So we have to pay for the new emotes? .....
That's a bit cheesy......
Yay?

Cool! These'll be available even to those who didn't get JtL, right?
Also, are there any new chat cues that trigger these? ie: typing something with the word "cold" in it triggers theshiver emote. Or will we have to type out all of these?
I'm hoping but more then likely this is one of those JTL only thing... heh...

"Alright people, today's objective is to come up with some incredibly un-Star Warsy things for the game. When we eventually release the GCW balance, there's gonna be a lot of authenticity we'll need to counteract, and I think we should start now. We wouldn't want this game to be too much like Star Wars, would we?
"Here's an idea I was tossing around: Completely un-Star Wars related emotes. I think it's perfect! I'll give you some examples... how about an air guitar emote? We all know that the chances of air guitars existing in the Star Wars universe are slim to none, but that's what makes it so brilliant! Also, we should have a 'Loser' emote where they actually use the 'L' sign up against their forehead. That's a really good one, since, even if they used the first letter of the word up to their head to signify the word 'Loser' in their galaxy, which is a long shot obviously, they would probably use the Aurebesh character for it. They would use their left index finger and thumb, and the thumb would be at a 45 degree angle. If I catch anyone trying to do it that way, they're fired!"
...I can't believe someone actually responded to this thread with the words, "Keep up the great work." It blows my mind. People are actually falling for it. I didn't read the whole thread, but I did notice at least one person saw the truth. Thank the Maker.
You throw this garbage at us and we're supposed to be impressed? You didn't even include the "Move along" emote we've been asking for! I simply do not understand how you people think, nor how you can tell people you make a Star Wars game. I suggest you start making a stronger case for me to keep my subscription. JtL alone sure as hell isn't going to do it. Fix the ground before you move into space. If you do notlike the way I represented you in my little story up above, then prove me wrong. I bought this game for Star Wars, not for air guitars.

Hehe true, hard to roleplay as it is... it's a nice thing to keep people pre-occupied for a couple of days, like the holo-emotes... LOL... I rarely see ANYONE use those anymore... just like the whole coloring their bikes. I actually see more people using mounts (which is like not at all) compared to all the previous stuff they implemented. No wonder the they're having database issues. ^_^

EMOTES!!!!
Not to sound too negative, cause I'm sure the emotes are ....nice...but, Will they help me in battle? increase my Force sensitivity? make me a better PvP'er?
Add CONTENT? promote the GCW? do they effect combat balance in any way? If the answer is No to those questions ...then WHY ARE YOU THE DEVELOPERS spending time on it? I still have fun playing...and things seem to be improving...a little, but the process is sooooo looooong
Seems to be a marked lack of interest, maybe outright refusal, on your part to address LONG TIME issues with this game. Come on Guys...i've been faithful, kept my subscription We've had Galactic home shows...tutorials on how to use the match-making system....and , God Help us, An Image Designer Revamp. I'm starting to wonder about your guys masculinity, I'm sorry....but my "greatest story ever told", as advertised on the box, didn't include getting my nails done, a mud bath and a perm.
Hey the Emotes are swell though
You are right on some points, you see not everything in this game has to do with grinding, fighting or getting a jedi or even the GCW a few people are just here to have fun. Now if fun for them is chating in a gulid hall and playing in a guild hall doing how can make the best emote dance then what right do we have to complain about it.
As long as JTL is playable the devs could add chickens that you could kick for all i care

