Thread: Medics need to do their job

I have a 100% group medic. He has only been in the med center to train.

He only groups with friends.

Indeed most of the medics out in the field only group with friends or PA members...

Why?

Because they understand the huge costs associated with mnaging medicines, and they help us defrey the cost.

Some medicines use 100+ resources of varying types to make... Thos cost us time, money or both... and we certainly arent getting either out of people like the origional poster. next you'll want the Doctors to buff you for free too. Not going to happen pal.

Until people sit down and actually try and understand how other professions work, then they are gonna wonder why that professions will have nothing to do with them.

There is indeed more XP to be earned in the field. The trouble is, the people in the field often don't deserve to be healed. The medics get to make that call.

We get to decide if we want to group up or not... There are about 7 ways for us to get XP if we are willing to eat all the costs of meds... all of them are safer than getting creamed fighting with the origional poster.

The future combat medics are better off Switching Tags to marksmen and pretending to be marksmen with a little med skill to get gun and combat XP (change out of the newbie medic outfits too). This is especially true if you are planning to get into a pickup group with the likes of the first poster. Being a known healer in the Yahoo Rodeo, or the Zerg-o-matic blaster parade is asking for grief, and nasty tells, when you can't heal 17 people all at once.

It'll take a while but people on servers are already getting reputations, both good and bad. Eventually,we'll know who to avoid.

Well, the answer to that is that you need to befriend a medic. Yes, there are living people behind those toons. As a medic I hunt with friends, since I am using my resources with no expectation of compensation. Do I do it for the exp? No, I can get far better exp just standing about in a full cantina or in a medcenter. But that happens when you get to higher meds. And the excuse by the way that your weapon wears out as fast as a Stimpack is insane. It doesn't I play a medic/marksman. In which case I use both.

Now, for those people that say you cannot use meds in combat. Your wrong. I do all the time. What the problem your seeing is that there is an invisible item that lands on your Queue called /healdamage self. It will not go off until everything in your combat queue is gone. So, if your spamming 100 body shots you will never get healed. If you hit /bodyshot1 then /healdamage self your going to be fully healed. I can easily solo mission with reds and yellows. So, i am pretty sure you guys can take things that aren't too tough by yourself.

The reason I quit medic after beta was quite obvious; they were still broken.

There was always the attitute problem that I hated from other players being so demanding to medics, too, as brought out in this thread. If I ever do play a doc again, it'll purely be for me and my friends only, they're the only ones that seem to appreciate it anyways.

Don't bring on the topic about doctors being greedy. I play a weaponsmith now and I tell you I can tell you that I've met many players that will tell me "Oh I have no money now lemme do some missions and come back at you", where as a doc all I ever got was "Oh I have no money can you PLZZZ heal me for free?", "You get med xp from doing this anyways, greedy (insert profanity)".

This past week as weaponsmith, I made just as much money as I did in the entire course of beta as my doctor, go figure.

If u want to reduce down time, get the basic medic profession.
If you want to further reduce it, get a medic friend, or pay for ones service.

Not that hard really, if everyone take a destroy mission right before they leave, and split some of that to the medic, everyone will be happy. Remember it's the medic that's keeping you alive.

Medics in groups are way more than valuable, a group of 4 high level medics (2x CM, 2x doc) was able to kill MANY reds that was impossible to a good group of about 6-7 using tactics in Yavin by the end of beta 3. Go figure

Bottom line: treat your medic well, and they'll treat you well. How do you expect them to treat you if you scream at them like that? Certainly I will not sell a weapon to a customer if being screamed with the tone of the origional poster.

When I first read whiny boy's POST, I was a little ticked and was going to make a nice retort myself. After reading the rest of the replies, all I can say is well said everyone.

Do your own job, learn to fight smart, and don't die. I don't know what server you're on, but I can guarantee you Dritz will get no healing from me if he steps in my med center. Better yet, I am more than willing to sell some experimentedStimB's, stacks of 20 for 200 a piece. Take novice medic, and heal your own wounds.

I have noticed some rants on this thread.

But let me say this..

I am a medic that has spent over 7 hours a day of the last week. 3 to 4 hours of my day getting resources. 1 or 2 doing missions. and the REst in the med center blowing through all the resources I made.

I am spending 10k to 15k on training. Some days i max out at 20k. Im am powergrinding the best i can. I am already a Novice Doctor and have the first row complete. Now I am already behind a few other fella docs that are able to pay 10+hours a day.

My point?

Once i get my skills a bit better. I will be spending a lot of my time In the field instead of med center. YOU say you want medics in the field. I say I want the Hell out of the med center and in the field. YOu are going ot have a lot of medics in the field in the near future. Right now we are working our butt off grinding away trying to make out healing skill worth it.. YOu dont want us with crappy stimpaks A in the field. I know can make stimpak D. if they wre in game. So now i can use stimpaks C. I have stat Buffs and I will be a good use to your hunting groups.

You will be seeing more medics in the field soon. I just need ot make maybe 30k more in dilver missions. (those 10credits tips are nice but not really helpful) and get my 2nd row setup. I get some damm nice woundkits when i skill up again.

so stop ranting. Think of you doctors still in Med school fine tunning their skills.

HOWEVER ONE PROBLEM.

When we go hunting we will always go through Hours of Resources. When a marksmen going hunting. How many hours does he have to get resources to hunt? not to manyy. As a medic i need to spend many hours for the same thing. Plus IF the hunting trip doenst make us money we dont get a lot out of it.

sure its fun. but why should a medic go hunting when they a.) get crappy combat exp b.) go through hours of resouces and c.) make zero money.

