Hi all. Sorry I've gone so long without a reply but school has been kicking my butt. Now on to my answers!:
I'm looking over all of your hardware recommendations and considering all the possibilities. Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything yet that I think I can use. If you have any other ideas though, I'm open to suggestions.
-Keys-, my disability is some kind of as-yet-unknown muscular dystrophy type thing. Basically, it just causes severe muscle weakness, meaning I'm in a wheelchair, have difficulty breathing, and can't really move very much of my body very far. I'd be interested to know what kind of keyboard your friend uses.
QuaDaJun, I don't think I could use the mouse or typing tools you suggested. But thanks for your help. If you ever happen to make a character on Chilastra, you can fly on my wing any time. We could call ourselves "The Sitting Duck Squadron!"
Thanks again to everybody for all of your help.

aha! cool lol ill get right on it..and hopefully i can find a kick in the pants keyboard for you!
aha! alright i did some searching around based on information i had previously collected from my neighbor...she gave me a few sites and companies to look up..heres what i found!
http://portal.ua.pt/bibliotecad/default1.asp?H1=2&Obra=20
that site IS mainly in spanish as far as i know, but if you find a way to use google to translate the web page it should be fine. However the site shows various products which im not sure the site offers for purchase that can help many many cases of disabilities in typing and such..Although its unknown if these programs will work for SWG and other games..
http://www.nanopac.com/Keyboard.htm heres another, this however should have an area where you can purchase items or at least have info on where you can purchase them it covers a number of disabilities such as Blindless and hearing of sort..might have some stuff that could help out..
http://www.makoa.org/computers.htm this may be your best case! i was looking through google just for an extra few items i could add here for you and came accross an entry on this..it was number one on the top links for this catagory the description and whatnot is as follows:
"extensive list of products and resources for those with disabilities, compiled by by Jim Lubin, who is paralyzed from the neck down and dependent on a ventilator to breathe, and who uses a keyboard/mouse emulator with a sip and puff switch to type Morse codes " now sure its moris code but I think from what ive found around the site there is much more than just huff and puff moris code...dont think the Moris would be SWG compatible anyways hehe...
http://www.abledata.com/Site_2/computers.htm#ComputerAccessInterfaces theres another one if you scroll down the list long enough youll find a section called "motor disabilities" and so on..those links should have a number of products that can hopefully help you dramatically..
http://www.utoronto.ca/atrc/reference/tech/techgloss.html theres one! lol this may have some stuff you might be interested in..
Well..here instead of pasting all the links and such and giving a description ill be half lazy and post the "Top ten links" for these sorts of problems!
http://www.tenlinks.com/CAD/PRODUCTS/disabled.htm
I hope all or at least some of this helped you
good luck!

Man, -Keys-, that's an encyclopedia! I didn't have time to follow every link, but what I saw intriuged me. I don't think what I need actually exists, but I think I could improvise something from odds and ends on those sites. Strangely, a development in my life totally unrelated to SWG might help this situation. I'm getting a new chair soon that's supposed to be sufficiently pimped out with computer interface stuff. It's possible that could help me in JTL.
Even still, I'd like an official answer from the devs.

Ive not read all the replies so this might have been said already, but what about microsoft gamevoice.A controller that allows you to assign keyboard commands to voice recognition or the microsoft strategic commander, which is a mouse type device with 6 keys, that allows for up to 72 keymaps. I think the strategic commander is no longer produced by MS as its not on their sidewinder homepage but you may me lucky to find it in stock somewhere still. Im sure with either of these or perhaps both it would ease your gaming problems.

Please can there be a public response to this thread by the Devs. Not being pushy but some of us are eager to find out how we can be apart of JTL in this "twitch" system. The community in this game is awesome. Please to sometime to actually listen to them.

You might be able to get a massive joystick with all the buttons within reach on one hand...
It's amazing what technology can do..

I can see things such as windows mode being the same with JTL. Its still the same game just with space flight added. So whatever software you use now to aid you should be compatible.
I think the best answer for you guys would be for the devs to get you into beta as fast as possible. That way all yourquestions can be answered and if anything crops up there might be time to find a work around.

Thanks for ideas Mooko, and The_Shruberer and anyone else. The idea for big joystick is good but in my case and I think Jabrakt, is lack of finger use. I do agree with Mooko, it would be great to explain and work with the Devs on how we play the game now and how same software, acessories etc. can be used in JTL. Thanks community all the ideas are great and the support even better!
