders also.

It's people like this and their attitudes about medics in general that made me swear off of medic for launch. I'm glad to see you guys had the decency to tell him off.

What makes me angree some times is a medic asking for /tips to heal you, and you tip them a few 100 cr and they heal them self or there friends with your money! Those people i don't like. But i gladly tip the heck out of anyone who heals me.
I tip, but only after or when i am getting healed.

Heh, I remember when I was 13.

Sorry, we are here to have fun, not to be your personal medicslaves, and it doesn't sound like adventuring with you would be that much fun. Your buddies want a medic, then create one. They aren't much fun in general right now.

*Sigh*

To the poster that was so impressed over his pages for his cleric.

You were a level /50/ Cleric, for all that's Holy. You could probably heal Ebola. Comparing A Level 50 cleric to a novice medic is somewhat like saying "I just started this warrior today, but why isn't anyone asking me to go hunt dragons." You want us all in the field? Right now? You'd be horrifed with the skill level, obviusly, since you seem to think Medics come out of the box capable of healing entire HAM bars. And what's with this outlook on medics as utter bit*hs if they dont cater to your beck and call? Have you ever seen what it takes to make a med pack B? The only other combat class that goes through rescourcs ANYTHING near as fast as we do are scouts, and they can find half of what they need efictlivly with their own skills. If medicinal forage wasn't so completly broken and I really COULD get all I needed for med kits just from that, I suppose I'd feel different about it.

Get over yourself. I heal for free becuase I'm an intermediate medic. You can bet your crappy blaster once I hit novice Doctor I'm only healing for money. I dont WANT to do that. I play the game to play the game. I dont power level, since I enjoy the trip more than the destination, though I can't deny a more effective charecter IS a more effective charecter. But I can't. Affoard. The blasted. SUPPLIES. I can't BUY things with xp, you MONRIC 12 year olds that lay that"Your getting xp so just heal me" bs on me. The only alternative to using the mindblowingly expensive and difficult to gain rescources to craft these medicins is using the tend command, which heals, weakly, with no meds, slams about a -312 to my Mind pool, gives me battle fatigue, AND focus and will power wounds. I can do 5 of those before I"m stuck recharging. How useful is THAT in the field?

Have you ever even PLAYED a healer?

I live in this world. I exist in my own.

ack just lost 5 paragraphs of well written idea.

so to paraphrase that.

Doctors are just too damm poor to have to deal with people yelling at them.

docotors in the field have issues cause they go through supplies so fast and dont really make any money doing it, so it does not benefit a doctor for going into the fieldl..

why do somethig that doenst help the player.. it just takes resources and time away from advancing skills.

most other class's i see people with tens of thousands of credits but i dont know any doctor with more then a few thousand credits at best.. its just frustating to be penalized because i want to play full doctor class.

a near master doctor shouldnt have to do deliver missiosn to afford the basics of life