I am not saying i dont like it, but current game mechaincs dont rely reward medics for playing in the field and most Players dont or wont help out medics.

A few of you tip nice. but so many dont it makes the medics life rough. Now i know this might work itself out, but so far its not and adds to the problem.

thats all i have for my wisdom

Ok, now its my turn!

Currently my guy is going for medic/CH. So, not only do I need medic exp, I need carbine exp, and I need scout exp. However, since everyone expects me to be able to heal them during combat, I usually only get 100-200 exp for carbine, while everyone else is hitting 500 exp. Then after the battle, while everybody is quickly harvesting as fast as they can, I am stuck healing people. So, now I don't get any scout exp, or any resources for the stims that I am using. So, why do I group you ask? Because, the exp for medic is GREAT. For 2 hours of work yesterday I made 25k exp in medic. Thats just nice! So, by today or tomorrow, I will have my master medic tree done, I will be expert carbine, with a little luck, and then I will happily solo my way quickly up the scout line, and get CH. After all that is said I done, I will group again, heal myself and my pets, and maybe heal other people, if I feel like it, or its a good group (which is rare). Originaly I had planned on going combat medic, or doc, but the way people treat medics in groups, its just not worth it, which is unfortunate. Lastly, for a group to work well, here is what I think they should do:

1. set up a harvesting order, only those people working on the scout tree harvest.

2. ALL rescources gathered goes to the medic/doctor/combat med or whoever is healing you.

If you just do these two simple things, groups work much much better. If you want your own rescrouces, fight stuff that does not require a medic, or solo. Group hunting should be for exp.

I have to agree with most of the Medics here except that on my server (Bloodfin) everyone seems to be quite friendly, tips well, and generally are understanding of the fact that medics have to grind exp to get combat medic to be of any use out in the field.

I usually say this in the med center... if you want medics out in the field with you why not tip them good cash and good resources so they can advance through their field faster? The more you help the med center bound medics, the faster they'll be able to help you later on.

I have already made good relationships with patients that bring or sell me resources they have gathered so I can make meds to give them or use on them so they can get in and out of the med center that much faster. Those people are also healed first by me because I know they're trying to help me out.

So my rambling message basically says this... help your medics advance and they'll be able to leave the med center sooner with their combat medic skill. I have yet to see a full on combat medic probably because it's so hard to work up the tree with cheap patients and impatient people.

Those with respect for medics can come see me at the med center on corellia in coronet city on the bloodfin server. I'll be glad to help you if you just treat me with a little respect.

JanJelinek

p.s. next person who says "i have no money and can't tip you anything it's on my corpse" AFTER i heal them for 1 hour gets the blacklist. If you're broke tell me BEFOREHAND so I don't feel cheated. I will still heal you but at least let me know first. It's just a matter of principle.

I'm in Theed on Naboo in Tarquinas and am a Medic/Entertainer. I run around with a LFG sign over my head. You want heals, I want XP. All I ask for is some help when it comes to getting some organics and inorganics for the heals. And keep my butt alive!

Oh, BTW....it is not the MEDICS job to support the other professions....you all support us!

OK for the past several days me and a couple of buddies have been trying to hunt and kill things but there seems to be a problem. We are at the point where mobs are starting to finish us off thus makin our hunting trip completely pointless cause all we do is dying. So I ask myself why is this happening? Why cant I progress any farther? Then it hit me. Only one time have i EVER hunted with a medic.. and that was one of the few times we've had a pretty succesfuly hunting trip. So me and my buddies decide to try to get some medics to come out and hunt with us and what do we get... "No we wanna sit on our in the hospital and bitch about tips" all day while we are out there gettin our handed to us and then runnin our on endless CR's because we cant even afford to insure out items cause we always DIE! My point is i would like to see more medics out in the battlefield and off their in the hospital. Im sure as you guys get higher up the exp will start to suck as well in the hosptial so why not go out on a hunting group? Get a tan! Get some faction exp. HELP US MELEE AND MARKSMAN THAT WHAT YOU ARE HERE FOR!! Ok /rant off

did you offer to pay any medics for their time and resources? In a decent sized group a medic can blow through hundreds of heals which = many hundreds of resources

Do all medics care about is money? What about the costs WE go through.. buying new guns/armor hell stimpacks cause i cant get a **edit** medic out there to heal me anywayz? Point is we shouldnt have to pay medics to do their job. They are gettin EXP just like we are.

AMEN AMEN!!!!

Man I am so sick and tired of getting BLASTED out on the battle grounds.

DEVS take a look at how you set this game up. does MMO ring a bell? It means Massive Multiplayer. Well so far all I have gotten out of this game is Massive Pain in the Ass. I have been soloing my whole toons life so far. Exp Blows in a group....plus we cant get a med out of the hospital. BTW meds....if you would leave the hospital and see the sun....and missions....there is money involved in them. Exp solo is the best. I am just getting burned out on this tiresome circle....go hunt for 20 mins....die.....go to catina....heal BF for 5-10 mins....go to Hospital....TIP GOOD MONEY.....get healed for 20-30 mins.....go and get corpse.....to once again die.

Not having a whole lot of fun......BTW.....am I a beta tester???? I sure feel like it.

Hello all, I am an fairly advanced medic (III's around and IV on Chem) and I would love to find a gourp to go out with and improve my sorry little combat skills. A few times I have tried and most ppl just wanted to know what lvl my rifle skill was.
I am sure that is not ALL people out there since lots of ppl I have met do you have a brain. I also know where a lot of really good hunting is since I criss cross the planet looking for resources.
If you aren't into ninja looting send me a tell and I will be happy to group.
