I really appreciate the quick response, Herbs. Unfortunately, I can't use a joystick, I just mentioned it because I didn't want anyone to think I was recommending a control setup that would only work with a mouse. As for Teamspeak, that might work for some situations, but my voice is difficult to understand in person and even worse on the phone (imagine if someone hooked up a helium tank to Vader's respirator and put a clothes-pin on his nose). If I was flying with my guild, they'd be cool about it, but what about strangers?

Hmm, I'd really suggest you get yer hands on a 5 button mouse and bind pitch and yaw, etc to the buttons on the mouse! It might take an awful lot of work to get the hang of and it might be slightly less responsive than a keyboard or a joystick but it'd get you off the ground and into the air!

Interesting to consider that most of the "twitch" will be processed on the client side of things rather than the server side of things.

That being the case, how much "twitch/fast reflex" reaction is actually going to be relevant? Lag and ping speed is going to be king in deciding who wins out in the space fights. Therefore, the amount of reflexes and reaction capability you bring to the game, (although being a factor), will actually be a smaller proportion of the playing style than you might think.

I may have the fastest reflexes in the world. But if Im on a poor server connection, then I will get pwned by anyone else. It must work like that. I cant see how it couldnt.

I was going to ask of JDSpeeder had ever used a trackball? I suffer from sero-negative arthiritis (despite being in my late twenties), and I find, when im having bad jointdays, that a trackball is far easier to manage than a mouse. My other suggestion was to get some practice in on Freelancer. A mouse operatable game and one that looks close to the style of game play that we will get in JTL. I found it survivable.

Glad this thread is here! Laters!

I support removing combat classes if keeping them in results in a "dumbed down" game

Rollerball.

They are a bugger to get used to, but much faster than a mouse. Surely one of these could be configured to work as a joystick, giving you the potential to use a mouse type interface with the speed of a joystick. Best of both worlds hopefully.

I will support this, as for I am a one handed gamer.

Thank god for my friend for letting me have his old sidewinder. I would problably get pwned in 3 seconds flat.

anyways Devs you need to see this is very Important to disabled gamers. I have played flight games before and the only one I played without a joystick or gamepad was BF1942. Devs you Must see this as a small minority of us are disabled.