The reason we complain about the stupid crap is that this game has Star Wars in its title, and claims MMORPG as its genre. Personally, I can't understand why someone would pay a monthly subscription for a glorified chatroom. But sure, even if I don't understand why they do it, it's none of my business. What I do consider my business, however, is that I get what I'm paying for. Though it's not in any part of the legal agreement, I subscribed to this game expecting a certain amount of Star Wars content. This is the only MMOG I think I could really get into, since I love Star Wars and not necessarily the genre (though I have seen its possibilities in this game). Imperator, coming in Winter 2005, looks pretty good, but that's a long ways away, and I'm sure the devs would rather I keep my subscription to their game.
But toensure that, they have to start living up to the Star Wars in the title. If this were a game based on some concept they made up it wouldn't bother me so much that everyone runs around in the same, nearly-invincible armor, or that the so-called "oppressive" force in the game is forced to live a life of fear (frankly, I wouldn't be bothered because I wouldn't go near it). But I have seen Star Wars, and I can confidently say that no one wore a full set of armor besides soldiers, Dark Lords, and bounty hunters (and even with the bounty hunters, only a couple), and I'm pretty sure none of it was nearly-invincible. And no matter how brave they were, the Rebels were still terribly scared of the Empire, and had right to be.
The devs put quite a burden on their shoulders when they said they were going to make not only a Star Wars game, but a Star Wars roleplaying-game,and it is definitely about time they sucked it up and accomplished what they set out to do.
Also... we wouldn't be "bitching and moaning," as you put it, if these problems had been fixed when we first broughtthem to their attention. The fact that these problems have gone so long without rectification gives us a right to complain, in my opinion.

keep in mind that emotes add personality to the game. it would kinda boring if all u saw in game was ur character standing still with no expression or movement. maybe the time could of been spent for ship development but i for one am glad that they spent time on emote cause it adds creativity to the game. but i guess all those straight grinders and misantropic people that play this game dont want them.

Hey there... Coolnew emotes <swgangztarap> and to all you emotes haters out there we'll blow your planet up </swgangztarap>
first of: yes there ARE guitars in SW they are just not called guitars,
second of: if this game sucks soooo much then go play battlefront (cool game) here you wont find youre "lagg probs" and stuff, but youl probably not find youre freaking /movealong, what arwe you gonna use it for? nobody will listen anyway, and now you say "what can we use air guitar for? this is an example: there is this new rock venue where rock bands has come to play their music and instead of people just /boogie and /cheer they /airguitar to show the artist that they rock!!
this is a mmorpg and its meant to be ROLEPLAYED
arrange stuff, i love events, planning some too

for all u roleplayers that are moaning hey if u dont like it dont use it i role play but think some of the emotes in the game are great and im looking forward to the new ones , if it still gets on ur nerves just dont play anymore.
Also at this stage in development i would hope that all the devs have to do is what u call "silly" things that u dont like coz that means theyre onto the iron out process and have some time spare so hopefully things will go smother than they did with swg

Okay... I'm having a little trouble seeing where you're coming from, Insomniac. I myself am a roleplayer, and so you don't have to treat me like I'm some sort of griefer, or a PvPer, or anyone who might be against your playstyle.Calm down.
You emphasize some of the exact samepoints I have made, like the fact that this is a roleplaying game, but you somehow fail to realize that I am a roleplayer. Did you even read my posts in their entirity? I don't know why I'm even bothering to respond.
So I'm a roleplayer, but then you tell me to play Battlefront. Okay, that makes sense.
Another bafflingmoment comes whenyou tell me toroleplay (despite the fact I already do), but you also seem to discourage it by saying, "What are you going to use it for? Nobody will listen anyway." Quite a foolish comment to come from a roleplayer. I roleplay a Stormtrooper; I think I can find some way to implement "Move along."I will refrain from saying, "Duh."And when I RP with other RPers, ya, they will listen. It wouldn't be very good RP if they didn't. If you would simply ignore it coming from a person in full Stormtrooper armor, then I suggest you take some time to work on your RP. Actually, I think you definitely should. You think the air guitar emote is more important than "Move along"? You're something else.
Nobody said anything about lag, so I don't know what the hell that is all about.
The point of my postsis that making amore Star Warsy environment will do more for this game's roleplaying than adding more emotes will. Sure, emotes are great, but even if these ones were appropriate for the game, I would have appreciated it more had they come out after the more basic stuff was perfected. Can you see my point, Insomniac? I'd rather just use the /emote command to convey my actions while not having to worry about being taken out unfairly than to be watching someone using /airguitar in a cantina, only to be shot without a chance of surviving seconds later.
