I'm not sure what you mean by "what category" ... I'm a novice BH with 0-1-2-2 in the skill tree atm and I've really yet to use eyeshot on anyone except doctors and medics who give me trouble by healing themselves over and over. I do fairly well when I'm overt, but it's probably a combination of the fact that I
a) Don't travel overt
b) Hang out near Rebel strongholds, and definately not near anchorhead where all the imps with at-sts hang out
c) I have 3 senior specforce pets out at all times, plus a 2700HAM melee pet.
I prefer using the LLC over the pistol and carbine, as it just packs a bigger punch, and when my imperial prey is trying to flee from me the majority of the time, I have to get a good shot in whenever I can.
You see the problem isn't that BH is THE best, but the fact that other people simply aren't combining trees to specifically kill them. What I mean by that is exactly what you posted. People are a master doctor and expect to kill a bounty hunter. No offense but that's just plain silly. Or someone else who is only a pistoleer and expects to kill a bh.
If you don't want to do support skills, then grab some offensive trees and you can rock a bh as well. Otherwise, the only other straight hybrid capabale of going toe to toe would be commando.
Master Doctors are overpowered.
3500 Health and Action. Regens faster than bleed and poison combined.
Only way a combat profession can beat them is through mind or get another doctor to get the same buffs.
So it's basically only rifleman or Expert BH or 2:1 odds that can beat a master doctor. So if you are a ch, pistoleer, carbineer, or combat medic, then you are no match for a master doctor.
If you go MBH, everyone can beat you but you can beat everyone too.
That's what balances doctors. Everyone can use the buffs.

i am a master doc and a 1 0 0 0 Novice Rifleman
but to be honest, most time i do some crafting with my factories and check my harvesters
thats why i like SWG so much...i can grab my laser in the morning do some hunting,later i can sit back, watching my factories and harvesters earning cash

Master Doctor / Pistoleer = Good
Master Doctor / Carbineer = Good
Just always use the best enhancements you can.. it's not that hard..max all your mind stats with migration and use enhancers on the rest..
I think CH works good with doctor, I usually just send my pet to attack, then heal the other people in my group.

Master Doctor + TKM = get kited by novice marksmen and die.
