I wouldn't think Rifleman/Doctor is such a good combo because if I remind well the rifleman abilities are heavy on mind cost....
It's not all that much of a problem since I only do things that aren't mid-battle intensive. PvP is a crapshoot anyways, I'm not gonna get a chance to do any doctor related stuff to much extent anyways, may as well use my mind for something.
If I were running around mid-battle, healing people [see: my last post here, I don't do that], then I would have gone with Pistoleer, Carbineer or Creature Handler.

the only people i ever die to in pvp is bounty hunters. i get 40 eye shots up my anus in like 5 seconds and theres no way to counter it. other times ive been knockdown/dizzied by their cheap carbine moves, or "caught on fire" by their pistol (explain to me the sense of that). the moves and skills associated with bh are far beyond those of any non-bh. hell, all the other combat classes have 80% of their skills broken or ineffective while a bounty hunter can pin any target down in a few shots. i understand that a bounty hunter skills need to be superiour because of the large amount of prereqs it takes to become novice, but my god not THAT superior. if you can tell me one combat class i can use with master doctor to even do half damage to a bounty hunter spamming eye shot, lemme know and ill shut up
p.s. i tried to go carbineer to get the knockdown/dizzy bh carbines do, and the skills needed are broken. go figure
Could you whine anymore in one post?
I think CH works great w/ Doctor at least for PvE. I send my two Grand Wrixes, soon to be three in to attack, and I heal my group members. My PA appreciates my abilities to use my pets as tanks and at the same time keepTHEM alive. Oh, and I'm all for mid-battle healing as a doctor...I just don't get my kicks from watching my pistol fire repeatedly in battle until the creature falls (it just gets boring after awhile), and there is nothing worse than the sole Doctor in the group getting attacked imho. So, I find it much more fun to roam and heal my group members while they take it down. I'm a team player and I find this combination to work great for me. Of course everyone has their own opinions.
To be honest, I was going to go Pistoleer for self defense (and that probably isn't a bad idea if you intend to go solo), but with a big group I find it works better if everyone has their own roles. Also, I have about 10 times more fun hunting with a group than I do soloing. It works great for my groups if I heal only, and it is much more fun and challenging to keep everyone alive and up at all times. The creature goes down faster. If a group member goes incap, I feel as though I have failed. OK I'm rambling.

damage over time.
it will doX damage, every Y seconds/ticks, for Z amount of time. you dont get the huge numbers for DOT's that lets say ariflemen,BH,comanndo, etc. would at once. butthere nice to DOT a mob at the begining of the fight and move on to healing, so your doigndamgare and healign at the same time.
Buff yourself as a doctor. Wear a freaking composite helmet. And then a BH's eyeshot will just be a waste of time. 1100 mind with 40% or so resistances will take a good while to kill. And if youre a master pistoleer you should be able to take down a BH in that time. It aint hard, think outside the realm of:
"theres a BH, shoot till he dies."
That dont work. If I was a doctor, Id never go anywhereunless I hadbuffed myself, if I could help it.

The problem isn't Master BH with 33 skill points left over owning in PvP sure I can buy that, its novice BH 0-0-2-0 owning in PvP against other MASTER elite combat professions thats kinda silly but oh well so much for balance....
After mastering bounty hunter..... after spending 217 skill points to achieve it...... after getting all the BH pistol, carbine, LLC abilities..... after spending countless hours in Investigation...... he still easily dies to a BH with 0-0-2-0.
It sucks a lot for MBH. Trust me, a lot of MBH hates the fact that a dabbler has the same firepower as they have.

Errr ... you do realize that going into bounty hunter requires Master Marksmand AND scout right? Because if you master scout, marksman and doctor you'll have 33 points left over to go into the BH tree, not very much by any stretch of the imagination.
Your math is off. A Master Doctor can't even become a novice bounty hunter. Master Doc = 140 skillpoints.
