If I were you, i'd focus more on defense vs states, like dizzy knockdown stun etc.

I am picking pikeman as my next PVP profession. What kind of weapons do you master pikemans use when PVPing, what are the max damages. And just another question, dothe polearm weapons you buy with 1k+ damage or are they crafted or looted?

Firstly, if you're gonna use pike in pvp you need to stack defense, including states - Pikeman on it's own can't kill anyone 8 times out of 10.

It doesn't hurt to get some DOTs - everyone else can **edit** all they want but the fact is, they work.

The 1k+ max damage LVA is what you need for a strait fight - and yes, these are looted. It is POSSIBLE to get one over 1k if you have an uber 12pt smith, amazing resources, top end station and heavy damage slice but it's easier to loot them by a long way.

You'll also want a decent Vibro Lance for the extra damage type.

Couple tips - use your states and bleeds, pike requires brains to win - we don't have a win button. Try to hang back a little in group stuff, I find personally that people tend to go for me first, though admittedly it's possibly because they know the first thing I do is go after CMs and Docs with fire, but still... People fear dots, even if you don't have them - if you're a pikeman in pvp then the chances are you've got a dot so people shoot at you a lot. Hang back, let the fencers go on first.

I find a good role is to work with the riflemen... let the fencers and other stackers headin first to break thier lines, then when they start getting disorganised get your mellee guys to basically chase them to you and be the KD whore - then just let the rifle guys pick em off... If oyu can coordinate it it's a great strategy and a hell of a well fitting role for our abilities.

Also - target anyone who you know uses a lot of action in thier specials - we hit action - and we hit it pretty well, so work with thier weaknesses.

No edit button....

You CAN pvp with a 650+ LVA - it's just tougher.

Is that actually possible or just wishful thinking?

For PvP you want to stick with a LVA for straight damage. It's AP2 and has decent stats.

VLs are really only useful for PvE, since they are only AP1 and Electric damage is an innate defense of Composite (meaning it is always highly resisted) and is also blocked by PSGs.

DoT pikes can be whatever....though NS lances are nice because of the high (relatively speaking) accuracy mods.

Pretty sure crafted pikes do not get over 1K, even sliced and PU'ed.

I've been told by a friend who used to be a 12pt w/s before quittingthat he crated one with uber resources etc., got a 33% damage slice and with pup it was 1023... Whether he was actually telling the truth or not is open to debate, he was on a different server to me so I never saw it, but I've not got any reason to doubt what he said was true.

Also, even if he was it's worth bearing in mind I guess that the pup would have to come off or the thing would fall apart in hours, but yes, according to him it is physically possible.

Either way, it's easier to loot & slice as I said. Even if you CAN make them they're gonna be damn rare. Like... Legendary Gorax Shard kinda rare.

Hello all,

Can we Master sword/brawler survive at all in PvP without speed cap? Last night, I fought w/ a pikeman (speedcap, and def stackers,) I couldn't last more then 10 secs. I guess my question is that should I even think about PvP at all when I am not speed cap?

If you were fighting the pikeman, and the pikeman wasnt a noob, he obviously used DOT's on you, and in that case, theres not much you can do to prevent it except make sure you blind him, have a COB macro on, dodge food, and maybe some extra defenses from fencer like 3400, and after that, make sure your mind and your mind secondaries are jacked up to the highest, to fight against those DOT's.

As for your question, I was holding out very well in PVP before I got some speed SEA's, you need to get a really good scythe, or, grab your power hammer and swing away. Although, being speed capped makes a lot of difference ....

That question is awnsered in the guild, you need to be using the right weapons for starter. i been a non speed cap swordman in pvp for a long time althought i admit being speed cap gives me more open and life is easier it's something i can easily do without (but i rather not)

I must say swordsman holds out pretty good for me In pvp, Did you run a CoB Macro and intimidated him when you fought him? Alot of people forget to do that in pvp.

Also Swordsmans weakest point is probarly his low defenses, I myself took fencer 4000 To get some more, and I use KD food against Tkm, And I hold out pretty good
